Cowboy Chicken

The best rotisserie chicken I have ever had. The meat is so juicy and full of flavor. The sides are awesome too!

Started out in line with only a large overhead menu that you could not read. I asked about what was in the grilled chicken salad. Cashier had no clue what his own food was made with. Received the salad and it was loaded with the most horrible ingredient ever made (cilantro). I spit it out and will never return. Chicken also had a very strange tasting rub on it. Complained to staff about it and no offer to do anything about it. Very expensive for sub par food. I cut the rub off the chicken and fed it to the neighbors dog.

This is by far the last time I will go to Cowboy Chicken. As in my picture I posted you can see the third attempt in bringing me a fresh chicken. What happened to a great restaurant. Lost there values on quality. Employees playing in the back having fun. Great job on loosing me as a customer.

Place started out great we really enjoy the food. Sad to say standards are dropping. We drove there 20 miles one way from Cedar Hill to give them another chance. Last time sides were ice cold but manager came by checking on everyone and told issue he quickly replaced sides. Tonight sides were hot the chickrn was cold. Only tonight manager was not working the floor just filling to go orders. We ate our sides got box to take chicken home can warm it ip at home.
Did ask manager why such issue getting hot food here and issue happened last time (which he remembered) he had no real excuse but said would try harder and gove them another chance. Don’t have to drive 40 miles round trip to get vold food sure can find that closer to home.
The manager did offer give more chicken to take home which i refused telling not here to try looking for free food just wsnt what i pay for to come to table hot. Have pride in their product like they used to.
Side note hate people that complsin about place looking for free food.

Really good food and great staff. The bbq chicken was a little too saucy for my taste, but that’s just me. Sides are great too.

I wanted to write a good review because I looove their chicken enchiladas, we have them catered to my office frequently. I am not a big fan of their chicken though. Since they opened one in Waxahachie I got my fiancé to go with me to try the enchiladas and we get there and the cashier says «oh we are out» nonchalantly like its no big deal to run out of food but what bothered me most is she did not even try to explain why or when they would have more. Guess if I ever go back I will call first to be sure they even have food in stock. Very disappointing I left craving these enchiladas.

I really hate having to write this review because, this could very easily have been a four or five star review.
The service is very good. The staff is friendly and polite. The side items are great and, actually the best thing about this place. The sides are much better than most restaurants.
Unfortunately their chicken is horrible. I have been four times. The first time I ordered a whole chicken and it was great. The taste was amazing. The second time I ordered the same thing and the chicken was so overloaded with salt I had to throw it away. So I figured it was probably just a one time thing. The third time I ordered the same whole chicken again. Again the chicken was so overloaded with salt I threw it away. Several people tried this chicken and no one would eat it. Everyone loved the sides just not the chicken. So, why was there a forth time? I very much wanted to eat that chicken I had the first time but, again I threw away a bird nobody would eat, myself included. I did wait a month before my final attempt thinking that maybe they got things figured out. Unfortunately they did not.

Always excellent! Everyone is so friendly and the food is great! I usually order from Cowboy chicken when family comes in town and family faves are the corn fritters and twice baked potatoes. My dad has traveled the world and only likes my moms food, but he likes their rotisserie chicken and corn fritters. Plus, I just had a baby and I like to come here because it helps me stay fit. I get the quarter white with a side salad. and I also splurge on fries.lol. I know it looks like I only have positive things to say but thy have really good food. I would recommend checking your to go order before you leave.

My family and I decided to eat here tonight because their prices are reasonable and we had a coupon. They have amazing food and excellent customer service. My 18 month old is a very picky eater and doesn’t eat much to begin with, but she finished her child’s plate. She loves their chicken! We’ve also ordered to go before and it didn’t disappoint. Very satisfied!

Initially, I was a little skeptical, but I am glad I tried them. I had the chicken taco (very tasty, and filling), a side of creamed spinach (I buy this shit every week), and black berry cobbler. I was pleased with almost eveything, the cobbler crust was a bit on the mushy side, but the service was great.

We ate a late lunch today, around 2:00pm. The restaurant is decorated very cute, it’s clean, and well thought out.
The staff was not as friendly as I would have expected, but did ask if I had any questions. When I did have a question, she wasn’t listening and I had to repeat myself three times.
The food is very good, has large portions, and was presented well. The chicken was hot and tasty and I really enjoyed the twice baked potatoes.
For drink choices, they offer sodas, lemonade, water, tea (sweet and unsweet) and watermelon sweet tea. If the kids do all the activities on their coloring sheets, they can turn it in for a free ice cream.
There are several specials: for seniors, buy one get one free, dine-​in only. And $ 5 Wednesdays: get a whole chicken for $ 5 w/​purchase of two large sides.

chicken could have cooked a little longer, do not go if you are in a hurry, it took over an hour for our food. We saw several people get up and question where was their order. Several hand to leave. Several had to wait on food as they had run out of chicken. What no chicken. Guess that is why ours took forever to come up. We had to wait for it to cook.
Not that great of a meal. was not really impressed. Even the table next to us got a piece of a knife in theirs.

