With a coffee and pastry nowadays costing $ 7 or more almost anywhere you go in Williamsburg, it’s something I indulge in only occasionally. For those moments, Black Star makes it worthwhile, with prepared perfectly coffee and outstanding baked goods. Even the plain croissants are of a different level of quality.

I wish they offered discounted coffee refills so I could hang around all day for cheap, but I understand. As it is, this is a chill spot to get your fingers dirty in Dough donuts on a Saturday or Sunday morning when it’s surprisingly not crowded which I like very much. I also like how the ATM machine is behind a table, which could be fun if you were seated there wearing a bank teller hat.

I like this place. They serve Dough donuts, croissants, a few sandwiches, macaroons, and oh yeah coffee.
I had a croissant sandwich and hot drip coffee to start one of my mornings off. Both were tasty and got me just in the right mood to enjoy and make the most of my day.

Awesome space — along with AMAZING Chai lattes… both hot and cold are my favorite. Not sure what they do differently with their chai, but they’re downright addicting. The tables are a bit sticky and wobbly, so i wouldn’t recommend it to sit on the side. I enjoy the bar table near the window — like from a movie ;) Staff are nice and welcoming as well.

Great bakery — very cute and inviting. Great selection of savoury croissants — I got the prosciutto with arugula and pecorino — divine! The Turkey croissant also looked great. Looking forward to going back to try the other croissants — great treat after a morning run!

Finally a café/​bakery that I like. Décor is very comforting and homey. Their food looks amazing which I will try eventually. I decided to pop in this am to get something to drink; I went for a Iced Chai (which I never order) and to my surprise I loved it. They charge you an extra $ 1 for Soy Milk which I find ridiculous but hopefully that will change. No other coffee shop around here charges extra for Soy Milk & etc. I planned on bringing my son after school bc their donut display looked amazing. Guess what?! They get their donuts from Dough! How freaking awesome is that (and would be even more awesome if they had a vegan menu. Just saying!). My son & I will be a regular There’s no staff but there’s a Filipino lady who takes orders and works the register as well. She’s very sweet & friendly.

They use Oslo coffee which is tasty. The friendly staff allowed me to sample all of the milks and introduced me to hemp milk which I will now use in porridge and for my cereal ;) a young, hip vibe in a cute little café. Found my new coffee joint.

Cute space with fair amount of tables for working and some front window space as well. Coffee was good, place is clean, baristas friendly, and crowd atmosphere is not noisy. They offer free wifi (no password) as well and have a clean restroom. There is a selection of small baguettes and some pastries for decent prices. I’m not sure if they carry Dough but it seemed like the doughnuts they carry are from Dough. A great place to hang out or catch a little break time before going out as the location closes at 9.

The greatest Coffee shop this neighborhood could ask for. Idk what they put in it but my day has been better every time I go there before getting on the L. And I’m STILL happy when the L is service is no bueno! If you’re lucky enough to get Justin behind the counter then you win for the day.

I was so excited when this place opened, as I live right around the corner and figured I would pop in daily on my way to the train. It’s also a pretty dead block, storefront-​wise so it’s nice to have some viable options on that side of the street.
Unfortunately, each time I’ve come in here (4 so far), I find the people to be extremely unwelcoming, borderline rude. It’s crazy. My iced americanos cost $ 4.50 with tip and nobody even looks at me? I can’t fathom coming here on a daily basis. I’d rather walk out of my way to Variety or Gimme where they’re all sweeties.
Too bad too, because the space here is super nice, and the coffee is good too.

Super cute with friendly staff. Carried dough doughnuts which was a nice surprise. :) coffee was good, could be a tad stronger. Great atmosphere and little cubby porch in the back!

Great atmosphere and quality coffee and teas, but the pastries are what will certainly have me coming back. Melt in your mouth French macaroons, fluffy Madeline cookies, flavor packed almond chocolate croissants, and epic donuts (from Dough, which is never a bad choice) all make this place worth becoming my new regular café spot.

Really happy this place opened in the neighborhood!
Good coffee and great sandwiches. I recommend the Sriracha egg sandwich. Best breakfast sandwich in the neighborhood. My girlfriend had a prosciutto sandwich on croissant that was also great.
Happy and helpful staff. Pretty fast wifi.

— They have a skilled barista that knows how to make pretty micro foam art and can craft a balanced cup of coffee.
— Aesthetic is hipster, bright, and beautiful!
— The pastries are made at this location — *Their croissants are AWESOME: Flakey on the outside, plenty of gooey softness on the inside.
— Macarons are imported ~ !
— The team is very friendly ~ !
— Free Wifi
+1 star for being awesome AND only a block away from my apartment!
However, I think this spot is worth checking out even if it is not super close to you. Coffee and pastry connoisseurs are welcome!
