How this place is still open is beyond me. When you step in Hong Kong Supermarket you’ll always get the feeling that this place is closing. The shelves are always half empty and it’s always messy. Customer service is non existant so don’t expect much. Prices are a bit more on the high side compared to 99 Ranch, 168 or H-Mart. Definitely pass on their meat/produce/fish. One too many times have I got meat that was not fresh. Parking is plentiful but try not to park close to anybody. The spaces in this plaza are very very narrow and people don’t seem to care how they open their doors. If you care about your car walk a little further. Make sure the item you’re grabbing is also the correct item. There are a lot of things here that are mislabeled as well.

This place is dead empty which tipped us off that something was wrong. Once we browsed the fruits and veggies we discovered why — they mislabeled everything. As in, there was a sign for kent mangos(expensive) but after picking one up we noticed they were not kent mangos, they were just regular mangos. This was the same for the cherries, apples, and other fruits and vegetables. Deceptive. Avoid.

nice clean area lots of good deals good food very cool cashiers that work there, some of them do not know that much english but you say hi to them and theyll try their best… be kind :) one time though, this guy kept staring at me… so what the heck i stared at him back… needless to say he lost the staring contest. maybe he was the manager or security who needs training on «it’s not polite to stare at people» and«to scope out the area and peeps without them knowing –ninja style» …either way it was disturbing they also had some religious statues in the front… wth? is this a temple or a church or a shopping store? that would alienate some customers perhaps anyways, plenty of good parking but there seems to be no security in the parking lot… better brush on your mma skills

Right now they are under renovation. Not sure when they will reopen, but I’ll come back to check it out and update the review.

We love shopping here because it has a plethora of Asian veggies, wide aisles, clean storefront, and a good selection of seafood. I probably wouldn’t recommend their«land»(beef, pork, chicken) selection as it is limited and sometimes wanting. We also love that we don’t have to fight traffic to get to the 99 Ranch Market. *DING!* Weekly deals are great — and the best time to stock up is early in the week when most of the produce has just been unloaded fresh and organized. =) Usually one can find items for less than $ 0.99 for most of their veggies(and mangos, peaches, apples, kabocha). =) Sometimes the Mitsuwa on Azusa has cheaper items but you have to watch for those. Hong Kong Supermarket consistently has good deals. They have a fair selection of other ethnic items but definitely more limited like most Asian supermarkets. … They take credit cards — but if you need cash, there’s a CVS pharmacy which has an ATM and. if you want a drink while you’re at it, Meow Meow Café is right across the plaza. =)
The go to place when I don’t feel like fighting the crowds at the usual Asian supermarkets — plenty of parking and hardly ever a line at checkout. And since there are no crowds, there’s barely a wait when you get something at the meat or fish departments. Do stock up on their weekly specials. One thing to note is that the quality isn’t as great as 99 Ranch. On the plus side, they do provide plastic bags to hold your groceries! Credit card purchases require a minimum of $ 5.
