They were surprisingly busy for a Tuesday evening at 8:30 when my wife and I visited. As others have mentioned, the décor is pretty dated and the spacious dining areas could certainly use an update. We found the staff to be very friendly and the service was outstanding. I was impressed with the extensive variety of items on their menu. I ordered a medium rare Delmonico steak with french fries while my wife ordered the eggplant parmesan with spaghetti. After our order was placed we were presented with a basket of nice Italian bread and crackers with butter and margarine packets. The bread was good and I appreciated the butter not being frozen so it was easy to spread. The entrees included soup of the day or salad so my wife started with a cup of Manhattan clam chowder while I opted for the salad. The soup was average, kind of bland and nothing to get excited about. My salad was basic, iceberg lettuce with sliced onions and tomatoes and just the slightest trace of red cabbage. It was fresh and crisp and topped with ranch dressing. I crumbled a couple packs of crackers on it and it was delicious. The entrees were brought to the table immediately upon our finishing the soup and salad, I appreciate this as it annoys me when some restaurants bring entrees to the table before I have finished my course. My wife’s entrée was a very ample portion and pretty good but we’ve definitely had better. The eggplant was crispy and the pasta was perfectly cooked but the sauce was kind of average and a little on the thin side. It was nice that the server brought grated parmesan and crushed red pepper flakes to the table without being asked. My steak was outstanding, well marbled and cooked a perfect medium rare. It was very tender and seasoned just right, I really enjoyed it. The french fries were very delicious as well, a sizable portion which appeared to be hand cut with the skin on. They were nice and crispy and I didn’t leave a single one. We enjoyed our visit to Gus and Georges and will return, I have my eye on the seafood platter for our next visit.

Our«Tuesday Lunch» group met at Gus & George’s this week… I had read these reviews before going, and I seriously thought the reports of serving regular sliced loaf bread in their bread baskets must have been due to their running out of fresh-baked bread on a few days… Nope… This appears to be their normal mode of operation. First, let me say that the fried calamari was very good… less breading would have improved it, but it was prepared well — not overdone. The calamari was tender, and the tentacles were included, which you don’t often find these days. However, the eggplant parmesan several of us ordered was way overcooked, and it was served with spaghetti covered in a meat spaghetti sauce that seemed to contain no vegetables, whatsoever. One of our members is vegetarian, so our waitress was fairly nice about replacing her meat sauce-covered spaghetti with an order of spaghetti with the marinara sauce we were expecting. I didn’t have mine replaced, but probably should have… not much flavor in the meat sauce at all. Still, after I added some green pepper, onion, garlic, mushrooms, and more tomato sauce to the leftover spaghetti last night, it was fairly enjoyable today for lunch. All I can say about the overdone eggplant is that it was edible. Several people ordered hamburgers or steaks, and they all said that the meat was tasty; however, every order was overcooked… Whether they had requested rare, medium-rare, medium, or medium-well, all of the meats arrived completely well done. Our waitress was«bullyingly-playful» — not professional, at all, but somewhat fun. I seriously doubt if I’ll ever go back to this restaurant again… but if I ever do, it’s for certain that I’ll only be ordering tea and the fried calamari.

We are regulars here, what can I say this place has been around since I was a young boy, same owners too. If your looking for a good family atmosphere, family owned and operated with great food and service, Gus and Georges Spaghetti and Steak House, no doubt ! These days its getting hard to find all the above attributes in one place, this is one of our few regular places we go to, to enjoy a great family meal and time. Prices are reasonable as well, family friendly. You get what you pay for, it’s worth the visit more than twice.

Food was gross. Ordered Chicken Parmesan and beef veggie soup. The bread that came with the soup was stale sandwich bread. Instead of beef there was clam meat in my «beef» vegetable stew. The chicken Parmesan tasted like it was freezer burned. It was just one of the worst food experiences I’ve ever had. I should have read the reviews before visiting…

Décor is a little old-school & nothing fancy. However, the food is absolutely delicious. The spaghetti meat sauce is simply the best homemade flavor you can imagine. And, their meatball sub sandwich is among the best you’ll have anywhere. Their homemade fries are an absolute MUST-have — totally addictive — French fry perfection every time. Trust me, you won’t be able to stop eating them. Then, top it all off with some unique, homemade blueberry bread pudding that will melt in your mouth!

