This place is my new favorite spot in the upper valley. My girlfriend and I started with the Mezze Platter which was delicious. I was lucky enough to go in when they were offering the tuna kebabs which were out of this world… They have a great wine list and good bottled beers. The coffee and teas are fresh and well made, great flavor. The almond pudding and the baklava were both so good. Everything about this place was 5⁄5 — service, food, atmosphere, price, location, etc. Overall Tuckerbox is a hidden gem that everyone should at least try once. Just make sure to call ahead because it books up extremely fast.

Service was great, and the ambience is cute. Great place to do some work. The soup had no salt. The mezze plate with lavash bread was fabulous. Great yogurt, hummus and the bread fresh. When it came time to the chicken kabob sandwich, there was no spice on the sandwich. It was extremely bland. Middle eastern food is not spicy but it’s not bland. This was such a boring sandwich to eat, that tasted like nothing.

We went there for dinner. It’s a bit on the expensive side for smaller portions of food

No question as to why this place was packed when I walked in. The food is amazing and the atmosphere, even amongst the crowd, is serene and eclectic. I ordered the Meze Platter to go. The large version costs 17.99, which I think may be a little too pricey, however– I’ve not seen the portion sizes of each item in the large platter. I ordered the smaller option for 12.99. Everything tasted fresh, and delicious! But I think I shouldacouldawoulda been given a bit more of each«dip» at the price I paid. Nonetheless, it was all super tasty and I only wish I didn’t live 40miles away from this gem.

Stopped here randomly on the way home from skiing and wish we lived closer. Fantastic ambiance and very friendly service. Best babaganoush I’ve ever had– also tried chicken kabobs and Borek with Turkish rice pudding for dessert. Would be a great date spot.

Love this place! What on earth is this great little restaurant doing in the Upper Valley? We recently had dinner there and were happily surprised. The food was honest, fresh, simple, tasty, with little sparks of creative flourishes here and there. It reminded us of our favorite everyday kebap restaurant in Karakoy, Istanbul. Doners and shish kebab plates were delicious, as were the traditional-with-a-twist appetizers. Good selection of Turkish wines, including nice red and white house wines. Dinner service was casual and friendly. We also enjoyed the décor and ambience, friendly and cozy, great for a casual date night or for a late snack and glass of wine. I highly recommend the sampler appetizer for a chance to try a bunch of different treats. We will be back soon!

Holy Sheep! The lamb meatballs here were out of this world! My gf and I stopped by this place for dinner during a road trip and were glad we did! I got the lamb meatballs which were hot off the grill. They were amazingly juicy and flavorful. The inside was a perfect shade of pink. What put it over the top were the grill marks which added a beautiful charcoal flavor. The meatballs came with salad, rice, and pickled cabbage which balanced out the flavors very well. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy with soft lighting and on the quiet side.

What a pleasant surprise! Visiting from New York/New Jersey area where there’s an abundance of spectacular restaurants. Thanks to Unilocal and its viewers or else we would never have discovered this wonderful place. We loved the Doner, baklava and künefe served with a warm welcome. Clean… friendly…delicious

Although advertised as a Mediterranean/Turkish café, Tuckerbox has more of a coffee shop vibe. We came here around 11am on a weekday and was able to get a table without too much of a fuss. I can see how crazy busy this place would be on a weekend, though. Menu is on the smaller side, but everything was high quality and fresh. We ordered the grilled cheese and chicken pesto sandwich, and both had great flavors(I generally dislike chicken breast because it tends to be dry, but their’s was done right). Both are served on Texas style toast, which was delicious. In addition, as a tea lover, I enjoyed their vast selection of high quality loose leaf teas as opposed to the generic bagged teas. Great place to enjoy some coffee/tea while reading or working!

The appetizer plate of babbagounush, hummus and Turkish salsa was excellent. All of our main courses were perfectly spiced, but the tenderloin Janson was the hands down winner. Don’t leave without trying the baklava made with Vermont maple syrup!

I have been to Tuckerbox, once on the way to Montréal and once on the way back from Stowe on a fall trip while taking I89 instead of the beautiful route 100. The place is conveniently located in the town of Hartford, VT. Best thing about this place is access from 89, not that far. Food is good though, Lavash bread. Hummus and falafel are good so is chicken Adana and chicks shish Adana. Bad thing it’s prices are on the higher side.

