We found ourselves here today after making a special trip to try out The Deli and finding it inexplicably, infuriatingly closed.
Between the five of us we had a panini, gyros, Mediterranean veggie pita, 3 different varieties of pizza, and a couple of muffins. Everything was fresh and delicious, and we scored all of the above plus a few drinks and a bag of chips for right around $ 40. Great value, decent service, speedy preparation.
If I’m in the area again, I wouldn’t hesitate to return. Yum!

Tried this Mediterranean restaurant and ordered the monte Catini panini which had mozzarella, pesto, basil, tomato, kosher salt, black pepper, mixed greens, and extra virgin olive oil. Overall, it was a good experience. The location is within the watergate complex, which has a water fountain in the outside eating area. It was a calming experience, I have a thing for water fountains and the soothing sound it makes. However, the panini had only one flaw in that I found a piece of plastic (probably from the mozzarella). No big deal, the panini still tasted good.

Excellent food and décor but needs a little music, atmosphere and liquor license. Perfect distance from the kennedy Center to grab a bite before a show. Loved the gyro and baklava with a latte!

Meh. My wife and I were both unimpressed. Nothing was bad, but our pesto chicken sandwiches were microwaved before being thrown on the panini press. For a place that advertises ‘fresh,’ I was surprised.
Prices are very reasonable for DC. In a pinch, I’d probably go to pot belly a couple blocks away… Especially if all I wanted was a sandwich.

I’ve tried their lamb souvlaki and cilantro hummus and they are both soooo yummy! It’s also very affordable. Good place to grab a bite before a performance at the Kennedy Center.

I was not overwhelmingly impressed. Had lamb gyro. Not so much meat in it. ~$ 6. Too much cheese made it a little soggy. Picked up 50c beverage from CVS nearby. All together, an okay lunch for me. Cannot say it’s not good. It is just another lunch spot among others. That’s all.

My slice of pizza was excellent and my girlfriend’s lamb gyro was really good too. We were very happy with our meal here.

I work near here and come here at least once a week. Their portions are generous (I often can get two meals out of one!) and their prices are low. The staff is also friendly. Everything I have ordered here has been great. Their baklava is one of the best in the city.

I love coming here; Since I’ve began working in the area i have been here a few times and everything i have had from here has been fantastic in addition to the friendly customer service. I have had the lamb and chicken gyros, rice pudding, chocolate and blueberry muffins and the espresso; all delicious quality items. I hear the pizza is amazing too.

Occupying the same footprint as the Italian Gourmet that preceded it, Z offers a refreshing, clean and refined dining experience in comparison. I’m just referring to them as Z as they seem to have changed spellings a few times since opening, but, aside from that, they are a class act. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and they are willing to adjust menu items to your taste — which may not be so welcomed at other establishments.
The menu is clearly focused on Mediterranean (literally…including Italian and some French)…sandwiches, pizza rolls (almost the same as a stromboli) and they take great care in preparing each meal so it fresh and hot.
Some of my co-​workers feel they are overpriced, but I disagree. This is a different dining experience than the Italian Gourmet… with better quality ingredients and more attention to detail and atmosphere… so it is worth the extra few pennies.
I will return often!
