Overall-really not a bad Chinese buffet for the money. They continually brought out fresh dishes and the Mongolian BBQ was great. I personally love the fried biscuit dough and they kept them coming!

CMYE event for their 10 year anniversary was great! I haven’t been to this one in awhile, however I was pleasantly surprised by some changes they had made. There a re a few upgrades and the food was honestly a lot better than usual. They had a section with with fried sushi rolls which was new. They kept all food fresh full and hot! It was good to see all my old Elite friends I haven’t seen in awhile too!

What a great, hospitable evening. Unilocal took over the party room(which is huge!) for a night of complimentary food, photo booth fun and friendship. The restaurant was very clean. Plentiful amounts food entrees, sushi, sashimi and desserts. Mind blowing the amount of food. Even a chocolate fountain. I loved the stuffed crab shell and fresh sushi rolls. Probably my favorite bites to eat. The staff was super friendly and efficient. Never a dry glass which is a plus. I see that other Unilocalers wrote about last night and had a great time. This is worthy of 5*****. Hands down. Thank you for the meal. We will return.

Unilocal chose this place to host an event for the restaurant’s 10 year anniversary, congrats on 10 years! I have driven by this place on occassion, but never been inside. It’s big! They have a very wide range of eats: Salad bar: The lettuce and greenery looked sad and I didn’t eat any of it. I did try both kinds of cucumber salad, with a little salt, they were good. I also ate some very fresh oranges, which were delicious! Sushi bar: No terribly exotic rolls, but enough to eat something you like. The chef was there cranking out rolls. The rice was sticky and the rolls were tight, nothing fell apart. I liked that they had a nigiri section too with a variety of fish. Dessert: Jello and a few cakes, the not very sweet Asian style that I don’t always like. There was a fondue fountain spinning out chocolate with stuff you could stick under it. Not a fan of the bland chemically tasting chocolate. Hibachi: big selection of veggies and meats. More Sarku style than Mongolian. Foods: Not my favorite section here. Despite seeing staff filling this place up frequently, the taste isn’t that great. There is giant selection of Asian and American food. The bathroom and most of the restaurant was clean. I used the salt at my table in the banquet hall and it was gross and sticky. The staff was all nice and kept up with getting all the plates off the tables.

And is goes like this… The family and I visited Happy as part of an event outing and were pleased. We used to go to Happy when it first opened up down on the other end of the old building however we had not been in the last year. They have really grown and improved in the quality and variety of food offered and the customer service. The sushi offerings were pretty good. My hubby prefers cooked sushi and they had every roll he likes. I asked for a shrimp tempura roll and within 3 – 5 mins the guys made it fresh and delicious with great attitudes. We also really enjoyed the hibachi grill(they actually offer cleaned/deveined shrimp) love that! I didn’t get a bad item off the buffet. It was clean and they seem to restock it pretty frequently. It has revived my kind view of Happy Buffet! I can say it really made us… Happy. The servers were on point with drink refills and the atmosphere was cool. The décor and music was not too loud or overpowering. We would def visit again when chinese buffet is what we’re diggin’.

I came here for their 10th Anniversary with Unilocal. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess who sat us in the banquet room with the other Unilocalers. We were asked our drinks immediately. I would say this place is mediocre at best. Their volcano rolls were very good. The rest looked like it was siting out for a while. Their fried shrimp and fish were very tasty. Their fried chicken was freshly hot and yummy. I didn’t care for their stuffed mushrooms at all. Their Chinese food was very good(beef & broccoli, lo mein, sweet & sour chicken). They didn’t have a variety of desserts. To be honest, there’s several buffets I’d pick before coming here again.

