Volcano Sushi Bar

I’ve heard rumors this place had good sushi so I decided to give it a try. The server was very prompt and pleasant. She took my order and shortly after I had a beautifully presented «Lunch Box». I ordered the seaweed salad separately, which was slightly spicy but very fresh, Spicy salmon roll, Hawaii roll, and the lunch box came with Miso soup, white rice, and salad with a delicious ginger dressing.
The rolls were a perfect combination of fish and rice, unlike most sushi places that give you very little meat and heavy on the rice. All-​in-​all a perfect lunch.

Used to be my trusty sushi place. Sad to say not anymore. My mom and I have had enough. I have had hair in my food multiple times over the years. One time my mom saw the owner stirring my take out soup WITH HER FINGER! She saw through the curtains to the kitchen. The most recent offense– we have been treated very rudely by the lady with short hair every time we have been recently. She was avoiding to come over to our table, so I walked up and I guess she didn’t see me coming, and SHE WAS FLOSSING HER TEETH IN THE CHAIR BY THE SINK! Not even floss sticks, straight up a string of floss, fingers in her mouth! Right by the kitchen! She was handling my food! As soon as she saw me standing in front of her she TRIED TO HIDE THE FLOSS! Never going back again even though I love the volcano roll.

Terrible customer service. Got food to go, the place wasn’t too busy. Was ignored until they could get their act together and take my order. Once my food was ready, the female working there just stuck it in my face without saying a word. I asked if it was for me, she said yes, so I took it and left. Wtf.

Christmas tree and eartquake rolls were my favorite. Volcano was kinda boring with flavor. Service was good and presentation of rolls were good. I’ll be coming back for sure. Overall good experience. Tuna was definitely fresh tasting.

We came in for a late staff lunch after trying to head to Sakura, which closed at 2pm. I’m certainly glad they did because this place was delicious!
I was initially a little sad that they didn’t offer AYCE sushi, but they do have «happy hour specials» including discounted rolls and appetizers. They offer lunch bento boxes which allow you to choose 2 unique items from a lengthy list of rolls and entrees and pair it with miso soup, salad with ginger dressing and white rice.
It’s quite a lot to eat for $ 8. All of our choices — rolls, yaki soba, shumai — and the accompanying items were fresh and delicious. I would frequent this place over AYCE so that says something.
There were a few other tables dining around 3pm. Service was friendly and very fast.
I look forward to another lunch here!

This is one of those standby faithful places. They have their day-​in, day out thing down pat. The sushi is good quality, and the Bento box is a great deal no matter what your choice is. This particular visit, it just so happens I sent for the Sushi lunch, and often when you get those, you get 6 pieces of different sushi. I don’t know if the chef was just feeling lazy, but I got 1 Tuna, 2 shrimp, 2 white fish, and a salmon, plus the Cali roll. IT was all fine and well, but guess just wasn’t what I was expecting. The server was polite, quiet but attentive, and I am sure I will be back because I can always at least depend on good, quality food in a clean quiet place. See you there, and Happy Unilocaling!

Love this place, my go to sushi spot!!! We order to pick up or dine in for lunch all the time. I am not sold on the miso soup yet, but I still love the adorable lunch box specials.

Overall, the experience was good. While I am used to ordering sushi by marking a paper menu, they take their orders orally. I was a bit concerned, as I had asked for an item to be left out of a roll, and then rattled off a list of a-​la-​carte items. They did get the order right, which is refreshing.
The tuna was a nice, dark red and at a good temperature, neither partially frozen, nor overly warmed by the sushi rice. They also have some interesting special rolls on their menu.
Overall, it was a good meal. I’m only dropping to four stars because I can’t help but comparing all sushi to a much higher-​end restaurant I used to frequent closer to the west coast that took in daily air parcels of fish from Japan.

The service was good but the food was just ok. I had been craving sushi and wanted to try a new place. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed. The sushi wasn’t bad but the portions were on the smaller side. I got a bento box to share with my daughter thinking it would be plenty but the teriyaki chicken was super small. It’s too bad because this restaurant isn’t too far from where I live but I don’t plan on going back.

Miso soup was rich in flavor. Hot tea had good taste. The gyoza was fried well and enjoyed the thickness of the sauce that goes with it. I hate places that have the runny sauce for the gyoza. The spiderman, spicy tuna, and spicy Salman rolls were super fresh. Large soft crab shell in the spiderman roll and chunks of tuna and salman in the other ones made a difference. Many other places don’t have chunks of sushi in their spicy rolls. We will be back for sure.

Check your food before leaving. Ordered Unagi Don, which is listed as grilled eel over a bed of rice. Got avocado on top with the Unagi when I got home. Would be good if I wasn’t allergic. Had to drive back to have them remake it.
Normally I check, but I was the only customer when I went in to order to-​go so I assumed no issues. I’ve eaten at too many sushi places to count and have never had to check Unagi Don for surprise avocado.

Visited the one on Princess Anne. Loved it. Especially love the bento box option. Great way to try new stuff and a great option for those who are with someone apprehensive about sushi. Good prices and good food.

Easily the worst sushi I’ve had in the area. Bad food, bad drinks, absolutely disgusting. My mouth tasted like sinkwater when I left. I will never be back.

Food is good, our waitress was awesome, but they decided to clean the carpet while we were eating, waitress asked if it was ok but then we were surrounded by cleaning fumes, they refunded our meal but given my wife is pregnant with our second, not like we get to go out a lot, y’all messed it up jackasses, will eat there again but will check to see what idiots are managing the place that night

Excellent place to eat and the staff is always very welcoming. I wish you could see a picture of each item, because they have some cool stuff on the menu. I frequent this place for lunch because they have awesome lunch specials.

Best sushi in town! The shrimp tempora roll and volcano are def worth a try. I’ve came here for lunch a few times and it’s was fairly fast service. Just writing about it makes me want to go there tomorrow. :)

This was our first visit to Volcano, and we are sure it will not be our last. We went fairly late on a Thursday night, and there was only a party of four in the restaurant besides us. We sat at the bar to watch the action. Since it was not busy, we were served quickly. The staff was extremely warm, light and friendly. We ordered and then sat back and chatted with the sushi chef while he prepared our food. We talked recipes and tips and sushi restaurants in the area.
The food was wonderful! We ordered the Rainbow roll, the Dragon, the Earthquake and the Christmas Tree. Each was delicious, large and extremely fresh. We also had miso soup and the avocado salad. Delicious! Try the hot sake with the meal. Each of the staff was warm and delightful. The food was yummy. What more could you want from a restaurant?

First offence, a bug in the fried rice. Second offence, we were charged for the replacement rice sans bug. Third offence — and this is what seals the one star review — after leaving a 20% tip (despite the bug and extra charge — I understand mistakes happen), the owner had the audacity to come out to the parking lot and demand $ 1 more for the tip. I have never seen such disgraceful behavior. They are sure to lose many more dollars than they gain with such a rude and entitled attitude.

Enjoyed twice, was vacationing in Sandbridge coming with champagne NJ/​NY experiences. Excellent sushi and service, reasonably priced, catered to small children and non-​sushi eaters! LOVED IT

I’m a bit perplexed as to how this location has poor reviews and the other Va Beach location was given stellar reviews.
I ate here a few nights ago and the service was super friendly and very warm. Sushi was prepared in a timely matter and fairly excellent. Like the other location you’re expected to order verbally in lieu of the check off sheet– for most people this isn’t a problem, but for fatties like us makes the ordering process a little less smooth.
