This place has done a complete 180. New management have made good decisions and I will now be a returning customer. Bartender Craig was extremely nice and friendly. Great deals on burgers, and a welcoming atmosphere. It’s not the same ghetto dive bar it once was.

Great place if you’re looking a good meal and great price drinks! Fun low key atmosphere with lots of flat screens for watching whatever game is on! The food is great and they have deals everyday on different meal options. My favorite day is half off wings on Mondays. But check out their site for all the different deals they’re having everyday!

Came in during a snowy day for the tacos special on Tuesdays. Great beer selection, one of the few places that sells Kentucky Bourbon Ale in the bar! I chose the beef tacos and my fiancé had the chicken tacos. Mine were great and the guacamole was perfect. My fiancé’s chicken was dry and not very seasoned. The Korean BBQ wings we had for an app were great as well. Fun vibe inside the bar and friendly bartender. Looking forward to visiting again in the summer.

I was starting to lose faith, but apparently, Playmakers is under new management and it’s done a complete 180 over the last couple of months — they hired some fun new bartenders, revamped their draft beers and the food is some of the best bar food I’ve ever had(pulled pork sandwich is amazing!) So glad to see them heading in the right direction!

Wow! Craig the manager offered to reserve a table for my friends for the Ronda fight and we also got gifts for coming. I have never ever experienced such kindness from an establishment especially in the Boston area. Will Definitely Be Back

We were having a great time, talking at a corner of the bar(3 of us) I had a Moscow mule, and after I had ordered a second, and was about to order a third, the bartender accused me of stealing one of their Moscow mule cups and proceeded to threaten to charge us $ 30 for the cup and refuse to serve us. I offered up my jacket for the bar manager, «Joe» to search, and he refused, but still insisted that I had taken the stupid cup. One of the guys in my party asked to speak with the manager, to which«Joe» responded that he was the manager and refused to give us his last name. We would have been happy to stay there and continue giving them our business, but after being wrongly accused of theft, will NEVER set foot in that establishment again, and I strongly suggest that you don’t either.

I logged on to commend the staff and the experience I’ve been having the last couple of months as I am here on business and I noticed the actual rating for Unilocal which made me ask questions. So what I know is that management has recently changed and Craig has done a fabulous job replacing the staff that would have drawn such previous reviews. The food is always great and always in great time from order to arrival. Depending on the day it can be low key or hopping entertainment. If you’re a sports fan you’ll never have to strain your eyes with the number of flat screens and a good mixture of sports when necessary. If you’re not a fan don’t worry because the volume is balanced for social outings too. To sum it up, if you haven’t been in a while you should give it another try and if you’ve never been you should change that! They will not disappoint.

Moved to the area a few months ago, and this is where we went before deciding to move. The service was great, the food is good, it’s really clean, and ultimately, we decided to move to the area! We are back at Playmakers again and nothing has changed! Keep it up, guys! :)

The poor reviews I’ve read are confusing. This is an unpretentious sports bar, that has a solid menu of standard food and a great variety of beers on tap, including some seasonal and local craft selections. My wife and I sat at the bar for a quick bite and drink before a movie down the street, and were tempted to bail on the movie and stick around. My medium rare burger was cooked to order, which is uncommon these days. The tap lines were clean and the beer cold. The staff was attentive without being pushy, and a fellow IPA junky was happy to provide samples to help me make a good decision. If you did not enjoy your time here it is probably because you wanted something other than what they offer. There are plenty of options on Moody Street for fancier palates… come to Playmakers for good bar food, nice beer selection and plenty of TVs to catch whatever game you’re into. We’ll be back!

Can I just say I just moved to the area and Amy and Danielle has made me a fan of Playmakers. I also happen to meet one of the managers, Craig, who happen to be in on his day off. So as a good Unilocaler I had to write in… But first let me read the reviews… Over some fantastic wings I read that people didn’t care for the wings and as a diligent fan for the winged appetizer I felt these were awesome. Also tried the chicken parm sandwich and nachos. The specials and food was on par with this type of venue. Really tasty, I will be returning.

Solid sports bar. Great service. You can’t go wrong here. I ordered the turkey burger and the Summer shandy. Decent food and the burgers were half off on Wednesdays. For the price, you can’t go wrong.

