It’s ok. Glad to support a local business. They do have a lot of stuff, some pricier than a big box store. Didn’t get the best customer service but, it wasn’t terrible.

My favorite shop to go to for fishing. Prices are equal to or in some cases a little less than bass pro. Selection is great. They even have some in house lures they make themselves that are really good. I can find some of the toughest lures to get ahold of and more here. The staff is comprised of fisherman. From salt water to fresh water these guys will help you out and they fish often. They are just good ol boys. They don’t approach you as most places would. They kind of let you do your own thing and if you need help ask and they will tell you everything. I guess you could say that’s a downfall but i like it. No one here is gong to hover over you the whole time you shop. Give this place a shot… it’s great. .bows.and equipnent… this place has it all

Excellent knowledge & extremely helpful staff that seem happy to go the extra mile to explain even the basics to a novice like me! This store is huge and looks like it has everything you could ever want from a tackle shop. I would definitely recommend this place for fishing stuff or bait etc.

Let me start off with full disclosure prior to my review. I have only fished a few times in my life and that was when I was a teenager. I know nothing about fishing, equipment, or bait. So how did I find myself here anyway. I guess the curiousity got to me when having breakfast beside the business. I have passed Oceans Tackle shop hundreds of times and always wondered what this foreign business to me was like. The location is just off of North Hampton on the Virginia Beach/Norfolk line. Roosters a breakfast/lunch joint shares the same building. There signage is new and quite visible from the road. The lot accommodates both cars, pick up trucks and boat trailers. The lot, sidewalks and large front glass of the business were clean and presented well. The building is probably 1950’s, but is in good condition and has nice looking white paint over concrete. So as a someone that knows nothing about the sport of fishing I was darn impressed with the inventory of equipment, gear, bait and anything and everything fishing. The floor was clean and well organized, but to a novice I may has been on another planet. They seem to have anything you could possible want except for the boat themselves. The amount of rods was staggering and seemed to just keep going on and one. Fishing lures of every imaginable color covered a 30 foot+ wall. Custom reels as much as $ 800 made of brass and stainless steel. Shirts, jackets and sunglasses are also on the floor for the sport fisherman. The new addition to the business since this Summer is a hunting and ammo section. This area carries hunting and archery equipment. Rifles, bow’s, ammo and some clothing. But possibly the best thing the new area has going for it is this may be Hampton Roads only custom hunt shop. A saw an employee assisting a customer and explaining that they could pretty much rebuild a bow from scratch. Rifle adjustments and cleanings can also be made in their in house shop. The employee was super nice to talk to about the new shop and seemed very knowledgeable. Before I left there was a conversation I overheard between a few of the male employees and a customer. It appears this is also a location for big fishing tales.

Aside from large chain stores, I think this is the biggest tackle shop I have ever been in. One entire side(the size of a regular store) is dedicated to salt water fishing, and the other side(yes, another store sized area) is freshwater fishing. I went in there last weekend and told one of the older guys behind the counter that I had no background fishing for specks or flounder and I wanted him to set me up. I respect that he didn’t try to sell me the whole store, or try to flood me with information. He kept it simple, and around $ 25 bucks. He was also full of information on where to find the fish, and the best places to put my kayak in the water. It was a great experience, and I would recommend it to others.
