Whale of A Wash

I came here to wash my clothes since I was in the Belmont area.
I used 3 of the triple load washers and 1 double load washer.
They really should post the rates for the dryers because the minutes per quarter were different for all of them.
Example: for two of the dryers I used– same dryer brand– I put 4 quarters each. One gave me 33 minutes of drying time and one gave me 35 minutes of drying time. In another dryer I put in 5 quarters and got 30 minutes of drying time, another dryer I also put in 5 quarters and got 40 minutes of drying time. The dryers are good quality but I would have liked to see the prices and maybe they were posted but I must have missed it.
I wouldn’t make it a point to come back here. It’s not especially clean; the fabric softener compartments of the washers looked moldy and it kind of freaked me out. My clothes came out clean and smelling fine so it all worked out.
I think it’s a 3 star place even though I’d never want to come back. And the other reviewers seem to be happy about the service provided by the employees/​owner so it’s not the worst. Just not the best.

I found out through another Unilocal post that this place had a giant machine — I had a 8×10 cotton area rug that needed a bath so I tried it and there was actually room to spare! So yes, not a pretty place but for 4 $ wash, I saved a $ 160 dry cleaning expense. WHEW.

Whale of A Wash is a great spot! The lady I spoke to on the phone quoted me $ 15 for a queen size comforter (I had paid $ 30 in the past at another cleaner) and when I dropped it off, she said she could have it ready in a few hours! (I’m used to waiting a few days.) The owner works very hard and I will definitely recommend her and her company to others.

I’ve visited this place a couple times and I can say that both times I was able to do my laundry without having to search for an available machine. One of the side-​loaded machines didn’t seem to have a working cold setting but overall I’m happy with this place and will return at least once a month.

Fast, Cheap, & has realistic parking availability. I went early afternoon and finished 4 loads in 90 mins. It’s also up the street from Watertown Gymit, although I wouldn’t leave my clothes unattended here.

It’s a laundromat.
It isn’t particularly the cleanest I’ve ever been in. And most times I go in here I feel as though I’m going to get in a verbal alteration with another patron.
On my most recent trip in, a young girl who didn’t understand personal space was very close to throwing her laundry in the same washer I had just opened. I can understand the confusion as there were at least 3 other washers open on either side of me.
I’ve certainly experienced the «give me your just washed panties» creepers that seem to lurk outside the doors and even wander in the aisles.
The upsides to this place? I found $ 5 on the ground. $.50 before that.
The washers and dryers range from the one you’d find at your home, to triple loaders. It gets the job done and much faster than using the smaller ones. Especially when washing linens.

I have a washer and dryer in my apartment. great for most stuff, except my queen size comforter. They have triple load washers and dryers. I was able to go in, wash it, dry it, all quickly and for about $ 10 in quarters — much cheaper than the $ 25 the cleaners charges to do it!
So if you have large items that wont fit in a normal residential washer and dryer, check this place out — well worth it!

I get my laundry done here every week. The owner, Helen, is incredibly sweet and efficient. My clothes are always ready the same day, folded perfectly, wrapped in clear plastic, for less than $ 1.00/lb. Highly recommended!

Many washers and dryers. Not very clean. A man kept making loops looking in all of the washers and dryers for clothes that were left by others, he didn’t work there. I would not go again.
