Really good Persian kebab/chicken and the Friday bean, veggie and lamb stew is to die for! Very affordable and great service! I would have given it a 5 if it wasn’t for their Styrofoam take out containers(made with dangerous polystyrene) — sadly all to many restaurants use these toxic containers. Amina Semlali

This might have been my best meal in DC or a close second. Fantastic food! It reminded me a great deal of one of my favorite spots in Houston, Kasra, and the excellent Persian food they served. The kebab my husband and I split was delicious, very well seasoned, and perfectly cooked. Sometimes the meat can be overcooked and rather dry, but not in this case. The rice was fluffy and the roasted tomatoes had just enough char on them. Then there’s the price point which is low for Georgetown. My Arab husband loved this place and had we more time on our vacation, we would have returned time and time again.

Moby Dick is one of the few authentic Persian restaurants in the district. I have enjoyed it on several occasions, and on this occasion I got the daily special which was Gormeh Sabzi, a green herb stew. It was only $ 8.99, but wasn’t appetizing to my western taste. I am thankful this place can allow me to try new foods at a low price point to mitigate risk.

The food here was a great Persian food. I ordered combo koobideh + lamb. The food quality was good. But the setting and the style was not very Persian. So I would say if you want a very good quality Persian food come here but do not expect a Persian style setting and atmosphere. Maybe the best option is to take out the food to have with family.

The food is really good, it has good flavor and the prices are good. It’s very cheap for the big platter. The place is clean and the waiting time depend of what you order but moderate around 10 min or less.

Small place but the flavors are spot on. The meats are marinated and cooked right, flavorful and tender. The basmati rice is really good with a touch of saffron rice on top. The traditional bread and cucumber sauce are really good. The side salad was nothing special, but the sauce they have on the table would make a tire tread taste good. Weird name but good food :)

Tried this place out at my girlfriend’s request. The kabobs were very good — lots of flavor. The rice wasn’t dry, which is my usual issue with ‘fast food’ rice. This was done really well. The building is a little small, and it took a bit for us to get our food. And I wasn’t a big fan of the yogurt. But for someone like me, who is pretty picky, this wasn’t a bad first experience with Persian food. I’d try it again.

Very busy place but the food is amazing. We had to wait about 20 minutes for our food, but it decently worth it.

Fast, cheap good quality takeout. We tried the ground beef kebabs and the grilled chicken kebabs. The ground beef had more spices. Both came with delicious dipping sauces. Wish the rice was not as dry though.

In terms of take out this place is extremely solid. Relatively healthy as well if you don’t overindulge in the rice and bread. Huge fan of both the steak and the chicken kabobs. My godparents literally ONLY get takeout from Moby Dicks so I’ve eaten a bunch. I will say I’ve never been inside though, I’ve only ever driven the get away car.

This place is very consistent with their kebobs and such. I usually buy the beef and chicken super combo, which feeds two. This time, we decided to go here for a late night snack. It hit the spot. For proven food in Georgetown, Moby Dick is a winner and I’d choose this than Muncheez.

Always thought of the Moby Dick chain restaurants as 2nd tier Persian food. After moving to Georgetown I began eating here quite often. I have to tell you the food is just on point every time. The consistency and efficiency of this location is just impeccable. The manager of this location should give training to the other locations. BTW… try everything.

If this place had ten stars it would deserve every one of them. Moby Dick used to be a little hole in the wall; now it has evolved into a big hole in the wall– but, rest assured: it is a hole in one, the holy of Holies, and when you eat here you may very well scream out«Holy Cow!!»

I’ve been excited to eat here since I heard endless good things about it, but our experience just didn’t live up. The cashier was quite rude and intimidating. Then only half our food was delivered, and when my husband went to check on the other plate of food, the cashier practically yelled at him. When we got it, it was burnt. Not a little over cooked, but much chicken was actually black. The food that wasn’t burnt was ok. Not bad, but not amazing, as I’ve heard so many people rave about. I feel like we may have had an atypical experience, but the cashier was just so unpleasant that we haven’t had the desire to give it a second chance.

I was referred to this place by a Persian friend who really knows what a real kabob should taste like :) I’m very picky, and this place did not look too promising from outside, but I went in and never regretted it. It’s absolutely delicious. The rice is always cooked perfectly right. My favorite Kibudeh(ground beef) kabob is always juicy and fresh. The cucumber sauce is fantastic. I usually pick up the order and take it out, as the place is always crowded and I wouldn’t call it particularly cozy. So consider it a good takeout location. I’ve brought quite a few friends here already, and all of them expressed unanimous appreciation for this place. Not a single person was disappointed. Recently we made a catering order(although we ordered from the Moby Dick on Connecticut avenue as that one was closer, but they are equally excellent). They have a platter for just $ 99 that feeds about ten people. A large kombo of different meat, lots of rice, lots of sauce, and bread, and even dessert. Fantastic. The staff are always very swift and very friendly too. Thumbs up, I’m coming back.

chicken kabob is phenomenal — rice is good, hummus is creamy, the white sauce and spicy green sauce are great! Highly recommend it! I eat here once every 2 weeks :)

I had ground meat gyro at Moby’s and was quite disappointed. Even thought the mix of other ingredients like greek cheese, and lettuce was quite interesting, the quality of meat was not great, and so overall it didn’t taste good. The sandwich was quite cold, maybe it’s the way it should be, but for me was not very pleasant.

