Our waiter, Jeff, made our afternoon! Exceptional service and knowledge of the menu! The food itself was very very good. Nice bottle of wine and a charming outdoor area, coupled by unique cuisine and fabulous service. How can you get any better?

Okay, I want to start off on a positive note — the strawberry bellini is EVERYTHING. I seriously mean, it is the best boozy brunch beverage I have consumed in my life thus far. The décor is adorable too, feels like an Alice in Wonderland tea party experience. That’s kind of where the good news stops… who in the name of brunch stops serving breakfast at 10:00am on a Saturday? Toto, I guess we’re not in DC anymore. Being served a bellini with a caprese salad? Not really what I had envisioned. In addition, their lunch dishes were not super friendly to the Celiac crowd. Aside from two salads, everything else was loaded with bread. Next time i’m in Merchants Square, I’ll make it a point to find a place that serves brunch beyond sunrise.

MIXEDREVIEW I have been to this place many times and it is a favorite. The outdoor dining area is terrific and they have a great Bourbon selection at the indoor bar. The tile work inside the place is something to be seen. Recently I dined indoors for the first time and was somewhat disappointed. The menu is sparse and the food was really nothing special. I guess things taste better when you are outdoors. The service was nothing special and the noise level was off the charts. I was hoarse after a lengthy family meal, because you had to yell to speak. One member of our group was annoyed because she could barely hear or participate in table conversations. I am a fan, but just go inside to see the tile work and order a bourbon. Then go back outside and have your meal.

Was originally going to come to the Fat Canary across the street, but it was W & M’s graduation and they were completely booked, so I wandered into this establishment. At the outset, the decorations and ambience is lovely! The restaurant has a bright and airy feel and a general«cheeriness», I can’t really think of any other adjective to describe it. Service was prompt and our meals came out quite quickly. There is quite a selection of bread before your meal including scrumptious corn bread. The Salad was yummy and our main course(cheese tortellinis) was both a sizable portion and was quite tasty and filling. Was pleased that an upscale restaurant like this offered free drink refills on iced tea and soda.

My wife had the grilled cheese with bacon. It was toasted nicely but could have used a bit more cheese. She really enjoyed the slaw… creamy with a slight spicy mustard flavor. My BBQ duck sandwich was very tasty and well proportioned. Service was quick and friendly. Our only negative is we feel our meal was a bit overpriced for sandwiches.

First, I have to thank Chibi for a wonderful job of taking care of our table for dinner last night. Thank you so much. I had the double cut pork chop with mashed potatoes, baby carrots and string beans. It was delicious, cooked perfectly. Some family members had the tortellini and one had the filet Mignon. All empty dishes at the end. We also had the shrimp appetizer which was stuffed with fresh mozzarella and wrapped in pancetta with a spicy sauce. Delicious again. Thank you again Chibi.

Another great stop while in Williamsburg. I had a great plate of shrimp and grits and my guest enjoyed the massive burger. Our bartender and server were great! They were friendly, knowledgable and super fun. Not to mention, this was the best champagne pour I have ever had at a restaurant! Would recommend to anyone!

Several friends recommended that we eat here. We were near here around 2 so we decided on a late lunch. There were all kinds of empty tables both on the patio and the inside but we were quoted a 30 minute wait. So we waited and when we were called, requested a table outside. No was the response. How come, I asked. «We are not currently offering that as a seating option.» was the snotty reply. Hmmmm. We got a wndown seat and I ordered a soup and sandwich combo. Our food took quite a while to arrive but the soup, a shrimp bisque, was nice. It could have been hot but the flavor was good. The sandwich with it was on a baguette with various meats. It tasted bland, stale and cold. The bread and meats tasted like a prewrapped sandwich you’d pick up at a mini mart. To top off the meal, I ordered a scoop of burnt sugar ice cream. One scoop. It took 20 minutes to arrive. During our meal we saw multiple parties being seated at the patio. I guess we were too old and frumpy to be featured outside? I have never seen or experienced anything like it. Our server was perky and tried hard. The long awaited scoop of ice cream was tasty. I would never return. Mediocre food, long waits and odd refusal to seat us on the patio made for a pretty bizarre lunch.

