Decided to try Petra because of all the great reviews, was very disappointed. The food was good not great. All the entrées were tasty but needed more of a variety in accompaniments. There was rice, rice & more rice with each entrée. The wait staff was friendly but not very attentive. Our dinner dishes were never cleared from the table even when they brought us dessert. The entertainment went from one extreme to the other. The belly dancer was good if you could see her, the woman playing piano was so depressing. Unfortunately, I don’t think we will go back.

The good points… food was good wine was good. The appetizer was very good. The so so… The entrée’s had too much of the same kind of rice, which drowned out the good. The piano player would be good for a slow wake. The belly dancer was entertaining but going from a wake to a carnival was a bit jarring The service was let’s say minimal. We probably won’t be back.

Food was great. Service was BEYONDTERRIBLE. Had to ask for our waitress twice after waiting at least 20 minutes for our check and a box for leftovers. Not to mention the wait to order and not being checked on after receiving our food, particularly to refill drinks. Needless to say, I never got my box for leftovers. Staff did nothing to compensate for our wait and even joked about it not being late enough yet. Didn’t find it funny.

My family and I went here last night for my mom’s birthday. We’re Jordanian so, needless to say, we have tons of experiences at many different Mediterranean restaurants/lounges. This place is already one of my favorites. The food is so fresh and delicious and the service is amazing. They had a singer, his name was Rami and he was awesome, and so entertaining. We had a blast, eating, dancing, drinking. The bar is incredible, FULLY stocked with every type of alcohol you can imagine and the drinks are so good(and stiff), so you get your money’s worth. Overall, this place was very impressive to say the least. We’ll definitely be back. Also, this place is HUGE, so it’s perfect for throwing events or parties. Thank you to the entire staff for a perfect birthday celebration for my mom.

1st time at Petra and I must say… This is a top notch establishment from top to bottom. If you’re looking for real authentic delicious middleastern food look no further. Mind you I’m Jordanian myself and been to over 20 – 30 restaurants in LA and this place blows them out the water. Not to mention you’ll be fine dining in an absolutely gorgeous venue with a bar that would make some top tier nightclubs jealous. Also if you’re looking for live entertainment they do have it. The night they went they had a live singer who was amazing(Rami) and our family had a blast on a Wednesday night! This is truly the hidden gem in the valley and when people discovery it you probably won’t be able to get a Friday night reservation that easy. This was my first time but definitely not my last. Can’t wait to try the other things on the menu.

Good food. Nice ambiance and really attentive servers. Prices are decent and appetizers are delicious. Kebab and the file mignon were super tasty and the cocktails are to die for. The bartender makes them really strong and they all are very fresh with a great herbal mix. Especially the Mediterranean Martini — it even comes in the fanciest cocktailglas I’ve seen so far. They have belly dancers and live music. The size of the food is good and prices are reasonable. I had better mediterranean food before but it comes pretty close to outstanding. Hummus could have a bit more salt.

The raw kibbeh was full of fat and didn’t taste like kibbeh. The kabob was over cooked! Maybe I went on the wrong day!

I’m with Randy B on this one… I wanted to like this place. I did not know it had been open since March. Nor did I understand why we were the ONLY diners in there on a Sunday for lunch… but we were. It looked like it should have been and maybe is more lively, set for huuuuuuge crowds for dining and dancing, but yet, there we were, all alone. They also do NOT have a lunch menu, so there we were, ordering from their dinner menu… with dinner prices. We adjusted to that part… we both ordered a bowl of lentil soup, then split some cold dip appetizers. The lentil soup was decent enough, but honestly, I’ve had far better from many other Middle Eastern restaurants. If the restaurant name, Petra, identifies that it is of Jordanian roots, that’s fine, but THIS lentil soup lacked a little something. I also take issue with their dips. The hummus was good, but again, I’ve had better elsewhere. The yogurt dip was just plain yogurt to me, terribly sour and with no flavor… or attempt at giving it any. Then, there was supposedly a zucchini dip, and I don’t know, the flavor was just strange. It didn’t taste spoiled or anything; I simply didn’t like it. There was also a parsley dip, which I didn’t care for, and«Motabal,» which I think was eggplant. Again, not a fan. Lastly, there was a green salad, which was very fresh(waitress said they were organic greens), with a pleasant dressing on them. Most of the dips, we didn’t like/eat, and while it was very nicely presented, cost $ 21… kind of on the high side. I have no clue how their hot meals/entrees are, but I probably won’t return to find out. Too bad because this place looks like it can handle the crowds, parties, lots of music and fun, even dancing. I hope they can make it work. Just not my cup ‘o tea thus far, and I’ve been to a great many Middle Eastern restaurants and have enjoyed their native foods far more than I did at this Petra Restaurant. Sorry.