My parents love this place. I’m ambivalent about it because you can get better Greek and Italian all over town. I’m not a fan of the geriatric crowd inside and the hotel-like décor. I’ve had some pretty good chicken Parmesan here. Today’s chicken kebab was tasty. I was pleasantly surprised to came out already ‘off the stick.’ But, the rice was SO bland and I was confused as to why I was brought soy sauce for chicken that tasted of rosemary and garlic. It did kind of save the dish, though. I think I could have made this at home. The menu is really limited to slabs of meat with carbs, either fried or broiled. My parents adore their house salads, which evidently have some kind of stellar dressings. They also can cater to my little nephew who has milk/nut allergies. Ultimately, this is a generational preference as to whether you enjoy this place.

Don’t go. Everything about this place is wrong from the food to the décor. Absolutely the worst food I’ve experienced at a restaurant. A true Kitchen Nightmare for chef Ramsey to fix.

I come here to get old people food. I am not putting it down, but it is nice salty comfort food at a very reasonable price. I wouldn’t call this fine dinning, just really solid mom and pop dinner. I am fond of the London broil with the fries. You can start that off with some nice soup and dip white bread into that as much as your heart desires. The staff are very friendly. I always have a nice feeling when they greet me, seat me, and feed me. If you want a unique take on anything then move along. This place is like a comfy old sweater — it may not look the best but it feels so good.

What you see, is what you get. Decent food at a decent price. Nothing fancy or chic here. A mom and pop establishment with dated décor that the fast, friendly service makes up for. This is the place to take your grandparents, not your hipster, foodie friends.

Came here with my husband because he is from Virginia Beach and used to come here often as a child with his parents. I loved the food, it is a little dated interior and could use 100% makeover though. You can tell its been around for quite awhile without any type of updating. Regardless, the food was great! Its very quiet inside, mostly older couples who you can tell have been frequenting the place for years. VERY reasonably priced. Large portions, I would recommend.

This is a place for older people, not my vibe or taste buds. Spaghetti was decent, not out of this world. I ordered a steak and it was decent, but not as great as I would have wanted. There salad dressings weren’t to my liking, it was very sour. My bread was stale. The welcoming wasn’t so welcoming either, my family just got stared at for a minute and then were asked to have a seat.

Ive been here once, and I feel like if your not a senior citizen you do not belong. The food is low grade the atmosphere is nothing to talk about and it reeked of cigarettes.

Great place to take your elderly parents when they are in town. From the basket of crackers, light bread and butter to the cheesecake for dessert, they will appreciate the homeyness and friendly service. We can personally vouch for the Romanian steak with delicious gravy, the spaghetti, and the seafood platter — large portions and great flavor. Homemade vegetable beef soup and clam chowder, nice and hot to the last bite. Young men should go and learn some gentleman skills: pulling the chair out for your date, helping her with her coat, having a pleasant, eye to eye dinner conversation. Young women should go to see how gentlemen treat their dates. We recommend!

I love this place. Yeah, it’s old. It’s dated inside. They give you wonder bread. Big deal. The food is excellent. I have been going here for 20 plus years and not once did I get a bad meal. Try the Romanian steak w French fries(gravy on ff). Prices are reasonable. I guess it’s not for some who like the same generic food from the chain restaurants.

I nearly busted a tooth on an olive. That was an unpleasant surprise. How are you supposed to eat an olive with a pit anyway? Spit out? When you’re out to eat with a group a people you have just met at the luncheon that’s hardly polite. So I couldn’t eat them at all. The server was scattered and admitted to being confused. She was certain I ordered a chicken salad sandwich instead of a Greek salad with chicken added. She was just about to tell me I was wrong in not accepting the food she was trying to give me when finally another person at the table to her that was their food. Then she blamed me for coming in late? Late? We may have not all been seated at once but we all placed our orders at once. In addition to being confused she was also rude. Reaching across my face several times to place items for the person sitting to my right when she could have easily stepped to my right and placed things down directly in front of the person she was serving without reaching over me. We were at a table not a booth so there was plenty of space. It just required one extra step. The food was pretty good. The décor is old and outdated. The restaurant is dark and dingy and the ceiling looked dirty.

When we walked in I was sure Gordon Ramsey was going to be there doing an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. The décor is extremely old as are most of the patrons and I wouldn’t say it was the brightest, cleanest place I’ve ever eaten but it turns out the food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. I had the Romanian Steak and my husband had the chicken teriyaki. We were skeptical about the food at first because when you first come in they bring you a basket of packaged crackers and sliced white bread straight from a bread bag but if you can over look a few things like that the actual food is worth it. We will definitely be back :)

The décor is dated but I don’t go here for the décor I go for great Spaghetti and fries the Greek burger is sizable and the price is fair. they offer quick take out and fresh food. they also seem to be on a reliable power grid because when the powers out they are always open like a port in a storm. Recently had my mother in laws b day there we rented a room and they supplied the food and everyone left happy with overly full belly’s with out breaking the bank. for a treat try the Romanian steak
