Very big fan. I had the maple, brown sugar doughnuts and it was very fluffy and all of the flavors were presented fantastically. While it was a little bit in the pricier side for an individual doughnut, when compared to Dunkin or Krispy Kreme, the uniqueness of the flavor options and the great execution of the actual doughnuts make it worth every penny.

I was so excited to write this review, I almost fell out of my chair! I actually tried District Doughnut for the first time this weekend and had it delivered through the Postmates app. It was super easy to order and the delivery arrived 20 minutes earlier than originally scheduled. . …But enough about that, let’s talk donuts(doughnuts?)! I ordered 4 donuts total and had no problem scarfing them all down with a partner. The«Snickerdoodle» was the easy favorite. It’s a cake donut with a spiced cake batter, snickerdoodle cookie crumbles, and a spiced glaze. I thought they got the texture just right, and it was that perfect mix of sweet but not-too-sweet. The«Brown Butter» was our plain-jane of the bunch but came in close at second place. The donut was light and fluffy with a dusting of cinnamon sugar and brown butter glaze. I was worried about the«Salted Dulce de Leche» being too sweet, but it wasn’t. Don’t get me wrong, it was definitely sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. The donut is filled with a caramel cream and covered(and I mean covered, almost drenched) in their dulce de leche ganache. If you’ve got a sugar tooth, this is definitely the donut for you! «Mocha Crunch» last but definitely not least. I was very happy with the ratio of flavors. It was a nice mix of espresso and chocolate. This donut was a little firmer than the others, but still soft and all too easy to eat. All in all, totally worth the delivery wait and the tip! And they have a rotating menu– I can’t wait to try all of the other flavors.

Yum! What a cute little shop located across from the military barracks. You can’t miss it– just follow the steady stream of patrons walking away with their boxes of donuts. The day I visited they offered six flavors, so of course I ordered one of each. They even went in the back and got me fresh, warm ones without asking! My favorite was the chocolate crème brûlée– crispy burnt sugar on the outside with a chocolate pudding filled center. Another highlight was the fluffernutter– creamy peanut butter icing with a toasty marshmallow cream center. All of the donuts were fluffy and light and not overly sweet. District Donut is definitely worth the calories! Another plus, they also offer cold brew coffee. FYI, they are closed on Mondays…

Pretty tasty donuts here. Small shop and they only have 8 or so flavors each day. The maple walnut one was good but a pretty basic donut, mostly tasted like cinnamon sugar with a little bit of texture from the nuts. The fluffernutter I can appreciate, not a donut I’ve seen anywhere else. Very messy, fluffy big donut stuffed with marshmallow fluff, topped with creamy peanut butter. Delicious

I have never been to the shop, someone game me the donuts. But I’m a fan. I have my favorite donut place in VA. Now I’m working my way around DC’s donut shops :-) tasting amazing donuts. I might be a donut addict, lol. I tried 6 donuts, do not judge me, lol! I must say they were all pretty tasty. The brown sugar donut left a little to be desired compared to the other donuts I had that day, but still very good. The donuts were all soft. The coating was perfect. The flavor was great, I could taste exactly what the donut was supposed to be. A little upset I had to share, lol, but my son, who is also a donut critic, lol, enjoyed them as well. We agree that District gives our VA shop a run for its money. We will definitely be back at district donut again.

I’ve had many a District Doughnut at Unilocal events, but I’d never been to their actual location. Nestled at the south end of Barracks Row, this place many be tiny, but the flavors are BIG. My husband and I visited after the breakfast rush, so there were only a few options left. They tried to make it easy on us and the few other customers that were there by putting one of each of the selections they had left right in front of us on the counter. But we were all called to the bakery window instead. I had their classic Brown Butter doughnut, while my hubby went ‘wild’ with the Mocha Coffee Crunch. Mine was gone in less than a minute. My husband was a bit slower scarfing his, but the endgame was the same. If youre ever in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in.

Come early, come hungry! I went there around 9am on a Saturday and barely had to wait in line, but by the time I left(roughly 10 minutes later) there were at least 5 people queued up. This place is tiny but has a very friendly vibe, which I guess helps when your customers inevitably struggle to choose between options like«fluffernutter» and«chocolate crème brûlée.» I went for the«salted dulce de leche» and the«cannoli» The dulce de leche had a generous, sticky layer of caramel-tasking icing on top, and a goldmine of gooey dulce de lece cream inside. Definitely not one to leave you wanting. As a native Bostonian, I think I had somewhat narrow expectations for the cannoli donut(Mike’s pastry all the way!). I would have liked the filling to be more creamy-ricotta style and actually found it to be a bit overly sweet and not as complex as the other donut. I was also ambivalent about the mini chocolate chips that were folded into the cannoli filling. However, this donut definitely packed a punch of multi-form sugar(thick powdered sugar on top, sweet fluffy donut base, and filling) which is what we all look for in a donut, isn’t it?