Fat Canary did not have burgers tonight so I took a group to try the«famous burger» here. The atmosphere is great both inside and out. The burger was just okay and no one liked the house made ketchup. The service was slow but the place itself is really cool. Atmosphere is 5 stars, service is 1 star and food is 2 ½ stars.

Upon arrival, I decided to sit at the bar. Very attentive bar staff who recommended entrees, small dishes, and drinks. Ordered the Waygu Beef burger… sooo good with homemade ketchup and mayo. Came out fresh and hot incl. Fries that werent under a heater for hours. The Kentucky Apple will definitely have you set for the night as wel. Will be visiting to try other items on the menu.

The sandwich shop across the street was busy so we tried this place. The hostesses were very friendly and we were seated right away. Loved the décor! We got the turkey reuben and the roasted beef sandwiches and split them. I really liked the turkey reuben, balanced flavors and textures. The roasted beef sandwich was not my favorite. I didn’t care for the roasted peppers in it, added a weird taste. Would be better as a french dip! The water they serve in bottles is a nice look but it’s not good, you can still taste chlorine. It was nice going here during the week because on the weekend, it is very busy. I would come back for lunch again.

I have eaten here for lunch with a friend about 4 or 5 times. Dinner prices are much, much higher. I’ve always had soup or salad and it did not disappoint. Service was good, too.

What a place! Gorgeous decoration, beautiful bay windows, and great food. I went here with my mom for brunch, and having never seen duck hash on a menu before, had to try it. Incredible to say the least. The waiter was a little inattentive, which was strange only because there were only a few other tables filled. They had live music at the restaurant front, which made waiting to get seated a far more enjoyable experience than usual. Cherry on top of the experience: fantastic bathrooms.

My husband and I came for Sunday brunch today. The service was slow and the food was«eh». I ordered the omelette. That was subpar with little to no veggies and cheese and I question whether they used fresh cracked eggs. My husband ordered the French toast and it was good but no better than what you could make at home. The fruit topping was enough for just 2 or 3 bites. We also ordered Bloody Mary’s and they were ok too but not the best. The Trellis has been a let down since the chef left who made the cheesecake quiches. We will definitely return to our favorite Food for Thought just around the corner for the best brunch.

Delicious breakfast! Good selection, good service, great location by the farmer’s market on Saturdays, often near bands or other performers but quiet inside of want to avoid the outdoor performers or good view of choosing the outdoor seating. Went with two friends, got a variety of dishes — the French toast, the veggie omelet, and biscuits with eggs and sausage ala carte, all tasty and large portion sizes, better quality baked goods and jams than the farmer market items, way better than average, but prices very competitive. Recommended!

First bad review I’ve ever written… Loved the way the atmosphere looked, so my husband and I thought we’d give it a try. Went in and grabbed a seat at the bar(which wasn’t crowded). A waitress/bartender slid one drink menu in front of us and walked away without so much as a smile or a hello. We were ready to order drinks within a few minutes. The waitress/bartender walked passed us 5 or 6 times without even acknowledging us or making eye contact. We also would have liked a food menu and maybe some water??? We caught another waitress/bartender and placed our drink order. She nodded solemnly and took our one menu(which we would have liked to keep) and slid it in front of another couple(clearly short on menus) without a smile or greeting. Five minutes passed. No acknowledgement from either waitress/bartender. And no drinks being made. It was clear neither waitress/bartender wanted to be there. And that they could care less about customers. We left…

When we arrived there were a lot of seats open, so we were surprised to hear that there was a 20 minute wait. After the wait, we were seated outside and was able to enjoy the live music, which was a bassist and guitarist. The waitress was kind and attentive, but not as much as I would have wanted. I think they were very busy for their standards, but we had to wait to order a second drink and receive refills. We ordered the shrimp bisque, which was delicious, and if you happen to go there when they have it, I definitely recommend it. We also ordered the breakfast platter, which was so-so, thing special, but I was dissapointed that I did not get a biscuit, and instead got bread. Their yummy jams would have been much better on a biscuit. We also asked for oysters, but they were out for the weekend, and this was Sunday only at 1pm. We also ordered the stew, which was quite tasty.

