To entertain my folks when they came to visit over the holidays, we booked a private tour. We wanted them to see the memorials but also do something special for the holidays. We emailed Adam from Custom Tours of DC and very quickly he came back with a plan to see the memorials lit up at night along with a plan to see the National Christmas Tree. He also took us to a very nice hotel nearby that was decorated beautifully and that had a choir performing. That evening’s festivities put us in the Christmas spirit and was a highlight of their visit, my parents said. I highly recommend this Adam and Custom Tours of DC

I want to express my appreciation for the job Custom Tours of DC did for me and my family. I could have driven them around, but I would have spent so much time trying to park and dealing with traffic. Instead I booked a private tour. Adam worked with me over the phone setting up our itinerary. We went in an SUV with our guide Tracy and our driver Monte for a 5 hour tour. They took us to the memorials on the Mall, into the National Cathedral, and we drove around to all the sites we wanted to see. I’ve been in DC for 11 years now, but I never learned so much until this tour. Tracy was amazing with her knowledge of history and the city. I can’t overstate how nice it was to have the luxury of a driver and guide. The whole experience was great from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for more. Thanks to everyone!

Adam was great! We had a large group of international graduate students who had just arrived in DC and Adam did a great job of making the new city come alive for them. It was a walking tour of the Mall and Adam’s knowledge of the big monuments and also some off-​the-​beaten-​path things was amazing. He worked closely with us to be sure the tour worked with our schedule and our needs, and the resulting tour was great. I highly recommend him!

I was looking for something out of the ordinary when visiting DC with my girlfriend. Not wanting to be stuck in the Museums with thousands of school field trips wearing matching t-​shirts I turned to Custom DC Tours. Glad I did. My tour guide, Adam, came up with a nice custom package.
We started with from a marina. The captain took us up to Georgetown Waterfront. Adam pointed out monuments along the way. Seeing the Lincoln memorial from the water was really cool. Adam also filled us in on historic significance of some of the features like the mouth of the C&O canal. The tour continued upstream where we stopped and were able to swim at the Three Sisters. I had specified a nice picnic which Adam had ready to go.
As involved as our tour was I found the pricing very reasonable, considering a private boat tour and a sizeable boat as well.
Adam arranged everything, soup to nuts.

I would highly recommend Custom Tours of DC and specifically, Adam, for your DC tour needs. I have been fortunate to have had several tours with Adam including several corporate events. My nonprofit organization was looking for someone to take us around DC and show us the sights at night. Considering most of us were local we were looking for something low key, but fun. Adam did a fantastic job of not only sitting down with us ahead of time to get an idea of what we were looking for, but he anticipated any other needs we might have had as well. His knowledge of the city, it’s monuments and it’s history was phenomenal. We did have to alter our itinerary a bit during the experience, and I couldn’t believe how adaptable they were and how quickly they could make on-​the-​fly adjustments. The event went so well that we hired Adam several more times for different events.
Because of the great experience my office had with Adam, I recommended him and Custom Tours of DC to my friends and relatives that have visited Washington, and they have had nothing but rave reviews for him and the company. Many of them loved the stories about the city, and even the kids were entertained. As a result, I will continue to recommend Custom Tours of DC to visiting guests. Believe me, if you’re visiting DC for the first time or even if you’ve lived here all your life and want to see the city from a fresh (and fun) perspective, these are the folks you want and need to hire!
Personal Recommendations:
— Get the «Embassy Row Rundown» at some point on your tour. I can’t believe Adam could rememeber and rattle them all off as we cruised down Embassy Row
— If you’ve got a small group or family, DEFINITELY go with the SUV experience. While I didn’t do that one personally, my friends (with kids) did, and thought it was terrific
— Nothing beats the night tour! I went on this one three times! The memorials at night are fantastic.
— It’s not for everyone, but those interested in religion will get a LOT out of the Religious Heritage Tour.
