Don’t go here for Pancakes. I did, but was told the french toast was better. I live close by and went again since I get 20% off for being a neighbor. The french toast is the absolute best i have ever eat with the perfect texture and crunch. Ask for cinnamon and sugar and/or powdered sugar they have both. Very friendly serving staff. Early mornings are not so busy. I recommend the Ultimate Breakfast with of course French toast. I also get grits w/cheddar cheese melted on top. So anywhere that serves good grits knows«breakfast» if you get what i’m saying. Eat well my friends!

This is a very clean restaurant with excellent food & great service. We had pancakes as good as you find and a great Grecian omelet. This is as good as a pancake house gets. Highly recommend! We travel extensively and appreciate good restaurants who deliver what you hope for. This is on our«A» list for future trips to Williamsburg.

My wife and I went to crave her weird obsession with chicken and waffles. This place has a old school diner feel with very good food. Service was okay but could have been much better. Overall good experience.

This is an average diner/pancake place. The only thing it has that isn’t average is a great gluten free selection. Well recommended on the find me GF app, but I was disappointed slightly by service and food quality.

Extremely satisfied with this dining experience. Arrived at the most crowded time of the morning with a party of six and was still seated within 15-minutes. Enjoyed a generous helping of fried catfish(two enormous fillets), two eggs over medium, fried potatoes, and a side of Virginia ham – all of which was amazing. The staff works together as a family and reminds us all exactly why we love these generations-old«mom and pop» joints so much. Photos of the founder and his family kvetching with famous patrons decorated the lobby, along with other historical memorabilia. We were fortunate to arrive as the founder worked the crowd, while his son, the manager, ran the floor. Our server, a charming young lady, was perfect in her role… it all just seemed to click in way you’ll never see at some national-level country or cosmopolitan breakfast franchises. Well done!

I say 5 stars, my wife says 3. Good food in a basic diner environment. Good service. We had breakfast. I asked for the home fries to be burned, and they came… weird. Really good, but weird. They almost looked like they had been deep fried, but they weren’t greasy at all. An even, nice golden brown all over, with no burnt spots like you’d get from doing them in a pan. I’m wondering if maybe they used a convection oven? Anyway, they were GREAT! The local cops seem to like the place, so I guess they are consistently good.

We stopped by for lunch before my parents returned home to Missouri after spending a week in Williamsburg visiting the grandkids. The Capitol Pancake House is a family operation and it shows. We always feel welcome and comfortable. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The food is tasty, hot and on time with a surprisingly diverse and very affordable menu in a very clean and pleasant atmosphere. If you can only choose 1 place for breakfast or lunch. Do yourself a favor and choose this place. You’re welcome. :-)

There are 8 or 9 pancake joints within a mile of Colonial Williamsburg and we chose Capitol based on the front desk at our hotel(They also recommended Astronomical). We also found a 10% off coupon — which about 5 places had. Also — most places only do breakfast and lunch hours(6 or 6:30AM to 2 or maybe 2:30PM). We did ONE and only ONE pancake breakfast and this one was very, very good. I had a ½ a pecan waffle(They offer ½ waffles!!!) and a side of crispy perfect bacon. El kiddo had a single chocolate chip pancake — loaded with chocolate chips. Husband had a «bacon pancake» — a stack of 3 cakes with a single slice of bacon baked in. He would have preferred small pieces of bacon scattered throughout — but the pancake batter itself is EXCELLENT. They KNOW how to do breakfast here — for sure! Friendly service from a beautiful eastern-European server.

Nothing was good, seriously. My girlfriend and I always get two different things so we can try each others. Not satisfied. Good service and thats about it. We went to Shorties the next day and thats A LOT better. Visited July 2013

Just had an amazingly healthy meal here… Grilled salmon filet on a spinach salad for under $ 10. This will become a staple!

Not too crowded. Clean, well setup, modern restaurant. Waitress got our coffee/tea and water quickly and took our order. Food came back fast. I had an omelette and home fries. My food was very good, hot and even the toast was actually buttered. Waitress checked back with us and was very attentive. Bacon was perfect and Eggs were perfect. I would def come back when im in town.

My girlfriend and I came to Williamsburg on a spur of the moment weekend trip so we didn’t exactly map out places to eat — or stay until we got here. After picking the LaQuinta Inn on Capital Landing Rd. as our roosting place we were curious about the pancake house next door. She had the breakfast sampler: 2 pancakes perfectly buttermilked, 1 piece of sausage, 3 pieces of bacon not over salted, slightly charred for flavor, a single piece of Virginia country ham which was the low point for her as she found it bland. Two scrambled eggs and the choice of home fries over grits. I had an 8oz rib eye steak with 2 scrambled eggs, home fries, 3 pieces of bacon. Steak was cooked to order and fatty in home cooked southern fashion. It boosted the flavor tremendously. And coffee. Perfectly fine black or with cream. Total cost, two people: $ 38.83 — tax included. In short: if you love a hometown feel to cooking with a tremendous value of money, give this place a shot. I’m sure you’ll love it!

My husband and 8 year old son came by for breakfast one morning during the end of Spring break and we thought we would stop in before going to Colonial Williamsburg. What a pleasant surprise, it was very close to the historic stie and the food was good. Very few people can go wrong with breakfast and this place seemed to have been around for a while. I had the french toast which was delicous and my son had pancakes which he loved. It has a diner feel but plenty of space. Everyone was very pleasant. All in all it was a great place to stop for breakfast to get real food that was not expensive. We actually wished we had discovered it earlier on our vacation.

Service was slow, but our waitress was very nice! Food was just ok, I had the sampler with eggs, bacon and ham. Home fries were not as good as I hoped(I love home fries). Pancakes were fluffy. My son seemed to enjoy it as he ate from everyone’s plate. Ambiance is nice, comfy. Price was good, got to use a coupon!

I’m in town for work and saw the menu in my hotel’s menu guide. I truly did not expect it to be this good. The blueberry pancakes had Real fresh wild blueberries. Tiny and bursting with flavor. It’s been a long time since I’ve had real blueberries. I mentioned this to my guy and he said«we bought fresh blueberries last time we were at Costco.» Men. The whipped cream was in a separate bowl so the pancakes didn’t arrive soggy. The eggs tasted really good also. Not like they were from damaged chickens, like in some restaurants. The coffee was hot and the service was great. Free WiFi! I definitely recommend if you’re in town.

We were in Williamsburg for three days and had breakfast here twice, including on a busy Sunday morning. Both times the service was fast and friendly(different waitresses each day) and the food was great. The place didn’t smell old and musty to us. One morning we had the chicken and waffles and the fried chicken was fantastic. The next day it was catfish and eggs. There were two very large pieces of catfish and it was delicious. The thing I liked the most was that they left the coffee carafe at the table so I could do my own refills.
