I’ve been here a couple of times for Hitomi’s Japanese curry! Hitomi(yes there really is one) makes and serves the curry herself out of a corner of the shop. The curry is a Japanese style, so it is thick and sweet, served over white rice with pickles and fresh cabbage on the side. She’ll adjust the hotness according to your taste, on a scale from 1 – 5. You can get it with beef, breaded chicken, or vegetables. It’s a great lunchtime treat and a real taste of Japan!

I can only give this place 4 stars, well, because I have only had two sandwiches here, so I can’t be responsible for some of the other hundreds of choices they have here. I love club sandwiches, and as of right now, this place has the best one in the area. Its called the club mex. I typically order it with roast beef and turkey(instead of the standard ham and turkey) on white bread. This is a huge sandwich, and could easily be made into two meals. They give you plenty of boars head meats, so you don’t feel slighted in the least. They have daily specials, which gives you a bag of chips and a canned soda for a very fair under $ 7(pre-tax) price. I highly recommend this spot if you want a sandwich, and whenever I have a hankering, I am definitely on my way to Fresh Meal. ****Update***** My edit was changing this from a 4 star to 1 star. I don’t know what happened, but it seems as if management or something has changed. This is no longer the home of my favorite club sandwich. They don’t even offer boars head meat anymore. The chip selection has dwindled, and the pret portion has become sodas and drinks. This is a major disappointment…

My ham and smoked gouda sandwich was quite tasty. They serve freshly sliced Boar’s Head sandwiches, along with the general variety of chips and beverages. The menu was quite extensive, the service was friendly and my wait wasn’t very long considering that I visited during the lunch rush. I spent a little more than I would have liked, though, for a run-of-the-mill deli sandwich. Still, I’d probably stop back in to explore other sandwich options.

A delicious sandwich + 2 oz bag of specialty chips + can of soda for $ 6.49! The people who work here are really nice and flexible. 4 stars for Fresh Meal!

I work directly across the street and go a few times a week. It is a reliable yet average sandwich place. The bread and other ingredients are always fresh. Daily specials are a bargain compared to buying things separately. There is a steady stream at lunch but it’s hardly ever crowded. Tall tables are available for eating in, although I have never actually eaten in the store. The cooler has sandwiches and salads prepped to go. I avoid these — tried it once and they as weren’t fresh. I miss the place that previously occupied this storefront — Picnic. Now THAT was a totally yummy sandwich place. My nostalgia for Picnic is probably what has me giving Fresh Meal three stars instead of four.

Wow, what a perfectly generic sandwich. I don’t think I’ve ever referred to a sandwich as average before. Mediocre, so-so, outtasite*, totally bitchin’, hit the spot, felt better going out than going in… those are all descriptors I’ve used. But not generic. I was too lazy to pack my lunch last night, and even more too-lazy to get up early and make it today, so I ended up going out to grab something. Now, if you work in the Golden Triangle, you don’t go to lunch. That implies actual choices. No, in the Golden Triangle, you end up at lunch. Walking around like that ancient Greek dude with a lantern looking for one honest man, you’re wandering around aimlessly looking for one honest lunch. With the line at Potbelly already at the door at 11:45, I decided to double back and check out a new sandwich shop I noticed just the other day. A glance at the sign on the window made mention of an Italian hero, so I figured my search ended here. They seem to have about 20 or so sandwiches on offer, along with salads and other things. Nothing really stood out. My sandwich was made quickly, and I was on my way. In the sandwich’s defense, it was filling. And that’s really all I can say. Even with banana peppers and seasonings, it was very bland. It wasn’t until I started to write this review that it dawned on me what it tasted like: a pre-made sandwich at Giant. The verdict: Unless you work above Fresh Meal and it’s raining out, I really can’t recommend it. It’s not bad… it just doesn’t satisfy. *Actually, I never used this one, but if I could go back to 1976, I’d totally be all over that word!