I could cry at the deliciousness of this establishment. This is the perfect little spot to grab some doughnuts and coffee. The shop is super cute and clean. and the employees are friendly… even at 8 in the morning. Better yet, the doughnuts are amazing. I believe they have differing doughnuts of the day. A few of the doughnuts offered today were a nutter butter, crème brûlée or bachlava doughnut. I ordered the bachlava doughnut and it was complete heaven. Sweet and fluffy and fresh. I highly recommend this place. The ice coffee is even great! If your ever in the neighborhood, this is the place to try for something sweet!

District Doughnut got sold to me as a place that sells out by mid afternoon. We pulled up to Eastern Market on a Friday late morning and were able to grab ourselves a pretty prime parking spot almost right in front. Walked into the shop which was small, cute, crisp white walls — glass display case. Clean. Minimalist. Don’t recall much seating if any inside; but its a donut shop so that’s fine. There are some patio tables and chairs outside. Friends and I shared three donuts from their spring menu(I’m guessing they switch it up seasonally): salted dulce de leche, mocha crunch, and a snickerdoodle. The snickerdoodle was a cake donut. The mocha crunch I think was too. Both were quite good but switching in between them you could hardly tell the difference. I think it was just the basic elements of it as in sweet, crunchy, cake-y. Or one might have simply overwhelmed the other. The salted dulce de leche was a yeast donut, large and fluffy. Quite good. If doughnuts are your jam and you’re in DC; District Doughnuts certainly fits the bill for your high end sweet treat.

They are just as good as I remember them from UnilocalChella. Ever since we tried District Doughnut at UnilocalChella last August 2015, we have been wanting to try it again. There have been multiple attempts to go since last August 2015 but their hours are usually not conducive to most work schedules during the week. One Sunday around 2pm we were literally out the door when we decided to check them out on twitter and found out they had run out for the day! So now, before we go, we check twitter! We finally made the trip out there this weekend! We arrived 10 minutes after opening. The store is small with few standing areas inside to eat your sweets and some tables outside as well. The young lady at the register was so sweet, polite, and courteous. I don’t remember the last time I said that about someone who looked under the age of 25(don’t get me started on my «Liz Lemon» style of complaining over the whipper snappers of today). I love the creativity of these doughnuts. The Baklava doughnut had pieces of pistachios and fillo dough on it. The Crème brûlée was torched right in front of me! I wish I had taken a video of that! The brown butter doughnut was also amazing. They are light, unique, and not too sweet. I am not a fan of the dulce de leche because it was one of the few ones I felt were too sweet but that is just me. I love that they update their twitter feed regularly. I don’t even have a twitter account but I can still find them and read their latest updates. The doughnuts we tried at Unilocalchella were smaller in size but apparently you can order those in advance as well. All in all, these are the BEST doughnuts in the District of Columbia. My best advice: Go at opening on the weekends. Parking is plentiful, the streets are empty, and you won’t have to worry about them running out. If not, be sure to check them out on twitter!

I loved this little donut place! The colors are bright and the space is very clean. It’s fun to be able to see the back area too where the donuts are being made. I almost always choose the plain glazed option when visiting a donut place for the first time and the glazed vanilla bean did not disappoint! Soft but deliciously dense at the same time. It was a sunny day so we sat outside for the four minutes it took to eat our yummy treats!

I have some sentimental feelings about District Doughnut. Been here several times since they opened, but without a doubt the most memorable visit is when my family came the morning my second daughter was born, just a few hours before all hell broke loose and I had to have an emergency C-section(but that is another story for another time!!!) The doughnuts are original(pumpkin meringue?! Cannoli?! Peanut butter crème brûlée?!) and decadent and delicious. I’m a go-big-or-go-home kind of sweets gal, so you know I’m ALL about the salted dulce de leche doughnut(I mean, it’s pretty much a heart attack on a plate, but TRYIT!). On my latest visit last weekend I tried the salted dark chocolate, which SOUNDED amazing, but was just kind of meh. Other than that one, though, everything I’ve tried has been great. And yes, I’ve tried quite a few. For something extra special, you can get your doughnut bruleed on the spot! And they have a couple that are made to order, so you really can’t get anything fresher(my husband likes his doughnuts plain and simple, and he proclaimed his fresh cinnamon sugar doughnut to be the best ever). The lines can be ridiculous on the weekend, and there are just a few barstool seats at the window, but let’s be honest — your doughnuts won’t be sitting around long enough for you to actually sit down and eat them. They just scream GETINMYBELLYYYYYY. And you must obey.

