Amazing restaurant. Great service, and great food, dont let grouchy reviewers keep you from going here, they dont know what they’re talking about

Love Love this spot! The staff is always friendly and welcoming, I always order the Beef Stew Phở, which is my favorite. I’ll choose this place over and phở spot in the Hampton Roads area. It is also a big plus that they have O’Conners on tap! Anytime I have family that comes in town this is one of the places that I take them to everytime. The owner is super friendly, and anytime he has something new he is thinking about adding to the menu, such as a appetizer he lets try it for free! He is very creative funny guy. What the Phở is my go to spot!

Great Vietnamese phở noodle soup. The owner is very friendly. Were glad to have a phở noodle place on shore drive!

I was asked to leave because I had a service dog and the owner was afraid of problems with the health department. I wasn’t ask by the owner but a messenger. ADA mandates full access to public places. It’s the law. 1−800−514−0301 department of justice to learn something

Food was OK, but we walked out hungry after dinner, back in August. That’s a real turn off for me. Portions were very small, even for the kids. Won’t go back and cannot recommend.

Came in here on a dreary wet day and man does phở always taste better on those kinds of days. Our server was very friendly brought us water and hot tea. We then got an order of spring rolls each. Very good I love the peanut sauce! I ordered the sliced beef phở, small and man was that plenty. I actually had left overs to have later that night. It was pretty dead when we went only bc we went in between lunch and dinner. Overall, a good phở experience. It’s not often that I crave it but, when I do this will be my go to spot.

Really yummy phở. Was craving some Asian food so my husband and I decided to try this place out. Owner was very friendly and walking by to the tables making sure we were enjoying the food. I ordered the seafood phở with the Vietnamese coffee. Only giving it a 4 star due to them being out of the coconut drink and our server was a little off. Overall I would definitely come back for more.

This place continually disappoints. We’ve given several chances for them to get it right. Tonight I called to order pickup and the person on the phone asks to put me on hold. So after waiting more than 5 minutes on hold I hung up and called back. Again the same woman answers and I say I would like to place an order and she asks to put me on hold, I said no thanks I would like to order, she then hangs up on me. I’ve never experienced such rude customer service. Don’t ask if you can put someone on hold and then hang up when they say no thanks.

3.5 stars Service here is nice. We came with a big group of people around 8PM after dolphin watching with a craving for phở. The servers pushed four tables together to make room for us all and the manager came out to talked to us. She told us that the broth was simmered for 2 days. The broth was very good-I liked it a lot! However, some flaws. Asked for a water and never received it. One of the waters I received had a bug in it… nasty. Never got a replacement for that water either.

Something is up… first time here in about 4 – 5 months. And this is only my 2nd time in for lunch. No longer serving wine or liquor. Beer only now. Also, big change to the Phở. Mine came out already pre mixed. Noodles, onions and meat already in the broth. I’m one who likes to mix myself. Noticeably less meat than my previous experiences. The broth is still one of my favorites. I’m hoping that this is just an off day. And not a sign of permanent changes. I’ll still give them another shot.

My «go– to» place. Fresh food, friendly staff. I will definitely continue to support. I love that the rice is fried and not colored with beef base. You guys gotta give this place a try.

I had the number 16. Phở with steak, brisket, and meat balls. It was very freah and really good. I really enjoyed my meal. I got the number 2 appetizer. It was really good! The wait was not to bad but the taste made up for it.

I have loved Phở since the day that my Vietnamese co-worker took me to «her» place downtown in The Valley(in Los Angeles). Now, anytime I move to a new place my first order of business is find my go-to Mexican place, and Phở joint for my little slice of home. Admittedly, I already have a REALLY great Phở place that I go whenever I have a hankering… but to find a new one that is walking distance from home… ANDDELIVERS!!! Yes please!!! What I hoped would be a match made in heaven… was anything but. Our waiter was prompt and exceptionally courteous, the prices were almost reasonable, the fried wontons are decent, and the water is cold but that is where anything nice I have to say ends. When we walked in the place was a ghost town, but being that we’d heard good things we opted to believe it was merely we were there too early. The decore is reminiscent of a failing diner with random«asian» splashes. The sweet tea tasted like it was days old. The Phở options were sadly sparse and the actual product was akin to watered down Campbells chicken noodle… and neither of us ordered chicken. My glass had a large chip in the bottom and while we were there a customers tumbler glass broke in her hand, and unless she has some kind of hulk-like powers I significantly doubt her 120lb self would have done it from sheer strength while lifting to take a sip. I may try again to see how the Bön Mi is… but somehow I doubt it will be any less a disappointment than the Phở. Guess I will continue driving over to Hilltop for my Phở.

«Welcome to WHATTHEPHO!!! Please sit anywhere you like!» :sits down at an open table: NOYOUCANNOTSITTHERE! Wow, this just got really awkward. Should we leave? Is this an indicator of the quality of food and service? Little did we know, but the answer was yes. It became more awkward when other customers came in and tried to sit at THE table. At one point, the manager came out there and debated whether or not to make them move, RIGHTINFRONTOFTHEM, AREYOUKIDDINGME?! I could hear them all the way across the room! WOW… Our server was new, however the other server did not mind making that known publicly about a million times. She was excruciatingly unprofessional. It was so embarrassing. Our food was not that great either. They forgot the cilantro in the phở… The chili paste was disgusting. I would go into detail about the food, but there’s just no need to, just don’t eat here. ALSO, the prices on my check did not match the prices on the menu. I didn’t debate it because I just wanted to leave as soon as possible.