Came here for a Unilocal event last night. I was happy(ha, get it?) I was finally able to try this place out! I’ve been driving by here for a while and have never had the chance to check it out. First off, HAPPY10YEARANNIVERSARY to them! They must be doing something right if they have been here for 10 years! Unilocalers were seated in the Banquet room for the event. But with a quick look around the restaurant, it was pretty large! Thus I do not see this place ever needing to go on a wait due to the ample amount of room they have. On to the food! It was on par with buffet standards. Sushi was, meh-per usual buffets. They had your average everything. bourbon chicken, spring rolls, egg rolls, crab Rangoon, chicken and broccoli, beef and broccoli, pizza, shrimp tempura, pizza, mushrooms, green beans, fish, stuffed crab and all the rest. Some things were good, and others were okay. When it comes to buffet food everyones taste buds are different. Id have to say they had an average amount to choose from– not too much and not too little. Oh there was also a hibachi station there! For dessert they had an ice cream machine, some little sponge cake style things and some ritz cracker thing? They also had cake. Not sure if the cake was due to the Anniversary, or if that was normal for them, but it was DELICIOUS! They should definitely keep the cake theme going ;) Oh! They also had a chocolate fountain! I did not partake in this but someone might like it! *thumbs up* So! All in all. Good, average buffet. Very clean. At the event they had a little photo booth! Boardwalk Photo Booth Company is the name, and they were AWESOME! It was so cute and random. The photo booth company definitely deserves some kudos because they were on top of it. Moving the line right along, a treasure chest full of props, and just super sweet ladies in general. I hear this restaurant uses this photo booth company from time to time and I totally recommend them! *Going to go write a review on them now!* Thanks for hosting yet another awesome event Xerxes!

My first time at Happy Buffet and I can see why my Mom & daughter like to come here so much! The staff is very friendly, attentive, helpful & inviting. Their buffet is great with so many good and delicious items in their well-thought selection; each item was fresh at the perfect temperature and was consistent upon each replenishment. I have many favorites here, to include their shrimp, crawfish, sushi items(especially their Volcano roll), stuffed mushrooms and chicken & broccoli. This location is kept very clean and tidy and they also offer forks for those who aren’t as familiar with chop sticks. The atmosphere is positive and upbeat and I love their décor. Although there were many other patrons around, I still could hold a wonderful conversation with my important dinner date(my Mom). I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Our first Unilocal!event! Woohoo! Such a fun time! Ok, now about the food… as buffets go, it was actually pretty good, but really nothing to write home about. The dish I loved the most was a pork thing, I think it was called«Happy Pork» something like that, there was also a shrimp and chicken dish that was pretty good, the salads are nice, they seemed fresh, stuffed crabs good, spring rolls not bad. The restaurant was very clean and the wait staff were super super nice and attentive. We didn’t try the Mongolian stir fry station, but it looked pretty good. The sushi was ok as far as buffets go, but the soy was super salty and really overpowered the sushi. The salt and pepper prawns had great flavor but were a bit over cooked. Coconut shrimp was alright, not too sweet, my husband had the dumplings, they had good flavor but were very very greasy. The only thing I would say to definitely not try would be the Egg Fu Yong(I think I spelled it right :-/)…it had no flavor and was very greasy. The sweets were ok, the oreo pudding was awesome! And the Flan was good, I wouldn’t really recommend the fro yo, it was a strange consistency and had a weird aftertaste. Overall, I would come back here, it’s pretty cheap and the food is decent. Overall a great experience tonight! Thanks Happy Buffet!

For a 9.99 buffet this was on point. The service as good. They were very welcoming and kept my cup full, like most buffets… lol I had the Hibachi. I got noodles, steak, egg and veggies. You fix your own plate and then give it to the chef to cook up. He has Teriyaki and soy sauce add in if you like. Be careful with the spices I added in too much chili paste and too much chili oil. I love spicy food but I went a little overboard… lol This is a dope spot and a good price. The bourbon chicken and the green beans were solid as well. I’d frequent this spot with a group of friends often if I lived closer. This is a solid buffet.

Happy Buffet has been around for quite a while now, and I recently dined here for the first time in the banquet room for a party during the dinner service. Before heading out here, I was told that their selection was much smaller than other buffets in the area and that their prices were higher. Nevertheless, I came with an open mind and an empty stomach. One of the factors that sets apart Happy Buffet from the rest of the competition is the exclusiveness of the banquet room with closed doors. The event I attended held a prayer service an hour prior to eating, so there was no issue with privacy and the noise volume from the other areas of the restaurant. Another major factor was the exceptional service we all received from one particular male server. I didn’t get his name, but he was probably the best buffet server I’ve ever had. He always had a smile on his face, was quick to refill drinks and take away plates, and seemed to genuinely love his job with his attitude that perfectly reflects the name of the establishment. The last major factor is food-related: the fresh sashimi and baked salmon. The sashimi selection was diverse and quickly restocked. The pieces were huge too! I went back for seconds and thirds. The baked salmon was made with sushi-grade salmon, which made it moist unlike the frozen salmon every other place uses. It also wasn’t drenched in oil, which I greatly appreciated. I didn’t care much for the rest of the buffet offerings, but everything else is what you would find at a standard Chinese buffet. The other food that I tried included the coconut shrimp, beef and broccoli, fried shrimp, fried fish, stuffed crab, crab legs, and chocolate froyo. Yes, I would definitely come back again. Baked salmon and fresh sashimi, yes please!