I like District Doughnuts and I cannot lie, you other donuts can’t deny… This place is the BEST. I have only been to this location once but it has already won me over to be one of my favorite food places in DC. Loves: + every donut is delicious and warm. EVERY. + My faves: salted dulce de leche(regular) and pumpkin meringue(rotational) + Cute space with reclaimed wood, white molding, and the prettiest blue you ever did see. + Kind staff(we got to meet one of the co-founders Greg!) I had high hopes coming here but District Doughnut checked every box and then some. If you are a donut lover, possess a sweet tooth, or love magnificent gifts from the donut Gods… this is your HEAVEN.

Sigh… I was severely disappointed by district doughnuts. I had them at a Unilocal event and fell madly in love. The doughnuts were perfect and the glaze was done nicely. Fast forward, almost 9 months later, I find myself down the street from the shop. I make a mental note and decide to come back. The store front itself is pretty small but I wasn’t expecting much and it’s still cute. We got some chocolate strawberry specialty doughnuts and milk chocolate glaze. Both flavors were DRY and stale? The first bite of my chocolate strawberry doughnut was air. Then the second bite was air, then I look into the doughnut and realized more than HALF was a huge air pocket. I BASICALLYJUSTGOTTHEGLAZEONTHATHALF. Not cool. NOTATALL! I am so glad we did NOT splurge and get a dozen like I originally wanted. Two donuts costs ~$ 7 with tax/tip. No. Just no. Unfortunately, I’ve had way better, for cheaper and closer to home.

I just cannot express how much I love District Doughnut, and everyone I’ve met who works there. All doughnuts are not created equal, and District hand-crafts theirs to be delicious and different(without sacrificing flavor to be unique) and their people just love doughnuts. My mom always told me: find something you love to do, then figure out how to get someone to pay you to do it. It seems like the people at District Doughnut have done just that, and their love of the dough really shows. If you have any kind of pyro tendancies, get the dulce de leche and watch them flame it.

***falls to knees*** yyeeesss lawd I’ve following District Dounut on Instagram for a minute now. Ive just been waiting for the right moment to go. We live closer yo Bmore. But we frequent DC. We were enjoying District Taco and a light bulb went off. And boy oh boy am I glad it did. It was a beautiful day in December it was 72 degrees, so we walked from DT to DD. We barely made it in time, they close at 5 on Sundays. I ordered the Dulce De Leche, my hubby and his cousin both ordered Vanilla Bean Glazed. As we left I had the bag, at first I had the bag by the top. But it was awkward to hold so switched to holding the bag in the palm of my hand. Then… I discovered the donuts were(dun dun dun) warm. The frigging donuts were warm! At that very moment even though I was still full from DT, I made the decision to eat my Dulce De Leche. In 4.5 bites my life was forever changed. I instantly asked what time it was. I wanted to get another one. But, alas it was 5:00 on the dot. No time to run back 5 blocks in my wedge booties for another one. ** single tear** This dounut had ooey gooey sticky caramel sauce topped with a bit of salt. The dounut itself, was yeasty sweet & warm… Perfecto. But the pastry cream on the inside… Yyyyyaaaasss! Get this dounut it’s life changing, matter of fact get 2 and don’t share.

After the Unilocal event with district donut and commonwealth Joe, I knew I needed to visit the brick and mortar. I like that it’s so tiny. There’s only seating for 4 at a counter top. A doughnut should be shared and district donut encourages that. Eat the brown sugar donut. Eat it. Savor it. Devour it. Munch on it. Chew on it. Chow down on it. Nibble it. Destroy it. Consume it however you choose, but make sure that is at least one of your choices. It’s so freakin delicious. I’ll have to come back every week bc they change some of their donuts. Right now they have a sweet potato pie donut! I foresee my waistline not being very happy with me.

I really have nothing but love for District Doughnut. I’ve had them several times at several Unilocal events but only recently made it to their store front.(insert womp womp noise here). They are an awesome local chain that makes some fantastic donuts. Everyone from District Doughnut is friendly and service is always good. Their store is located in barracks row, right by Eastern Market, which is a great spot in DC in my opinion. I love all of the doughnuts I’ve tried so far but my absolute favorite is their brown butter. It’s just so perfect, melt in your mouth delicious. On this day, we decided to expand our horizons and choose different flavors. We picked the blueberry almond, the apple crumble, and pumpkin brulee(seasonal flavor). All three doughnuts were delicious. The apple crumble probably my favorite out of the three(I have a soft spot for crumbles). I highly recommend District Doughnuts. Doesn’t matter what time(they’re open until the afternoon on Sundays too which is awesome),