A beautiful resturant, well prepared delicious food. I simply had falafel appetizer and I got some hummus and very delicious pita bread. My father got the shish kebab fillet minion It was a generous portion and again beautifully prepared. The restrooms are very clean, spacious and in good working order. The décor is elegant and I can imagine it is a great place to cater a special gathering. And the employes are kind/polite and give good service.

Was planning on going to another restaurant and it was closed so just figure the family and I would try Petra. Some of the best Mediterranean food I have ever had. The staff was helpful on explaining the dishes and making some recommendations. Wasn’t the fastest service but certainly acceptable and gave us time to enjoy our drinks. Staff was pleasant, drinks were great, and lamb was out of this world. Clean, pleasant and comfortable. Overall I was very pleased and will be back soon. Will recommend friends and family and you to dine here.

Any questions about the menu? Forget about getting a straight answer. Salad dressing on side? Apparently they don’t think that exists and won’t do it. Lunch menu? Nope. Small portions, leaving hungry and with way less money in your wallet? Now that you can count on. Only reason i gave two stars instead of one is the hummus was decent, yet I even had to ask to ensure it not to be doused in oil.

Last night we celebrated a birthday at Petra and I think my personal experience was better than the birth boy’s and everyone else’s. But, I consider myself very simple & easy. I don’t substitute etc… but for those who do, Petra might be a little upsetting for you. Considering they are 6 months old, I expect a little more of a crowd. Especially with such a beautiful atmosphere(better than any Mediterranean resturant I have been). They were kind enough to try their best with their service & gave us a bottle of champagne on the house for the birthday man but still, very hard for the server to understand our requests on descriptions of each plate. I enjoyed the food, but have had better.(They have some room to grow) My review is a 4 star because 1) I’d truly like to see this place succeed. 2) Service was decent but I could tell they were too new & hard to judge completely but they tried their best & you could tell. 3) Live entertainment and an epic JBL system on its way. 4) Felt at home since I am middle eastern with the atmosphere! 5) Food was good! Cheers to this business! I’ll give them a second shot to see a 5 star updated review!

I really want to like this place. Good people. But crickets could be heard, and that shouldn’t be the case on a Saturday night at 8pm. After all, been open for 5 – 6 months since March. No energy, and basically no people: 3 other tables for a total of 12 people. Nice ambiance: ============ Very original feel, and I was transported into another world. Bar is beautiful with a lit back. Best dishes of the night: =================== 1. Foul($ 8.25) — Fava Beans, Garlic, Olive Oil. Served really hot, this was super delicious.(5.0 stars) 2. Hummus($ 8.25) — Garbanzo Beans, Sesame Oil, Lemon Juice and Garlic. Not the best ever, but really close.(4.5 stars) 3. Kafta Kebab($ 16.00) — Ground beef Mixed with Onion, Parsley, Petra Spices, Served with Rice. Not as good or as much portion as Maral in Agoura, but still very good.(4.0 stars) 4. Beef Shawarma($ 17.00) — Served with Rice. Nicely cooked, but under-seasoned…still worthy.(4.0 stars) 5. French Fries($ 6.00) — Seasoned with Garlic and Cilantro. Didn’t taste like it was made from fresh potato, but perfectly cooked and seasoned.(4.0 stars) What I didn’t like the most: ==================== Rigid rules. No substitutions. No flexibility whatsoever. Unfortunately, not very good: ====================== 1. For $ 30, I got the Prime Filet Mignon. It was 6 chunks and the equivalent of 1 skewer. Very tender, but a strange vinegar flavor — I do not like the marinade used. I ate 3, and will try to save it by bbq’ing the last 3. Served with a side of rice pilaf, flavored with cinnamon amongst other things, and this I did not like either.(2.0 stars) 2. Pita($free) — served warm and crispy, but no flavor. The saving grace is the sesame-oregano oil, but even that I’ve had better. Overall: ====== Like I said, I really wanted to like it. If it weren’t for their plans to add live music and belly dancing soon, I wouldn’t go back. But, I will try it again to be sure. I wish the ownership and staff all the best for a successful future.
