This bar exceeded my expectations. We came in for a quick lunch at the bar in a Sat afternoon. The service was excellent and the food came out fast and hot. The waffle fries and onion rings are delicious and the portions are the largest I’ve seen at any bar. The atmosphere is a dark(intimate) sports bar with skee ball! The draft beer selection is vast & the restrooms are immaculate with several stalls for the ladies. Very happy with this place.

Place is closed, moose out front told me. Wish they would have updated their website before I planned a great night of sports around them.

Idky people are saying this placed is closed. I come here all the time. 2 days ago, someone posted a review to please reopen this spot. I’ve never seen or heard of this, til I checked in on Unilocal.Weird. I don’t come here for the food, honestly this place doesn’t even look like a place to eat. It’s hidden at the entrance of a parking lot, under a staircase. I only come for the drinks during games, or before a movie, since the theater is across the street. I don’t have a problem with this place, but it could use some improvement.

PLEASE reopen. The true ‘neighborhood’ bar with true ‘neighborhood’ happy hour prices. $ 3 beers… $ 4 beers… $ 5 wings… and the $ 5 sushi was a pleasant surprise!!! We started hitting this place up hard during world cup. It was our go-to spot for nearly anything sports or a later in the night stop for cheap beer and bar food.(In a neighborhood full of $ 11 cocktails and $ 8 beers it was a bright spot for a no frills gameday experience.) Our waitresses were always on point, friendly, and helpful. Cesar at the bar was also super friendly. GREAT beer list.

Came here for the first time this evening. We showed up just before happy hour ended and got a few beers and the Fried Mac & Cheese, the Spinach Artichoke and Crab dip and the wings with BBQ Sauce, each for $ 5. I found the fried mac and cheese bites to be a little on the bland side. They come with a sriracha aioli, but, they still needed some kind of Chef’s Salt. The crab dip was good, ample amount of chips to go with it. The BBQ sauce was a little too sweet, I prefer it to be on the tangy side. The beers were good though! We also played trivia(that’s actually why we came) and that was pretty great. It was hosted by someone from«Trivia Kings», and I guess they do a lot of trivia in the area. I wouldn’t be opposed to trying a few more entrée-type items here, but, it does weird me out a little bit that they serve burgers AND sushi. Our server was really great though. Funny guy, helped us with some of our trivia questions. Kudos to him!

First off, the service stinks. Really. Like taking a dump in the Anacostia, stinks. Oscar the bartender is one of the truly gifted jackasses on the planet. No one else can consistently and completely alienate well tipping, volume drinking, local customers three times in a row! That takes some skill. After the third time, my comrades and I decided enough is enough and carried ourselves down to Clyde’s. While commiserating with the attentive bartender and barhop, we were shocked to find out that Oscar’s jackassery was well known to them and was the reason they never frequent the place. But please don’t let it seem like World Class, Jackass is the only reason I’m giving this place one star. The owner is a shady drunk, the other wait staff walks about oblivious to basic needs and the bar food is hit or miss. Its a shame though; Nancy, Alex, and Ann are great bartenders who focus on the customers and make great drinks.

I went to ODB once before. It was empty, ate a ton of sushi and felt meh about it. So when my School Alumni Association announced they were holding our sports game viewing party there I grumbled. Seriously? They could not pick another place? Instead I slapped on a smile and made the best of it in the name of being a jolly old supporting alum and give ODB another try. After I arrived, it was pretty empty but I was directed to the back room where the event was being held and I was surprised by the great turn out. I didn’t realize how large ODB was and how humid, smelly, cramped and blah the room our group was in. Friends ordered some sushi and crab dip which I politely declined after the rancid fish smell permeating from the dishes. I stuck to beer because their menu is all over the place: sushi, pizza, fried bar food, quesadillas, dips, etc. It was after HH and aside from the specials on crappy beer, ODB’s beer selection is not bad. The service, however, was horrendous. I went to the bar, ordered a beer, and the bartender said she would have to send the order to another bar where the tap was located. Ok no problem. 15 minutes later without beer and Houston, we have a problem. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one as others around me were voicing the same complaints. It’s a great thing for a bar to be at capacity but it’s not such a great thing to be understaffed or ill-equipped to handle the volume so that was a bit frustrating. Drink my beers, watch the game, leave and hope there aren’t any future events hosted here. Meh! Is the PERFECT sentiment I have for ODB.