This was a good place for lunch. The food was freshly prepared and very flavorful. Too many good things to list. Try them all. you will not be disappointed. Turkish coffee was excellent. This is an order at the counter and sit down. They bring your food to you.

Great little place in a sleepy town. My only critique is that the menu is ultra small so there’s a chance you can’t find something you are in the mood for. Aside from that it seems anything you pick is high quality. The kids weren’t impressed by the hot chocolate but my coffee was rich European style which I like. Steamed milk and granola with blueberries was excellent.

Needing a pit stop for healthy lunch food, I turned to Unilocal and this place had enough(recent) positive reviews. On the plus side, the coffee is excellent. I ordered a dirty chai(which was not in the menu but very doable by making a chai and adding a shot of espresso) and it came out hot and in a round handled mug that I could wrap my hands around. Yay! On the minus side, I wanted something light and ordered their Shepherds Salad which was advertised as tomato and cucumber with assorted seasonings in a lemony dressing. Now, I’ve eaten many tomato cucumber salads, usually at Greek restaurants, but this one was about 7⁄10 tomato and 3⁄10 everything else. I wanted bigger slices of cucumber, not the tiny slivers I got. I also expected, from other places, more of an even distribution of tomato to cucumber. Nope. At $ 8, I was unimpressed and despite eating nearly an entire tomato it didn’t fill me. This is why I’m giving my review only four stars.

Positively the best place to eat in WRJ. Also the most friendly staff and servers. This is some real world, home-cooked, daily-made, fresh Turkish and Mediterranean food. Prices are a tad high but I’ll take it in otherwise weary and bland White River Junction! Eat here!!!

I’ve been here twice now on two separate occasions while visiting my friends. Coming from San Francisco, I’m spoiled with really great coffee everywhere, but this place does not disappoint. The lattes are large and reasonably priced; the coffee is high quality and doesn’t taste burnt. Sit down on a cold day inside with a hot beverage and enjoy a pastry. Most recently, I got a mango clove scone which was delightful, slightly warm, and a perfect companion to my coffee. The blueberry muffin that my friend got was equally delicious and doesn’t taste like mass-produced, generic baked goods. The last time I was there, I got their egg samwich, which is delicious but pretty filling and heavy — with egg, ham, and buttery thick white bread. Good if you’re nursing a hangover, but I think I prefer the pastry + coffee combination. This is a great coffee shop that has a great ambiance, brick walls, nice staff, and quality food & drinks. It could be easy & pleasant to spend a morning or afternoon hanging out here.

I came here one night when I was on a business trip at Dartmouth. I used trusty ol Unilocal to find me a great spot to eat. I was originally going to a restaurant down the street but found it was closed for a few weeks when I arrived. I was disappointed but found Tuckerbox with equally great reviews right down the street. It’s located in this cute little downtown area of white river junction. Takes a minute to get to but it’s worth it. I walked in and it was packedddd. I was lucky to get a seat at their makeshift bar area. At this point I’m pretty starving so I decide to order the appetizer sampler and a chicken kebab. It comes with this awesome tortilla like bread that is puffed up when it’s served to you. The bread is warm and chewy. Perfect for dipping in my hummus, eggplant, and yogurt dips. The chicken kebab was amazing. It was cooked to perfection and soooo tender. It came with this cabbage salad and rice. Yum I want to eat it again.

Dear lord this place is amazing. My boyfriend and I were planning a trip to Vermont and I had bookmarked this place because it fell under the coffee category and was right around the corner from the hotel we were staying at, so I figured it’d be good for a breakfast stop, however a coffee shop this is not.(They do serve coffee though and it’s good) Once we got up to White River Junction though it was pissing rain and we kind of wanted to just hang around by the hotel. I was sick of driving and there wasn’t a whole lot around so we settled on eating here. They don’t really take reservations per se(or names) and it was a zoo on Saturday night. When we showed up at 6:30, the hostess advised us to come back around 8 as it should be a little emptier then. We did just that and were seated immediately. We got the stuffed grape leaves(my first time having them, ever) and I ordered the doner kebab. My boyfriend got one of the guvec things — I think it was the lamb. For dessert we got the apple maple baklava(we were on a «Hey we’re in Vermont, let’s get lotsa maple stuff» kick. Everything was super delicious. The service was good, there was a minor snafu where I had ordered an iced chai and they brought it to me hot, but they happily rectified it. The décor was pretty adorable too.