Stay away. Probably the worst bar in town. Terrible service and terrible food. Wings are overcooked. They taste like they were in a frozen 15 minutes before. Their sauce are unoriginal. When you order a Jack on the rock, it shouldn’t come with lime. You want a better sports bar: Go to Joco’s or Shoppers.

Stopped in because the women’s World Cup was on and stayed because the service and selection of beers was great. Bartenders were attentive and poured with care. I ordered some ice cream(not sure it was on the menu) and got three scoops of delectable vanilla! And then USA won! Must have been playmakers.

We walked in and had to ask the staff where to sit. We sat down with my wife, daughter and I. The bartender walks over with no menu or drink list. I ask for a drink list the bartender asked what I wanted. The bartender then proceeds to walk back behind the bar and chat up people at the bar. We walked out

Been here so many times since it is just 3 minutes walking from where we live. Today we have the best meat lovers pizza. The dough is crunchy and cooked just the right temperature. So good that we ate the crust as well. Good beers, cheap too compared to other bars. Highly recommend!

Everything that has been said happened. No silverware, no refills(unless pushed), the same pint glass used again and again. Sub par food, no patrons. This place has to be a front for something less than savory– otherwise, I have absolutely no idea how they are still in business. Standard pub fare, non excellence. I blame myself and my impulsiveness. I did not read the reviews and after being forced to sit out on a much better reviewed joint, I ended up here. Extra credit goes to the utter ballsiness to not even hide the kitchen from site.

This bar has so much potential to be a really good, but my experience here was not great. I rather walk down the street to other bars for many reasons which I will explain below. We came on football Sunday to watch the Pats and a few other games. Came to find out that they do not have all of the NFLTV channels/packages, which I think is very odd for a sports bar! They have 17+ TV’s and every single TV was showing the Patriots game. I noticed a party of 5 came in and they were Raven fans, they quickly left when Playmakers couldn’t get the game on due to their insufficient NFLTV package. Bar/Bartender: The Pats game started at 1pm, we arrived at the bar at noon, we were the only two in the bar until 12:55 which I found to be odd. The bartender was definitely new and had no idea what he was doing. He was very nice but there were a few things that were odd. He asked me what I wanted to drink, I replied«Stella, please», he then repeated something else, I said«No, Stella please». He then told me to point on the menu where Stella was, I pointed. He then points to the beer taps and asks me «do you even see it on the tap?» I said«Yes, it has its own fancy tap with a lit up Stella sign on it». Ok great now he sees it! So I have my first beer and there is about an inch of beer left in the glass, the same bartender ask me if I would like another. I say«yes, please». The bartender then takes my dirty glass with an inch of beer in it and then pours more Stella into it! I was a little pissed off that he didn’t have me finish it and also that he didn’t get me a fresh pint glass. Very odd, dirty and I just wasted a beer and then also paid a full price for a new beer that wasn’t full! The re-usage of my pint glass continued on and I learned to finish my glass before asking for another. Food: Food was not the best. We got a chicken quesadilla with guacamole. You could tell the guac was not freshly made, instead it was packaged guac with that horrible preservative taste. The quesadilla was ok… but not that great. We then got the Honey BBQ chicken tenders and those were pretty good. We should of just gotten wings(bone in or boneless). Honestly I didn’t see a lot of plates coming out of the kitchen, just mainly drinks. I also saw the cook/chef come out of the kitchen a lot to watch the game, so you know the kitchen wasn’t busy. We ended up leaving the bar on the start of the third quarter and headed to Shoppers Café down the street. I wasn’t happy with Playmakers service, the food or the bartender who kept asking me for our tabs name and what beer we were drinking. I understand you might be new, but the bar was empty(30% full) and can’t you organize the tabs to see where your parties are located? As a sports bar, you really need to have all NFL channels and games available or people are going to leave. Playmakers was never packed on Sunday Football and it should of been. They really need to get better bartenders with more experience and up their food quality. I won’t return, I’ll go up the street to the Gaff, Joco’s or Shoppers Café.

Laid back bar with lots of TVS and good background music to listen to. The portions were huge and the food was really great for a sports bar. I say that if you are looking to grab a quick bite to eat while watching the game, this is your place. It’s not a gourmet experience, but who expects it to be?