Stopped in last Thursday for a late dinner with a friend. The décor inside is very interesting and it’s clean and well-maintained. They were fairly busy for around 8:45pm on a Thursday because it was move-in weekend at W&M. Still, it’s pretty large and we were promptly shown to a corner booth in the back near the kitchen. Our waitress greeted us without any warmth but seemed polite enough to start. She brought us water in a little jar they leave on the table so you can refill it yourself(I always like that) and we were brought some various breads to munch on. I ordered the scallop appetizer to start and we browsed the menu. The waitress returned shortly to tell us that we needed to decide because the kitchen was going to stop taking orders at 9pm and it was around 5 minutes to 9 by this point. She wasn’t very friendly and she seemed like she might even have been annoyed… We quickly decided. I ordered the salmon salad which sounded pretty good and my friend ordered the gnocchi’s without the duck fat. The food was out pretty quickly and the waitress again seemed annoyed with us when she came to drop it off. The salmon salad was very good with a large portion of salmon and a decent amount of greens. I didn’t try it but my friend said her gnocchi was delicious. For dessert we decided to split the parfait which we thought was light and yummy. I wanted to try some of their heavier fare but at this point it was pushing 9:30 or so — so I decided to be good. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great, and the service wasn’t horrible but it just wasn’t great either. I’d give it another chance… but I wasn’t overly impressed.

Was a little hesitant to eat here given the reviews but my friend was adamant we try the Death by Chocolate dessert his friends had raved about. Brad just got a New England Clam Chowder soup and I got the beef tenderloin with smashed red potatoes and mushrooms in Cabernet sauce. Oh. My. Gosh. This steak was perfection. Cooked perfectly, tasted like heaven in my mouth. I didn’t even add the mushrooms in with the steak because it was so delicious on its own. The potatoes and mushrooms were phenomenal. I just wanted to close my eyes and savor all of the tastes. Brad really liked the soup and he is a big New England Clam Chowder connoisseur. Per some of the other reviews we only got one Death by Chocolate to share, and they were so right. Even together we only finished about half — it was incredibly rich and decedent and fantastic! The prices are a bit extreme in my opinion but I guess I get it since it’s right on the edge of Colonial Williamsburg. Other than the prices, I enjoyed my meal and dessert immensely!

I came here with a friend this morning after walking around the Williamsburg Farmer’s Market. We saw that they serve breakfast from 8am to 10:30 am on Saturday’s morning specifically because of the Farmer’s Market. After seeing that they had slow roasted duck hash, my friend and I rushed in there. The hostess was super sweet and didn’t mind that we had walked in at 10:15 am, 15 minutes before they stopped serving breakfast. To be fair, we didn’t see the time they stopped serving breakfast, but we never would have noticed because of how kind our hostess was! Our waiter was a friendly guy who took our drink orders immediately and then came back promptly to take our order. I got the slow roast duck hash. It took maybe 10 minutes to come out, not too long of a wait, especially since it was past 10:30 at this point. The duck hash said it came with toast, but it wasn’t on my plate nor did it come separately. That’s when I realized it was underneath all the duck and the sauce. I didn’t care too much for it, seeing as how the bread got soggy, and I had to eat it with a knife and fork. When they say hash, I assumed it would be on top of potatoes or mixed with potatoes(although there were potatoes, just scattered on the perimeter of the duck and toast). The duck was tender and cooked well, but it was salty. I was disappointed that they ruined a well roasted duck by over salting it. I believe they had some sort of staff meeting from 10:30 — 10:45am, because there was no one to be found. I tried to get some ketchup for my friend; I even walked around the restaurant for a little, trying to find our waiter. I tried to get the attention of the other waitress serving another table as she walked by, she looked a little pissed and was actually a little curt. Sorry for needing ketchup? I’m glad she wasn’t our waitress. Food was okay. I want to come back to try their Death By Chocolate dessert, but other than that, nothing seemed too outstanding.