I have been eating here for over 15 years I think when they started great food The chicken kebab platter is my favorite food there good food great price When I started eating there is was $ 6 bucks Now I think is 8 – 9 bucks still great price Every day they have specials Thursday I think is a spinach and beef very good but if you don’t order it by 2 o’clock they run out fast I don’t give it 5 stars because although they made it bigger Still too small to bring in more then one or 2 friends

One of the best Kabobs ever! We had the Moby’s Joojeh kabob which is marinated chicken breast in their HOUSE spices and it was way above expectations! Then we had their spicy ground chicken kabob, it is the best kabob too! From now MOBYDICK’s one of my spots to visit whenever I visit DC!

I usually frequent ones in silverspring or va, and it was my first time trying the gtown one. SURROUNDING: It’s off of M st in georgetown– you can go shopping or walk around georgetown waterfront park after. This is a busy, st parking area. SERVICE: They told me the food would take 10 min. It was nice to know my food was cooked on order and to have a wait time window. They also give you free naan with yogurt/cucumber sauce to start so the wait wasn’t a big deal. FOOD: We tried kabob kubideh(ground beef) and kabob joojeh(chicken) platters. You get a choice of rice or ½ rice and salad. The chicken was juicy and flavorful with a bit of blackened taste to it. The beef was very flavorful and tangy. Kubideh comes with 2 rows of meat, one for joojeh. PRICE: ~$ 10 – 14 BOTTOMLINE: It’s a chain, but they have good kabobs. You will definitely get the bang for your buck.

Great kebab place. I love the food, and the service is reasonably fast. The place could do with some more seating, but couldn’t every DC restaurant? If you’re looking for some decent and cheap kabob, hit this place up!

No, no, no, I don’t understand how this place has so many stars! I’ve been meaning to come here since I’ve moved across the street and heard such good things. However, I’m so disappointed… The food was not great and it was extremely bland! I love a good gyro, really do. But this was just not a tasty spiced sandwich with feta and warm pita like I had been promised. Man! I’m so disappointed. I also ordered the yogurt appetizer and it wasn’t worth it. The whole meal was cheap. Just know, you are getting what you pay for. Also, it was absolutely freezing in there. We didn’t take our coats off because it was so frigid. Not impressed and will not be back even with my home being so close. :/nope…

Moby is consistently amazing kubideh and perfect moist and flavorful rice! I was sad that this location has raised it’s prices, charging extra for rice($ 1.50) and only giving half a circle of bread, but it was still delish! Get the combo II with rice and call it a day people. It’s perfection. With tax it’ll run you $ 13 but it can actually feed 2 people for a not-so-heavy lunch! ‼COMBOII‼

This was the first Moby Dick I’d been to, so despite the chain popping up all over the area, this one is the dearest to me. It used to be a tiny space until they renovated and added a much larger seating area. It’s great for quick, good food. The portions are a great size, and it’s relatively healthier than fast food options. I love the chicken kabob and falafels. You can call your orders in ahead of time, which is highly convenient.

I truly love the food at all moby dick’s, they know how to do kabob right. The Georgetown location is the original spot, and bc of that it looks a bit older and run down. They have done some recent renovations, but it still lacks the newer cleaner feel of the more recent moby dick branches. I always get my food to go bc of this. If ur a novice, go with the combo II, it comes with one skewer of kubideh(ground beef) and one skewer of joojeh(marinated boneless chicken Breast. You have the option of rice, salad, or half and half. Add a side of cooked tomatoes and you got urself a grade A meal. The meat is always so moist and flavorful. Bread is baked fresh, and half piece comes with each order, with a small side of yogurt/cucumber. Delicious! A specialty beverage they have is Dough. It is a carbonated yogurt drink, that is the drink of choice for this meal. At first it may take some time getting used to, but in the end, it really hits the spot. Considering the location, parking is always an issue. The staff is wonderful, and patient for first time patrons. You can never go wrong with Moby Dick kabob, find ur closest location and do it up!

The food here is average and nothing special. The appeal of this place is that its quick, cheap and open late. I had the joojeh(chicken) sandwich which was good and only cost $ 7. The chicken had some flavor to it but was not nearly as good as some of the other kabob I’ve tried recently. Easily the best part of the sandwich was the yogurt sauce, which I recommend just drenching your sandwich in because its quite good. My large complaint though was the bread. It was chewy, bland and detracted from the taste of the meat and vegetables inside. It acted purely as a placeholder rather than actually contributing to the dish. Plus, when I ordered my sandwich, I specifically asked for no feta cheese. No note of it was made on the receipt and of course, when I got home, I found plenty of feta cheese in it. Next time you go, if you need to make an alteration to a dish, make sure you emphasize it a few times otherwise it probably won’t get done!