Old Dominion has a cool happy hour, with decent drink prices and a menu including sushi in addition to your regular bar food and a wide variety of beers on tap(and beer towers!). I visited on a Friday around 5 and it was fairly empty when we arrived, though it was definitely starting to fill up by the time we left a couple of hours later. I tried the buffalo wings, nachos, and a couple of rolls. The wings and nachos were alright, and the fish in the rolls was pretty fresh. Unfortunately, Old Dominion’s great prices and fairly good food were offset by the terrible service. Our waitress went missing for long stretches of time, food took forever to come out, and we had to ask 3 times to get more water.

This place is what I have to expect for Groupon deals. Made a trip because the deal was expiring. The food was ok. Got the quesdilla to start. It was fine. hot and fresh but I could have made the same thing at home in a few minutes. The service was awful. We were rushed to order. Than it took forever to get main courses. It took a long time to order more beers and they were very overpriced. Even the local beers were more than you see at similar bars. I love sports bars… Good ones. This is medicore and the atmosphere and service is awful. Skip it.

Stopped in here as a party of 10 after checking out the DC Auto Show next door and the convention center. We were seated promptly and shortly after our server came to get drink orders. He was intuitive enough that he started by asking how the checks were going to be split. I really appreciate this as I’ve experienced some nightmares at other restaurants when trying to split things up later. I’m not much of a drinker but some of the other people in my group ordered a beer tower with lager that they were enjoying. I stuck with Dr. Pepper. The server was very attentive and quick on the refills which was a plus. The menu here was a bit surprising to me as they offer traditional American pub fair such as burgers and sandwiches but also a full sushi bar. No one went in for the sushi though. I wasn’t super hunger so I got the crab cake sliders and a side of seasoned waffle fries. The bf got The Border burger which had avocado, fried jalapeño chips, bacon cheese and a chipotle aioli. Most everyone else got burgers except two people that split a HUGE plate of wings and one whom ordered a quesadilla. Not all the burgers were cooked the way they were ordered. My bf’s rare burger came out more on the medium side. After all the walking at the car show I think people were just too hungry to send it back. My crab cake sliders were okay, nothing I would write home about and just a tad over fried. The waffle fries were delicious though and seemed to be the big hit of the table. Prices are a little steep in my opinion but it is DC. The Miller Lite my bf was drinking was about $ 5 per glass which is just too much. I’d maybe give this place another try in the future if I happen to be in the area but it’s not a place I would plan a trip to.

A bit of a neighborhoody divey place. Sure, it’s supposed to be a fully-sanctioned Old Dominion establishment, but the crowds don’t seem to be coming. Met up with some friends on a random weekend evening, and the place was basically empty. There was a large group of brodudes playing beer-pong on one side, a small group of brodudes sitting at a table, and my small group hanging out. Our server was attentive and made sure we all were taken care of with drinks and food, so that was a plus. He even moved us around twice as our group grew in size. I think the menu here is a little bit lost, as they also have a sushi bar. Makes absolutely no sense to me, and maybe that’s why clientele don’t come here. Or maybe the location being at the Convention Center doesn’t really help either. Anyway, meh. It’s OK. Would rather spend a weekend night somewhere else.

Old dominion is a good local bar. I am not a big fan of the inside because it is very dark and lacks windows. HOWEVER, I get takeout from here pretty regularly since it is very close to home. I would HIGHLY recommend getting sushi from here. I know it sounds very odd to say but they have excellent cuts of fish and their sashimi portions are generous and reasonably priced. They have a good happy hour with food and drink specials which makes it one of my preferred spots for meeting people in the Mt Vernon area. Overall a good place for takeout and happy hour.

