After moving into our new place, I did a lot of shopping around on furniture: online, IKEA, Jordan’s, Pier 1, Macy’s, Crate + Barrel, and some other places that slip my mind. This gave me a pretty good sense of how much furniture cost, and taught me that inexpensive furniture is nearly always either particle board/pressboard or not very well put together… sadly, solid wood furniture simply isn’t cheap. This place has more-expensive hardwood options, but also offers pine furniture, which is a great compromise between pressboard and hardwood. It’s not as durable as hardwood — it’ll ding and dent more easily — but it’s also MUCH less expensive.(I’d recommend getting it stained, though; unstained it really grabs dirt.) I’ll wholeheartedly recommend any in-house pieces you can see before you buy, and their finishing(staining) services; I’ve had great luck(and great customer service) with both. Sadly, I can’t recommend their custom-made furniture. My wife and I have both had some larger pieces done, and: A. The subcontractor who does the custom-building screwed things up both times — and multiple times in a row on the second occasion.(Shattering a pane of glass in my workroom on one visit.) Now, the owner of Woodstuff Too was *really* good about getting the guy out there to fix the problems(at no additional charge), but there comes a point where the sheer hassle of having to deal with repeated visits to fix something overwhelms the desire to get it right, so I ended up settling for«good enough» — not what I want out of a custom-order experience. B. Little details are sloppy. For example, one piece I got includes variable-height shelving — but the holes for them aren’t entirely level with each other(so the shelves wobble between back-left and front-right), and many of them are so tight I have to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to get the shelf supports in and out. Some of the drawers have gapping, or are misaligned. [This was all around 2011 or so; this review was half-written until Unilocal reminded me to finish it.]

This is a real quality furniture store. Totally cool and casual with a real expert working behind the desk. Yes, you will pay more, but you’re buying real hard wood pieces that will last you a lifetime. That said, the prices are competitive or better than places like Boston Interiors who carry the same stuff at a higher price. Be sure to ask to see the catalogs. Not everything is displayed on the floor.

The owner didn’t deliver what I ordered. The cases were supposed to have a decorative«frame» around the perimeter of the cases’ instead he gave me an additional«frame» in front of a fixed shelf. My goal was to get cases that looked custom-built, instead, the cases I got look cheap and store-bought. Problem One — owner showed me a mini-model at the shop of what I will be ‘getting’. There was NO frame on a fixed shelf in the model. So the owner misrepresented what I was buying(he showed me one thing, but delivered another). Problem Two — owner totally denied any responsibility for the error. Even worse, he started yelling at me telling me I was the one who made a mistake. I even offered to try to fix the problem myself — and asked for only some guidance on how to remove the frame that I didn’t order. First, he gave me completely wrong instructions, and later when I asked for correct instructions, he simply ignored me. My loss — over $ 250 in repair time and supplies. STAYAWAY from this ‘nightmare’ shop. The previous owner ran it into the ground, but at least he was a nice guy. The current owner is not only running the place into the ground(again), but treats his customers like they’re enemies. BUYATYOUROWNRISK!!!

Woodstuff Too has some ok furniture for college kids. I would consider it average(3 stars) except for one experience. I ordered a piece of furniture and quickly called back to cancel. They had not started and were able to cancel the order, but still charged me a 25% fee. At the time, a couple hundred dollars made a difference to me. Because one of their staff that told us we would get a refund, I spoke with the manager who told me I did not hear correctly(rather than apologizing for the confusion and explaining that he had to charge the fee anyways). In the end, I returned to get my 75%. Based on my interactions, I cannot rate it A-Ok.

I love this place! Great furniture pieces for all décor and rooms. Excellent customer service with knowledgable staff. Also owner operated which I really love. Clearly the owner stands behind the products he sells. We’ve gotten our children furniture, kitchen set, futon, etc over the years and are very satisfied with the quality. Fair pricing and great value. I recommend this store on all accounts. You really won’t be disappointed!

Quality craftsmanship, and lots on unfinished selections so you can stain it yourself or use a mineral oil to match other furniture. It’s a little on the pricey side, but every piece is custom made so you can find something that fits your needs.