I treated my son & family to the Waxahachie C.C. yesterday as a belated father’s day outing. I have to say I am very pleased. I don’t care for fast food, despise eating at chain restaurants & unless absolutely necessary, stay away from them all together.
Cowboy Chicken is nothing like that. First… I love chicken & own a rotisserie, as I steer clear of fried foods with the exception of a few times yearly. Second… I prefer only eating all natural, organic foods even when eating out. Third… I’m frugal to the point of almost being ridiculous about it. I am happy to report C.C. met all my quirky requirements.
We ordered a variety of dishes & all were yummylicious. I got the grilled chicken breast with creamed spinach & black eyed peas. If I could’ve, I would’ve eaten a platter of the spinach. I’m a scratch cook from Louisiana & I’ve never had spinach so tasty. My 2 yr. old grand daughter fed herself the spinach. That’s huge kudos! The peas were a tad salty, but the flavor was amazing.
My son tried the BBQ drums w/​fries (& something else). He even thought the fries were spectacular. My daughter in law got the rotisserie dark with spinach & corn fritters. The fritters were better than any place they’d had them. I ordered an extra plate of the BBQ drums just to be able to taste one as not to take away from my son’s! OMG… yummy. The fried okra was great too. Even the tea was memorable! I want to go in next time just for dessert! I didn’t see coffee on the menu, but… that cobbler looked divine! OH… I want to try the enchiladas too. Guess you can tell I’m already planning a visit!
Other than my chicken breast being a tad bit dry, salty peas, & the rolls being hard, I can honestly say this place rocks. Being a scratch cook, I make these same mistakes at times.
With everything we ordered, portions were plenteous, we had enough left over for my son’s next day lunch & only spent $ 35. Like I said… every quirk satisfied!

You have to try it for yourself. Huge step above the normal chicken dives.

I have been hearing about how good this place was from a few of my friends. Well my family and I went tonight for dinner and I wasn’t really impressed. The food was mediocre at best. My wife and I both had BBQ chicken sandwiches, fries, and fried okra. The bbq sandwiches were ok, definitely not something to brag about. The fries and okra weren’t made fresh, definitely frozen. Honestly, in my opinion the food at Dickeys is better. If you are looking for fast food quality then this might be an option.

Wow is all I can say. Well, I have more. I had eaten at a cowboy Chicken in Denton before and it was OK. This place… Wow. First, there was no one here when we came in, which I took as a bad sign. I thought their food would be stale and cold, but I was wrong. Their service was prompt and friendly and they even gave us some extra chicken!
We got the daily lunch special of dark chicken pieces with potato chips and fried okra and my sister got the same but with French fries. The chicken was nice and juicy, tender and flavorful. The potato chips, MAN! They make them in-​house and are so well flavored as was the okra. I am impressed and full.
I’m surprised it’s so empty in here right now. Hope they last so I can come back.

My favorite thing about this place is the manager. She has been there all 3 times we’ve been there and is extremely courteous but not in a smothering way. She brought out baby a free ice cream cone our first time in and that sealed the deal for us.
The rotisserie chicken is very good. It’s juicy with a crisp skin. Think HEB x 5! The sides are also really good. The Mac and cheese tastes homemade and is even sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.
I’m not a huge fan of the green beans (they are fresh but they are string beans and are a bit tough, especially for kids. The loaded potatoes were a bit too dry for me. The other sides are really good, though.
The sweet tea is really good and the cobblers are amazing.
Overall, I really like this place. I was skeptical, thinking it would be a cheap chicken place (like Chicken E) but it isn’t. It’s a really good restaurant ran by really nice people.
You can go in with $ 20 and feed a family of 4 easily.

Without a doubt, their chicken enchiladas are amazing! Soooooo good. Customer service is really good too and the chocolate chip cookies are spectacular. Only 4 stars because the rolls aren’t as great as Chicken Express and the brownies are just ok. If you come here, get the enchiladas. Best option on the menu!

Love this place! So excited to see one in Wax now. They have been in Dallas for over 30 years. Go for the Chicken Enchiladas with Peach Cobbler for dessert.