First and foremost, Drew the bartender is awesome! He makes great drinks and has excellent customer service, on top of being very personable. Definitely sit at the bar if you come here. I just left Old Dominion a few minutes ago and had the WORST restaurant experience I’ve ever had. I was there for lunch with a party of 6 and ERIKA was my waitress. It was pretty busy, but there is no excuse for our terrible service. As soon as we were seated, we had to wait 20 minutes to even received menus, while Erika walked past numerous times without saying a word. Eventually, we were acknowledged and ordered… and our food took almost an hour an a half to come out, and everyone’s food came out BUT mine. Erika informed me that the chefs burned my flatbread pizza that I ordered, and that I would have to wait even longer. At this point, I am pissed. I requested that my pizza be taken off of my bill for this inconvenience — I’ve already waited an hour, and now, possibly waiting up until ANOTHER hour because they burned it? Unacceptable! Erika rudely tells me that they’re not removing it from my bill and will make me another but i’ll just have to wait for it. Excuse me, come again? She never apologizes or even goes to ask the manager to accommodate my request for it to be taken off of my bill. I tell her again that I refuse to pay and to have the manager IAN come out, and her response is «He’s cooking. He’s not coming out.» Eventually, she does take it off my bill, and then shoves the bill in my hand and walks off, as if I have no reason to be upset. Ian the manager never came out to speak to me, either. I finally received my order after another 30 minutes, and the pizza is cold(like refrigerator cold) and sloppy. Needless to say, Erika did not receive a tip from myself or any of my party and we will never sit at her table again. Worst service i’ve ever experienced.

The man and I came here for Tuesday night trivia. I admit the weird sushi menu was part of the draw for me because I wanted something different than the typical bar food. Fiancé ordered the bar food so this will be a fairly encompassing review: –Gyoza. Average. I would have liked a little more meat in them. The salsa consistency sauce on the side was decent. –Picante Roll. Also average. I got it with the White Tuna so obviously the jalapeño overshadowed the fish flavor, but I’m somewhat ok with that because I don’t like my sushi fishy. Not the best roll I’ve ever had but I’d probably order it again if I were here –Baja Fish Tacos. holy fish! We were both surprised with the amount of fish — a small filet really — on each taco. Fiancé said they tasted pretty good –BBQ Wings(we were there for a while ok!?). Cooked well IMO. I like them a bit crispy. The original buffalo sauce was a little too sweet for my tasting, so if I got wings again, I’d try a different kind. So overall the food is decent. Won’t knock your socks off, but you won’t be mad about it either. It’s bit on the pricey side with the tacos running $ 15 and there were no drink specials for trivia so our tab for two was about $ 100(at 4 drinks per person in addition to food). We will probably continue our search for our Tuesday trivia spot.

If you are a sports fan this is a good bar — service was friendly and quick, food was good, and I liked their brews. They also had a pretty eclectic selection — pub food and sushi. If you are an Alabama fan then Old Dominion is a must! Great crowd rooting for the tide, song is played after every touchdown, and true fans(and a few dragged there like me) provide an excellent atmosphere for watching tide games. Roll tide!

When my boyfriend and I first came in this afternoon around 3:30 pm, the hostess said they were«transitioning» the menu and only had appetizers, sushi, and Mongolian food items. Bf and I were cool with that although we initially and continued to question what«transitioning» meant as this was a bar and neither of us think bar food really changes between lunch and dinner. We also wondered if that was code for no one was around to work in the kitchen because it took 45 minutes to serve us two pieces of tuna sashimi, and ODB combo A: tuna roll, salmon roll, and California roll. Those are about as simple and basic as it gets, and it took 45 minutes. Now, I do like the sushi here. I have found it consistently reliable and fresh and good so that’s one thing this place has going for them. I am annoyed when I showed the serve my phone with the Groupon that he walked away with it, which thank you Unilocal reviewers, I knew he was going to do. He had my phone for 10 minutes. Once the issue was resolved with the Groupon and final bill, boyfriend and I paid cash just so we could high tail it out of there. Over an hour for some simple sushi and to pay the bill? Methinks me has experienced WAY better.

