This place was a let down. Or maybe I need to be the kind of person who doesn’t like nice things and then I’d be impressed by this place. i am confused.
from the website it looked nice and I assumed spacious but in reality it is a cramped hole in the wall. not sure why they charge a cover because there wasn’t much to this place, even though I heard there was an upstairs space. the bar stool i was sitting on felt like it was going to fall apart even though I am a petite woman. maybe i am petty…
the crowd was kinda rough. or maybe i am just a bougesie person despite the fact that I am from Chicago. it’s possible… but chicago has a TON of nice lounges and restaurants so…
the first band that performed last night – an all girl band – was good. They just performed covers but they were talented. then i guess the band everyone was waiting for (it started to get really packed) came on and I became confused. they sucked. i am still confused…
chicken wings were ok. i’ll make better ones when i get back home…
maybe i won’t be so confused after I eat my own wings on my own bar stool in my own place listening to good music…

Waited quite a while for drinks AND my card was overcharged! Doubt I’ll ever return.

This place is ok. Drinks are pretty good, food is not bad, service is acceptable. Not a bad place to watch the game either. Their DJs are also pretty good. I’m just not a big fan of the crowd. They tend to be of the young and/​or hoodrat variety. If you come for live music, arrive early and get a seat up front because this place gets crowded and some people have NO respect for personal space. (and it exponentially increases your chances being bumped, pushed or otherwise unpleasantly touched by a clumsy hoodrat with no home training or manners that will give you the side eye as if it’s your fault that he’s uncoordinated). Make sure you place your orders before the crowd gets too thick and before the servers get overwhelmed. Otherwise, you may never get a chance to.

Wow great happy hour 4 $ gray goose live bands and fun people! No food while we were there but am told they usually have it!

Sooooo my bestie and I, along with our men and other friends, went here for her weekend birthday celebration tonight. The three stars are for the amazing live jazz band that played, NOT for the restaurant or the customer service. We thoroughly enjoyed the live band, however it took forever, literally foreverrrrr, for the food to come out.
Some of us didn’t even get asked what we wanted. One of us didn’t even receive the food that she ordered and ended up canceling it 40minutes later because she wasn’t hungry anymore! My boyfriend ordered a drink and they didn’t bring it so we had to walk up to the bar and reorder it! Wow! And then on top of that after the people that actually received their food paid, we went upstairs to dance and the waitress came upstairs and asked the birthday girl why she didn’t tip the required gratuity! Perhaps because you didn’t actually do anything! No waters were brought to our table, the food was super late if it even came at all. So all in all it was a hot mess, besides the great live music! That is their saving grace.

I love this place. The food is great and theh have live entertainment often throughout the week that is great my only issue is the size. Once it reaches capacity it is hard to enjoy a live show from the back of the room because so many people are standing in front of you. However, on U st. Thia ia amongst the most active and highly populated spots that you will find… even on a sunday night!

It’s a great place live music outdoor seeting and live music you can’t beat it! And the drinks are good!

IIndulj is the place to be Saturday nights for RnB music fans. I love the band playing here: The Fix. To be honest, they are the main reason I come back to this place so much! The drinks are ok, the services isn’t that good (6 out of 10 because there was one server for 30+ people) and if you dont have a reservation you will be standing at the bar because this place fills up fast.
The best part of Indulj besides the music? the wings– AMAZING.
So, if you want a chill night out with girlfriends, guy friends, or even just want to hear an amazing cover band singing your favorite Hip Hop and RnB, make a reservation because Indulj is your place to be… here’s a sample of this awesome band:

Indulj is a good spot or at least i found it a chill place to just hang out listen to music and probably get a bite. I liked it and will pop in, if i am in and around the U-​Street corridor.

