Surfside Oceanfront Inn and Suites

Was nice room hard to sit on balcony without kids throwing stuff down on you. Elevator was a big problem since my elderly mom was with us. Sometinmes waited a half hour for elevator since she could not take the stairs.

All ocean view rooms with coffee maker, fridge, and microwave. Good size room. Great selection for free hot breakfast.

We stayed at this location for a week and it was great! The staff was nice and friendly and the continental breakfast was actually pretty good too. The room had a nice view of the boardwalk and ocean and was very clean.
All in all, I would stay at this hotel again, gladly and the price was good too. Only thing I can think of that might be negative, was how steep the hill is to get into the parking garage and how tight the spaces are– other than that we had a relaxing trip, filled with great memorable times!

First time here at this hotel. Honeymoon. Suite is very nice and roomy with a wirlpool, comfortable king size bed, living room and kitchen. Front desk staff is very nice. Only complaint is the shower is a little small I’m 6’3″ 250 and its a lil on the cramped side in the shower.

Second time here. Came here last year after Memorial day. My bf and I were like the 10^th guest here however it was clean, quiet and it had great customer service.
This time for Memorial weekend, the hotel still looked the same. They are still fixing up the place. The guests are rowdy on my floor. I couldn’t sleep because there were people talking loudly outside at 2am. That was frustrating. But then again it is Memorial weekend = party time. And that is everywhere.
The breakfast room is complimentary. They serve DIY waffles, cereal, bagels, danish, etc. Basically your basic continental breakfast. There are two rooms with tables so there’s ample room.
In the lobby, there is the Fish Bones Buffet restaurant. It looks sketchy. There is als a convenience store and a bike rental. It also includes a fitness room.
Hotel price range is $ 110 — 250 for a double bed. Each room has a balcony and oceanfront view. The fifth floor has a pool and an outside view.
Overall the hotel is not bad for an independent business compare to contemporary chain hotels. If you support independent business, I recommend this place for you.

This is an oceanfront hotel, great location.
We stayed there in January and were the only guests in the hotel and didn’t care about that at all. Who normal goes on a vacation at an oceanfront hotel while it’s 20 degrees outside.

All the rooms have a balcony, love that. Our room was clean and comfortable. It was really cold outside and the room was so warm and cozy! The room has a fridge, microwave and a coffee maker.
We were on the second floor and love the fact that to get from our room to our car it took us less then a minute! Don’t have to go through reception.
They were doing some renovation during our stay, but didn’t have problem with that, no noise, just the sound of the waves.
There is a free breakfast included. Since we were the only guests in the hotel, they weren’t serving breakfast, so they send us to a hotel next door for a free all you can eat buffet! Amazing!
Free parking, free Wi-​Fi, nice staff. There is a coffee and juice machine in the lobby available 24 – 7.
They gave us a 10% discount card for our next visit and we do plan to come back!
Would definitely recommend.

Good hotel for the price, found the staff to be very friendly and the location is convenient to everything with some great views! Wish they would put in more ice machines though, having them on only 2 floors is a major inconvenience. Parking lot was full the last night of our stay from people attending a wedding (non-​hotel guests parking in hotel garage) which made parking a bit complicated our final night there. Overall a good hotel though, would stay there again

Breakfast is ok. The dinning room is way to small for the amount of people that stop in for breakfast. The hotel only has two elevators making the mornings and check in time pretty busy. (I used the stairs a ton).
But other than those two things I enjoyed my stay! It was the perfect location to walk to the pier and to the east coast surf championship (reason I was there). I will be back again!

Meh. Meh. Meh. This place was tremendously expensive for what we got. The hotel is pretty outdated, un air-​conditioned hallways, ice machines only on a couple floors, elevators that harken from the 1960s and take precious ten minute chunks of time to arrive, a pretty crappy breakfast and a pretty run-​down lobby. The electricity went out for 15 hours while we stayed there and it was *roasting* without the AC in the rooms. Not Surfside’s fault though, and the staff was very nice in trying to get everyone shunted to a big, free breakfast buffett at the Best Western next door. But the Best Western, which is Surfside’s sister hotel, was so much nicer. Updated. Ice machines on every floor. A spacious, clean lobby with cool, free drinks for people coming back and forth from the beach. We spent $ 680 for three nights and no one offered to comp anything, or give us any money off, given the inconvenience of the electricity outage. They didn’t let us check out a minute after 11 a.m. either. The staff was all friendly enough, but I imagine there are better places along Virginia Beach for the same price. There has to be.

Great location on the beach. It was neat that they provided wristbands with the address so when our teenagers went wandering they would know where to return. Rooms were clean and looks like they have been renovating bathrooms. Love the oceanfront view from every room. Staff was very friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

It’s an ok hotel in a great spot. Pretty clean (though there was a dead bug stuck in the fire-​escape plan sign on the inside of our front door), beds reasonably comfortable (you hardly notice the bed — you’re so tired from the beach, you could sleep on the ground!). The fridge in the room is a great touch — you’ll want to stock up on bottled water since the water in the area tastes like the beach. Every room has a balcony since every room faces the beach. The balcony door is really heavy, but you can use the microwave to prop it open.
Add ons: There is wi-​fi in the lobby, which we didn’t use. There is internet in the room if you bring the right cable (or else they’ll sell you that cable, for who knows what crazy rate). Each room has a DVD player attached to the tv, so if you want to bring a few DVDs, maybe during those high noon hours when the sun is too strong you can chill out with a movie. The breakfast that comes free consists mainly of carbs — danishes, donuts, cereal, bagels, and toast. There is free juice and coffee in the lobby 24/​7, so we found ourselves drinking a lot of lemonade during our stay. The pool is on the fifth floor. It’s not huge but big enough to swim around in – I’ve seen much smaller hotel pools.
About the elevators and the garage: You can get in through the building from the second or third floors. The elevators in the building are super, super slow, so if you are bringing a car, try to get a room on the second or third floors and then park near there to cut down on your need to use the elevator. Or else you might want to get a room up on the 9^th floor, because then you’ll get first crack at the elevators. Around 11 am when everyone is going down to the beach, you can wait for 20 minutes while several elevators go by so full of people that there’s no hope to get on.
The staff is not super helpful. I had a really weird experience — we were out of towels and almost out of TP. I called the front desk and asked, could they please send up some towels and a few rolls of toilet paper? The man said, «We can send you towels.» I said, «great, and some toilet paper?» and he said, «yes.» Then when someone rang our door a few minutes later, he only had towels. I asked about toilet paper, and he said that he hadn’t been told to bring toilet paper. I do not understand what went wrong there.
All told, the area is expensive, and you are paying to sleep with the beach sounds coming in from your balcony door. Surfside is acceptable, but I don’t know if I’d exactly be loyal to it if I could get a better deal somewhere else.
