As Louie CK says, «The meal is not over when I’m full. The meal is over when I hate myself.» This happens every time I visit this taqueria. My sister lives in Walnut Creek and introduced me to this gem on a whim. I’ve been a few times and every time I’ve gone home hating myself because of how much I ate… I just couldn’t stop the food was so good. I’ve had the tacos and the burritos and I’ve been happy with all the things I’ve ordered. Since San Ramon doesn’t have any good Mexican spots anymore, I have no problem coming out to Walnut Creek for WC Taqueria.

This place is bomb AF, never fails to satisfy my hunger, its affordable, good beer selections, and its open late on the nights that matter with a DANK late night menu. TRYIT

This place never fails, and its longevity reflects that they are doing a few things very right. I’m not delighted with the dining area since it is crowded, but the food is consistently good over the 20 years or so we’ve been coming to this restaurant.

So disappointing! Worst burrito ever and I love Mexican food! The chicken tasted old and bland, but there Salsa is good.

I came in this place about 3 months ago, and I’ve been coming at least once a week ever since. Granted I get the same thing every time, but I like it. I usually get 4 Carne Asada tacos, California style, cheese it. For me this place is the best! Good food great price, about $ 2 per taco, nice location. They are also opened late. I recommend if you are in the area

I see they have a new menu! The pastor torta was tasty… next time it will be the chorizo torta. Always a tasty place to go!

NOT a cheap place to eat. We paid $ 15.00 for two 6″ chicken tacos, 1 tiny minuscule 1.5″ steak taco and a small soda. The food was good, the staff was friendly, the service was slooooow. We were left hungry, but didn’t want to wait any longer for more food.

The best thing I have to say about this place is the staff is nice. The tortilla around the burrito were mushy. The menu is confusing. It’s $ 10 for a burrito and the ingredients were so bland and not cooked well it was… insulting. That is how I feel… insulted. What happened to people caring about the food they make and just TRYING in the least to make tasty food??? Over cooked steak, and extra dollar for chili verde? that is bland and boring… I’m just so sad and now angry I just spent $ 20.

This place used to be the best Mexican joint around — I would go out of my way to get their chicken burritos. The new menu/management have turned it into a wannabe 360 Burrito. The menu is confusing, the service is slow, and the food, oh the food. I learned this the hard way; I was in town and started craving their chicken burrito… did I mention they used to make the most delicious chicken? My wife and I ordered to go… waited for about 15 minutes to get our food, which seemed a little long but hey, it’s good chicken. As I saw my order being put together, I went to get salsa from their salsa bar and then noticed… oh, no more salsa bar. Weird decision to save a few bucks I guess. So I got my food and headed home… when I got home, I had a piece of my daughter’s chicken quesadilla and noticed the chicken tasted like it had BBQ Sauce on it… not BBQ flavor from cooking over charcoal, but BBQSAUCE. Like pre-pack BBQ chicken from Costco drenched in sweet Texas BBQ sauce. WTF? I hope they didn’t mess with the chicken in my burrito — oh, they did. Why in the world would you put sweet BBQ sauce on «authentic» Mexican food? It was disgusting. I’m so sad the old Taqueria is gone. Shame on the new management for cutting costs and ruining the food at what was once a great local spot.

So I tried you once and you were ok. The Horchata was to cinnamony and the food a little pricey. Tried you a second time and not so good. I had my two children in my car out front illegally parked because it is Walnut Creek and no parking is the norm, while I waited. My super bean and cheese burrtio turn into bean, cheese, and rice– kids don’t like rice, but you had no customers and my food sat on the counter until I went in knowing that I was waiting outside. Good service would have included curbside for the price. Burritos were not that big. Tasted good.

OK, the Taqueria used to be an icon of great authentic Mexican food in the Creek for decades. This new remodeling and mgmt has effectively taken it in the wrong direction. 1) the menu has been slashed from prior to the remodel. There is no more giant burritos and no more chimichangas on the menu, among other items missing. Mgmt has tried to California-ize what was an outstanding Mexican food institution in WC. Very sad. 2) And this is what really irritates me. I bring in the certificate for $ 10 off of $ 20 or more of food. I give it to the cashier PRIOR to even placing my order. The cashier neglects to include the discount and a simple $ 10 credit card refund turns into a 20 minute wait for the mgr to get a callback from the credit card processor. Mgr also tells me I did not follow«procedure» and give the certificate before ordering, which I absolutely did do and they even had the certificate in their cash register while we ate our food and waited for them to get it sorted out. I do not appreciate being told I did not follow the procedure for redeeming the certificate when that is factually incorrect. If mgmt does not want to honor coupons then dont sign up for their discount program, but dont find creative ways to discourage your customers from using it if they do want to continue on this program. I will not be going back there again. What was once a unique Mexican food environment in WC is now nothing different from Burrito 360 or the Mexican food restaurant across the street next to SF Creamery.

Amazing food. I’m from San Diego and this has to be in the top 5 of Mexican places I have been. A few twists on some rather traditional foods but they seem to work. Fresh ingredients. I highly recommend this place. It’s hard to miss bc signage is not clear but just to the right of peets.

Found out it’s not new owners, just new management. Make sure you ask about a daily special(it wasn’t advertised today for example, but was under $ 5). They already seem to have improved on processes, and today’s burrito was delicious. A little pricier than the old place, but still authentic Mexican deliciousness.