Meh, it’s your typical Chinese buffet. You get what you pay for. I think every time I go here it’s either hit or miss. They have your usual food: hot bar Chinese food, hibachi, and sushi(which you never know how long it’s been sitting out). The hibachi was okay, nothing special. They also have a chocolate fondue fountain here, but only had marshmallows around it. If I were to choose a Chinese buffet, I’d probably go to Crazy Buffet in Chesapeake over this place.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here a few days ago. We were absolutely starving so I though«what the hell?» how bad could it be? I went here 5 years ago, once, and hadn’t been back since. Hopeful, we entered the restaurant. Needless to say, it was disappointing. The waitress was friendly, and the place seemed acceptably clean, how ever the food was seriously lacking. Bland, stale, overheated… The good news is there is plenty of it so if you can ignore your taste buds, you won’t go hungry.

This is a very well stocked buffet. With hibachi to order, sushi, and a caste array of typical dishes, it certainly had choices for everyone. For two adults and 1 child under 10, we paid $ 30. This includes the purchase of two fountain drinks as they are not part of the buffet. Also, they were running a special where you get the second adult entrée for half off. It was a Saturday night so maybe that explains the cost. The food was not bad, but not really worth the high cost. Everyone in our group agreed it was a one time visit. The staff is friendly and they have TVs playing movies from all angles. This kept the kids entertained. The dessert station is decent with a signature chocolate fountain. The place was clean, but is certainly not classy from the outside. Inside, it is semi decent décor. I am not sure if I would visit again, but certainly glad we tried it once!

It’s been so long since I’ve been here, but I noticed that they made a few additions. They have a chocolate fountain now !! Chocolate lovers beware! Anyways, I placed an order for a 75 piece assorted sushi order a few hours ago for pick up at six. The man on the phone didn’t ask for a name or number, just said«Ok» and was ready to hang up. I quickly asked him if he needed my name, and he said«oh yeah» and wrote it down. Should have been a red flag! I called again to get the price, and confirmed that I would see them at six. Well, we get here at six on the dot and they haven’t even started our order! The hostess didn’t apologize or anything, either. She just said«I thought you were coming at seven.» I’m not one to complain or ask for things like discounts and such if something goes wrong, so I told her not to worry about it or rush the order, and that we would be back. We came back around half an hour later and it was ready! Our order came with an assortment of six rolls, a container of soy sauce, spicy mayo, eel sauce, a large ball of ginger, and large ball of wasabi for $ 33.39(tax included)! Such a great deal, especially if you are having a get together. I would order again, just give a little cushion room for any delays!

Let me wrap up my hibachi trilogy series. *Spoiler alert* it has a «happy» ending.(I couldn’t resist) haha I was in the Lynnhaven area with Isaac and said that I was in the mood for Chinese, he took us here. I had a puzzled look on my face because my prior two visits to hibachi restaurants weren’t that great of an experience; howver the Happy buffet left me quite happy. Most of what I got from the buffet was good. Which was a shock to me, the establishment was also very clean, another shock because I usually find the bathrooms of hibachi grills to be tore up. Everything was also very resonably priced. All in all the Happy buffet restored my loosing faith in having a pleasureable dining experience at a hibachi resturant. Ps: get the seafood biscuits and black pepper chicken they were both my favorites.

Hmm. happy buffet. .I’ve been putting off reviewing you. i really have mixed feelings. Some days your pretty good. Others u r just gross The food is typical buffet food The sushi is sometimes really good. I really just come here for the sushi, words can’t say how much I love sushi and sashimi and really anything of the like If you come here on a day when it is busy the food will be changed out more, but if you come here when there isn’t many people be prepared for a bad experience.