So against my better judgement I went back –_​– Why? It was my friends birthday and she rrreallly wanted to go to Indulj so I indulged her (haha shameless pun) and I went.
I found street parking almost instantaneously which is why I gave it an extra star lol Naw let me stop. I gave it an extra star because of the music.
Oh my gooooooooosh the music was AMAZING!!! They had a cover band playing go go, covering R&B Tracks and the latest hip-​hop songs. THATS why I gave it an extra star.
But now its time for the drama.
So we were sat immediately in a booth, the same booth as last time coincidently and in the middle of our experience we were moved to the window seat with no view of the band –_​– Still Ghetto. (sorry if Im being non-​PC)
Then I went upstairs for the first time ever and maybe it was LGBT night cause there were all females upstairs dancing. Dont get me wrong I can drop it like its hot with anybody around but I was expecting a lil more testosterone.
mmm Im not coming back only if Tank or Tyrese drags me by the hair *ooh kinky* then Ill go.

One hour wait at Ben’s Next Door, so we put our names on the list and went over to Indulj for a drink and light apps.
I hate using public restrooms but I really had to go. Ladies’ room — cockroaches on toilet seat. I decided to try the men’s room and there were Cockroaches in sink! Ran back to the bar, informed the bartender, cancelled our orders and headed back across the street.
The bartender seemed mildly concerned… he didn’t flinch, but he did mention it to someone. I will never ever ever eat at or visit this place again.

If you’re a guy, don’t come here. The whole BS bodyguard/​security outside was red flag number one. The best thing about this place is the music. Every thing else makes me long for the days when businesses actually catered to their customers and cared about presenting a quality product.
Thank Baby Jesus I had a Groupon for this place because the food was terrible. Let me be honest, I would have rather completed a Fear Factor eating challenge than eat this sorry excuse called consumption engineering (Get ‘emmmmm!!!). I got ‘emmm.
The space downstairs is tiny and quite suffocating. I had to constantly dodge the rear end of a man the size of an NFL lineman that was attacking the back of my head. The only thing that kept me here longer than 15 minutes was the fact that I got on the guest list, which meant no cover charge, and the live music was great. There are plenty of other places in this city to enjoy live music. Please seek them out.

Such a waste! Don’t come here !!
I’ve tried this place on multiple occasions, in which I continue to be disappointed…
never a fan of the crowd… the drinks, the food or the service…
the fact that they charge a cover is even worse… especially when there are countless other places on U street that are 10x better and free…
The sound system is pretty bad here… — there are so many better choices to indulge in rather than Indulj… YIKES…

There’s not a single thing I do not like about this way. It is hip, trendy, with a good urban vibe to it. I came here for a date the other night which I really enjoyed having while we sat at the bar listening to some live jazz music. The décor of the place is very vibrant yet intimate with the dim lights. It isn’t a huge space downstairs, but holds enough people just to provide a good sense of community.
The bartenders were extremely nice and it was awesome that we could escape with having as many drinks as we did and under $ 100 with him consuming ¾ of them as I nursed my 3 over the long amount of time we were there.
I definitely would come back again and I’m looking forward to it.

Who doesn’t get hyped off of a band playing live music… besides me of course! I went to Indulj during my bar crawl through U street this past Saturday as part of my birthday celebration. It was $ 10 to get in and that was the best $ 10 I’ve spent.
Besides wearing these cute wedges and having to walk up the stairs to get to the second floor, I maintained and smiled when I heard my favorite songs in rotation. I mean from the throwback hip hop, reggae, black family reunion music, to wobble, but what really had me hyped was the GO-​GO that was played! That’s a rare commodity. you don’t find that often. In the mist of me being on cloud 9 because the DJ was definitely going in. I looked around to notice the type of crowd and I was hoping I didn’t see my Aunty or Uncle up in there. haha! It’s definitely a 30+ scene and nothing is wrong with that they know how to party… well some of them were sitting down but STILL they were getting down. The bar was moving kind of slow, there were a lot of people waiting for drinks. But, the 4 stars is strictly for the MUSIC and SCENE.
None the less, definitely hit up this spot. you won’t regret it. Unless you order a drink… I can’t vouch for that. you on your own haha.