What the… So first impression when walking in was good nice greeting and smile, sit wherever you’d like.. okay by the window.. No you can’t sit there! ! We’ll that was odd and very uncomfortable. I was going to walk back out, but decided ooookay let’s just see where this goes. The service was eh. Mind you the lady who told us we couldn’t sit where I wanted was hovering by so it made me uneasy. They have egg noodle dishes that’s cool, but no indication of what the Boba flavors were. I had to yell over to the server to get his attention and he yelled back the flavors I felt like I was in the streets for a min. The crushed ice in the cup was nice, the ceiling fans were unique. Another group say after us and they sat right where we wanted to sit, but it was awkward bc the worst was being told they couldn’t sit there. Yet they didn’t have to move.. umm what? The food was okay nothing spectacular, the Boba wasn’t good bc the pearls treated like they had gravel from the parking lot in it. I had to spit them out and just drink the smoothie part. Later on we got the explination that the server was new and learning, why wasn’t this explained right from the get go. The server never checked back on us. Never got refills, I just wanted to eat and go — overall horrible experience.

My husband and I where very exited to find this place after our fav Phở soup place closed«Great saigon» we came here at least 3 times, and service was never really good, but then i started noticing there was only one waitress for the whole place that’s why we kept coming back, thinking she’s busy we get it. But last time we came here was just ridicules! my husband and I walked in, we sat, got the menus. 10 – 15 min later still waiting, no one has come to take our order, or our drinks, or even say hello… 20min, and we are just getting mad, in the meantime the owner is hanging out with people sitting at the table next to us, laughing not even taking a min to ask if we got our orders in, or if we got water. we where very upset and dissapointed that we just got up and Left and drove to Phở 79. it’s ridicules, how can you expect to run a business like this? Never going back.

Just finished my Shrimp bun. Last night I had the pork bun at Miss Saigon across the street. I must say that What the Phở! is far better with fresher ingredients and tastier herbs. They catered to my individual taste by subbing the mint with cilantro. The eggrolls at WTP were crispy and well filled whereas my eggrolls at Miss Saigon were chewy, greasy and heavier on the pastry side. The only disappointment was that the only hot tea they had was Lipton! I was told they hoped to have Jasmin tea soon. It appears they also have plum wine, but I wasn’t in the mood. They did offer me a taste of the Plum wine. It was okay. I still love Fu-Ki more. The Plum wine I tasted was from California.

After eating here three times during the past two weeks, I would like to offer my first impressions. Let me begin by saying that the service I have received here so far has been very friendly, accommodating, and even jovial. When I walked through the door for my second visit, several of their staff members greeted me in unison with a loud«What The Phở!» I loved that. The very name of this place alone makes me want it to succeed. However, I think they still have a little more work to do if they are actually going to succeed. In the spirit of my desire to see them do so, a description and review of each of the items I have sampled so far, along with my addiional comments, appear below: GIOCUON(Menu Item #1) — These are the fresh spring rolls that are served at practically all Vietnamese restaurants. Overall, their spring rolls were very good. I enjoyed the dense concentration of mint and basil in their filling. As one other reviewer noted, however, they were not wrapped as tightly as they could have been. As mentioned in one of my other reviews, I loved the crunch that was made possible by the tightly wrapped fillings of the spring rolls served at another Vietnamese resaurant, namely Vietnam Garden. Another minor concern is that I like my spring rolls to be served with a little more chill. The ones I have sampled here were served a tad too much at room temperature for my tastes. PHOTAINAMBO(Menu Item #14) — This Phở soup contained various and assorted cuts of beef. The broth was very flavorful, and I have no complaints about the quality of the beef cuts or any of the other ingredients. PHOGA(Menu Item #15) — This is their Chicken Phở. Once again, the broth was very flavorful. The chicken pieces were succulent and tender. Overall, it was delicious, and I hated to see it come to an end. This one is my favorite so far. BUNBOHUE(Menu Item #26) — This is a spicy beef soup which is served with a thicker noodle than the usual rice noodles in Phở soup. This is what I ordered today. I have sampled Bun Bo Hue at three other restaurants in the area, including Miss Saigon Sandwiches and Noodles(which is located right across the street), Phở Dalat in Chesapeake, and Phở 79 in Ghent. Unfortunately, the Bun Bo Hue served here today was the weakest of the lot. The noodles were undercooked, the beef slices were sparse, and the broth was not very spicy. I actually had a 4-star rating in mind going in today, until I sampled their Bun Bo Hue. In contrast, the Bun Bo Hue served at Phở 79 in Ghent, which includes a nice meat bone for extra flavor and depth, has been the best I have tried in the area so far. Another concern is their portion sizes. During each of my three visits, I ordered the«Small» size servings of each of their soups. However, these servings appeared to be smaller than the«Small» sized servings I have sampled in other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. The size of their bowls seems to be a tad smaller. In addition, I found my servings to be filled a little too far below the rim of the bowls. There was simply too much empty space between the top surface of the soups and the rim of the bowls when they were brought to my table. Personally, I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing. As one who is trying to cut back on calories, I don’t mind getting«a little less.» But not to the extent of walking out still feeling hungry, like I did today after finishing my Bun Bo Hue. This is a soup that is supposed to stick to your ribs. The bottom line is that the«Small» serving sizes of their soups don’t seem to be competitive with the others of the«Small» sizes in this area. The«Small» serving sizes at Phở 79, for example, provide a significantly larger portion of soup than those which are served here. If they can’t switch to a larger«Small» size bowl, then I think they should at least fill them a little closer to the rim. Another thing that worries me is that they are competing with another Vietnamese restaurant located right across the street, namely Miss Saigon Sandwiches and Noodles, which is more established. I don’t think this will be an easy task. I am rooting for this restaurant to succeed. Accordingly, I hope this review is taken in the spirit of the constructive criticism with which it is intended.