I finally found a beer that I liked! Woohoo! Actually, it was more a cider so that explains why I enjoyed it so much. I came here with Carly C on a groupon special. And as with all restaurants on groupon, it usually is never worth it. I ordered the Buffalo Caesar wrap and it was decent but not phenomenal. After all, when I go somewhere that looks shady, I tend to order whatever is on the menu that cannot be messed up. It’s hard to say what their specialty is, because they serve burgers, sushi, and beer. Really?! Old Dominion Brewhouse, I want you to pick one thing and run with it. When I come to a Brewhouse, I am not expecting all these options. Located near the convention center, they are in a prime spot for business but I will NOT be a repeat customer here.

Skeeball, beer towers, wings, and other fried goodness. Went here for a post-Easter respite after giving up fried food and alcohol for Lent and got reacquainted with my vices. Sunday was a slow day which allowed us to have many head to head rounds of skeeball within the group — games were just a mere fifty cents. Careful of the beer towers — they’re deceptively large and hold more than enough beer to make you stumble home if you’re the sole consumer(thankfully, that wasn’t me). Food was decent, better because we had a few drinks prior and our tastebuds were numb. I didn’t notice anything beyond standard barfare so don’t go expecting haute cuisine. Definitely a spot to go back to, though.

I’ve been here a handful of times. I just find this place to be weird for some reason. Maybe because of its location(it’s a part of the convention center). Maybe it is because it has a weird combo of sushi and standard bar food. Something just feels OFF here. So why 3 stars? It has a decent beer selection. It has lots of TVs, so if you want to watch a game, this place isn’t a bad option. In fact it is probably your best option if you’re looking for a sports bar in this neighborhood. I would also choose it over most bars in Chinatown to watch a game since it is a lot more chill and quiet than its peers down the road. Overall, Old Dominion isn’t bad; it just isn’t great either.

Came here on a Groupon with Heather G. When I first purchased the deal it seemed worth it. A nice one to keep in my back pocket for the rare occasion when I’m in the mood to go to an establishment where flip flops are acceptable footwear, and beer can be ordered by the tower. Sometimes you just need that«manly» atmosphere, even if you normally prefer speakeasies with mixologists, mood lighting and a strict dress code. Old Dominion Brewhouse appeared to be a good choice to get my fix of manliness and beer. Sadly by the time the visit was over, the only thing I could say good about the place was that the beer was ice cold, and I didn’t feel like I was going to catch a venereal disease in the bathroom(like I do at most pubs/bars/brewhouses that fit the same description). Not impressive, because those two things I view as requirements rather an perks. On top of that, there were many other requirements that this place just didn’t offer, like: 1. A friendly hostess. When I walked in the girl was sitting down behind the hostess stand with headphones in. What the %#@!? She wasn’t rude or anything, but come on(!), that’s so unprofessional… 2. A thoughtful server. When I showed my phone to Daniel, our server, so he could see the Groupon voucher, he took it from me and just walked away without saying anything. I know he had to record the code off of it, but come on(!), you do NOT walk away with someone’s personal property… 3. Free condiments. $ 0.75 for a 2 oz plastic cup of Hidden Valley? What the %#@!? 4. No charge for tax on a Groupon. My bill came to $ 4.something for the ranch and tax on the Groupon. I have never paid tax on a Groupon. Is that even allowed? Thank goodness my beer was cold. I swear I would have left it had been less than icy. I think I’ve finally learned my lesson about pub/brewhouses/sausage bars, and I will stick with my overpriced, never gonna see a Groupon for it, speakeasies from here on out. There is a reason they can charge so much and never discount; because their quality of product and service warrant the price tag. I’ll happily pay to avoid another craptastic experience as the one I had at ODB.