NEVER going back! From the service to the food, this place was awful.
I heard several people say the HH was good here so my best friend and I decided to try it. The first day we went to try they were closed. There was no sign, it wasn’t listed on the website or anything. I called the next day and the manager told me they were closed, but did not give a reason.
We decided to try again the next week. I called first this time. When she and I got to Indulj, we waited at the «hostess desk» to be helped. We stood there for about 10 minutes while waitresses and hostesses walked past us. Finally a young lady came up and said you could have seated yourself a long time ago. Umm, excuse me but that’s not normally how it works. Secondly, why didn’t you say that a long time ago.
Anywho, we sat down and then waited 10 minutes for any waitress to acknowledge us. She came up and asked what did we want to order to drink. I told her we did not have menus. She then made a face and said oh, I thought you might just have a drink in mind. I just gave her a look. I really should have gotten up and left. She came back with menus and walked away. She did not return to our table for 20 minutes. We kept trying to flag her down but I feel like she was blatantly ignoring us.
After we ordered, it took about 30 minutes to get our food and drinks (which came together). All we ordered was jack & cokes, spring rolls and wings for the HH portion. We ordered pasta for the meal, but that was after we ordered drinks. Mind you, it all came out together. The drinks were okay. The spring rolls were not cooked all the way through. The wings were basic. The alfredo sauce on the pasta was watery and bland. We asked for a manager and the waitress said he wasn’t there. What type of establishment doesn’t have a manager on site?
I really did not want to pay the bill, but I paid anyways and vowed never to go back. This was the worse service I ever received!

Another day, another Jameson.
I had never been in here as much as I have cruised and trolled this area so my girl and I decided to stop in. Umm, it was fine. Nothing wrong with it.
At moments there was really good music but the DJ kept turning it down which seems like the opposite of what a DJ is supposed to do but I’m not a DJ so what do I know?
We stayed downstairs and only stayed for one drink.

This place is located in my second home… U Street. It is incredibly small and cramped and the table layout downstairs could definitely use some improvement. One of my absolute favorite bands, Black Alley used to play here. As of July, they are no longer playing regularly at this venue. And I haven’t been back since.
The music upstairs is OK. I like a mix of ol’ school and new school but the DJs just stick to one type all night. I usually end up just sitting outside or braving the cramped quarters downstairs.
The bouncers and bartenders always took care of me because they knew me. But other than that, there is not compelling me to visit Indulj again.

I was under the impression I wrote my review for this place weeks ago! It just popped up on the left side of the screen asking if I wanted to write a review and I felt so bad that I have neglected to tell you all how I feel about this little spot!
Indulj is lovely! I came in here on a Saturday evening around 7:30ish, because us lovely ladies were in the mood for some happy hour chill time and of course some good eats. My friend was RAVING about this catfish nuggest and as a pescetarian you know I’m ALL about my nuggest shapped fishies!
Anyways, we walked in. On the main floor, it was pretty crowded. The space down there is tight and there was a live band. A lot of people in a small dimly light area. I walked in and it was like all eyes on me. following me as I searched for a spot to plant my behind. After realizing that downstairs was NOT the scene I was ready for at that point in the night, I scurried over to the staircase and headed up top hoping to find something more mellow.
And find it I did! Upstairs is very spacious, complete with couches and very limited seating at the bar area. There were about 4 chairs there. Couches and seating to the left and to the right. We stood by the bar and we’re greated by the bar tenders. They were nice. Not overly. but nice enough. Helped us with drink selections and opened up a tab for each one of us.
I ordered a Georgia Peach (some peach alcoholic something), 2 orders of catfish nuggets, mushrooms stuffed with creamcheese and salmon, pomegrante martini, and I ALSO tasted the salmon skewers. (Yeah, MAD food. Call me a fatty but it was all so delicious!)
They didn’t even mind bringing me hot sauce because you KNOW I love me some hot sauce. And it was the good hot sauce too. little bit of buffalo in it. Deliciousness.
The only thing a tad misleading is the menu says «happy hour all night» …but the bar tender warned us we had 10 minutes to order if we still wanted happy hour prices. The prices go up, but so does the portion. So it isn’t so bad. And when I cam back and ordered AFTER happy hour was over she still only charged me for happy hour. That was sweet of her.
The music was nice but we got out of there before the reall party started so I can’t comment on what goes down later.
The drinks are strong and resonably priced. The food is delcious and also not expensive at all.
Indulj is def a go to spot if you’re looking for drinks, a calm atmospher (during the evening), and some yummy food.
