Have had a few of the dips here and also the Chicken Shwarma platter and sandwich. The shwarma is not the best I have had– I would venture to say Roti offers much more in the way of toppings, however the chicken was juicy and flavorful. There is usually only one woman working, so the wait can be long at lunch rush. The fava bean dip and hummus are both great and worth trying!

The fruit start wasn’t completely a fruit tart. The macaroons were good especially the vanilla flavor. Have to try their other selections.

They microwave the falafel balls. And then the bread was stale. Its a shame. The falafel itself is not a good one even given its microwaved nature. The sandwich was okay, but there is some pretty great falafel in DC and this is not it. This review is only for the Falafel.

Five stars for quality of the food. This is authentic mediterranean food. The service can take time as this is a small mom-and-pop type of business, but I’ve seen improvements recently. I order the chicken shawarma sandwich most of the time. Garlic lovers will be very happy with this. I loved the pickled veggies in the sandwich. I haven’t seen a microwave or foreman grill ever used on my food. The chicken seems to be taken out of a crock pot, which is fine with me… it’s nice and saucy and flavor-infused.

I love me some mediterranean food. If fact, I crave it on a regular basis. However, this was such a disappointment. I got the Chicken Shawerma sandwich. It just didn’t taste right — the sauce was off and a little gritty. Thinking about it still makes me sad. I wish I’d gone with another one of Union Market’s options.

For a small stand in Union Market, everything was A-OK. Initially, I ordered a beef shawarma but they ran out around 1 pm two Sundays ago so I agreed to a chicken shawarma. It turns out a few orders of shawarmas ahead of me were all chicken as well. As others have noted, it appears that the chicken is microwaved, and the shawarma itself is ok and not particularly huge for its price, but it partially filled me up, and I’m ok with that. They also sell treats like baklava but I found the prices too expensive for their sizes. They are smaller than bite size and priced at $ 1/each. Since this was my first time at Union Market, I can’t say I’d come back to DC Mediterranean Corner when there are other options I have yet to try.

This place was was horrendous. The chicken schwarma bowl was rice heated up in the microwave topped with chicken clumped and stuck together, also heated in the microwave. It was topped with a white sauce that tasted like sardines. I also it the beef schwarma sandwich. The pita was old and the meat was tough and chewy. The whole thing was also heated on the microwave. The sauce in it was gross too. This was the worst fast food experience I’ve had in DC. It wasn’t even fast. I was waiting for maybe 30 minutes.

Waited 30 minutes after ordering in crowded union market. Kitchen ran out of chicken. Bread was stale. Meat was microwaved. Cook kept touching her hair and then touching the food. When she called my number and didn’t see my right away she gave my sandwich away to someone else. Then told me it was my fault for not speaking up loud enough. On top of all that… Food was bad. Way too much garlic.

Cheap and neat! Love the location, friendly staff members and the food is just as good. Chicken Shawarma Sandwich($ 7). C Better than average Chicken Sharma Finger Food Platter($ 10). A This is what makes this place great. Choose $ 6 worth of finger food, mix and match between $ 1 and $ 2 items plus 2 sides. You end up saving about $ 4. A few highlights: Individual Baklava Bites. A Babagaouj. A And weird thing, I did not love their hummus. It tasted good, but not great. So yes, I will be venturing back here when I’m craving more Mediterranean.

OK, this is one of those place that I wish there is a half stars. I felt that 3 stars is too low, and 4 stars is too high. I had not tried everything there, I was having my morning coffee in the Union Market and wanted to have some croissant. Believe or not, you can find all kinds of bakery product but not croissants. Now there is a niche for someone to go in and sell some croissants. I walked by and thought I will have some spinach pies, I wanted some pastries, and I bought some crème pastries too. The lady who served me was a laugh and very nice, she turned my 3 stars into a 4 stars. The spinach pie was too salty, but the crème pies was great. Will go back and try something else. There are others mediterranean items on the menu Sharma, Falafel. .etc.

I went here on a Friday evening while attending a drive-in movie event at Union Market. It was really packed in the market overall and I was looking for something quick and fairly cheap. Overall, the chicken shawarma wrap I got was decent. Nothing to write home about and a bit too much garlic, but not horrible for the price. Unfortunately, like others have written, the service is pretty bad. I think the lady making the food was overwhelmed, but to take it out on the customers was pretty unprofessional. For that, I can’t recommend this place and I wouldn’t doubt they’ll go out of business if they continue down this bad customer servi

DC Mediterranean Corner, tucked away towards the end of Union Market, provided just the right amount of sweet temptation for me. The baklava is very reasonably priced for a huge serving(lots of different varieties) and — best surprise ever — the have HALVA(or halawah, depending on your Middle Eastern orientation) — both regular and chocolate flavored. Seriously, I have been searching for halva in DC for a long time. I can’t speak to the quality of the meats or other savory foods, but as far as Mediterranean sweets go, this is a home run.

Last night, my fiancé ordered a grape leaf to go with her falafel sandwich. You can order them in single servings, per the menu at their stall. The person at the counter said«you want just one?» My fiancé said yes. The person working the counter said«I’m not going to make just one; you’ll need to order more.» My fiancé decided not to order any grape leaves. We were both left thinking WTF? The food was fine — not great, not terrible.

The lamb gyro appeared to be made of lunch meat. It looked terrible and tasted fair. I guess i should have known that if I do not see a spick for meat, then it is not going to be real meat. The only thing that was good was the pita bread it was made in. Meanwhile the bread they serve the babaganoosh with is thin and dry; and the babaganoosh looks like hummus, but tastes like very tangy something. I can barely discern that there was eggplant in it. It also took a long time. Especially compared with Takoria. There were so few options at Union Market that I had selected this place. Bad move.

This food sucks, as does the service. I tried ordering a chicken shawarma but the kitchen wasn’t ready yet, despite the fact that I showed up an hour after the opening time. So instead I got the falafel plate which was bland, simple and uninspiring. The price is quite low but so is the quality. My coworker came here a week later and got a chicken shawarma which he said wasn’t good at all. They seem to have a wide variety of Middle Eastern desserts(baklava, turkish delight, etc) but I haven’t tried those. I have no interest in returning to find out.

Incredible experience!! I was already full when I came by, and the staff member was so helpful I couldn’t help but buy some food. I bought some boureks, babbaganoush, grape leaves and baklava, all of which were amazing. The staff working the stand was incredibly informative and clearly loved what they were doing. I can’t wait to go back, and I know next time it will be my first stop at union market!

Not bad. If I could write two reviews for different aspects I would… Food: They operate with a George Foreman, and microwave. I ordered a chicken shawarma(no clue how to spell it correctly) and it took a long time… The pita bread was fresh, but the chicken was a little dry, the sauce was a little too salty, and so were the pickled vegetables. The falafel and everything in the display is already made and just heated to order… So it’s not really fresh. Fresh out of the fryer is always best. Desserts: Amazing array of desserts, and staff was very knowledgeable and informative when asked questions. The traditional baklava was amazing, and I also got a Burma pistachio one doused in honey. Amazing Shop: They also have good looking hummus, baba ganoush, pita chips and fresh pita for purchase. I tried this yogurt drink which was pretty good. Overall: Definitely will stop back to try some more sweets and other goods, will not count on eating my meal here though.
