I came here again to eat some oxtail roti and I was still debating which place I liked better… island quizine or tashes and I think tashes hands down is better in regards to the oxtail. It’s just something about that gravy so thick and delicious. Also the oxtail is so soft.

Deserving of a rare 5 star rating because it satisfied my curry goat craving to the T. I loved the flavor– the spice profile of the curry was great, the goat itself was tender and fall off the bone but even greater, not a whole bunch of fat. Enough that you got good flavor, but not enough to where your pulling chunks out of your mouth. I’ve had goat n oxtail where at the end of your plate, you realize half the bulk of meat was fat. Eh. Not the case at all here, thank you. The rice and peas were flavored well n cooked perfectly. I actually ate them all and I never eat em. The plantains were MOIST and sweet. And unlike other jamaican establishments in the area, the food was ready immediately. I was prepared for a wait, especially as there was a line, but the food turnover is quick! Yess!!!

My boyfriend has a stepfather who is Jamaican so he is always searching for good Jamaican food! We tried this place for the first time tonight. It was really excellent! I got the jerk shrimp which was the perfect amount of spicy. It came with rice, fried plantain and cabbage which was all delicious. My boyfriend got the oxtail and loved it. Also they have fresh pineapple ginger juice which was really good! Since it was our first time they gave us complimentary juice and little samples of salmon, meat and pasta!

Great Caribbean food in the Milford Mill area. I have stopped by here a could of times and the food is usually on point though sometimes they have their bad moments I guess it depends on who is in the Kitchen on and given day. My go too is the jerk chicken with rice and fried plantains. The jerk seasoning i spicy but not overwhelming. They usually give you a good sized portion but at times I have gotten a lot of bones in mine. I love the fried plantains but a few times I have gotten them they have been over cooked. I will continue coming here and need to branch out and try a few new items.

Excellent food but they lose points for undercooked oxtails, more often than not. That’s a bummer because it’s my favourite, just not at this location. Everything else I’ve no complaints. Generous portions as well.

Totally mediocre and it’s my last time going there period. I visited there in the past and again today and I’ve never really been blown away but it was a matter of convenience. BUT that’s it… no more for me!!! My brown stew chicken was hard chicken aka old chicken in a brown stew sauce. I was so hungry I chewed the juice out and spit out the chicken… all while smh. Good bye and good riddance!!!

Normally their food is mediocre I like their breakfast more than their lunch and dinner choices but tonight I was craving some curry chicken and they were the only ones open the food was so salty it choked me I couldn’t even eat it im extremely disappointed. They have been open too many years to make mistakes as huge is this perhaps they have changed cooks again which is a concern for me I will be calling them tomorrow to let them know the food is inedible!

This is actually my second visit, and I’m just as impressed as I was the first time. I have had the Mac n cheese, jerk chicken, oxtails, curry goat, and their cabbage and carrots has this really good buttery taste and steamed perfectly. I really will make this one of my favs!!!

I visited Tashes Ankh several years ago and I was not impressed. Today I decided to give them another chance. I ordered vegan citrus ribs which came with rice and peas, and veggies. I also ordered a small mac and cheese. When I walked into the establishment I was not greeted, instead I was given funky looks as in why am I there. The others in the back were arguing about food. I placed my order and was told it would be a 20 minute wait since the ribs were made to order. I was excited and could not wait to try these out. The ribs were nothing special matter fact they tasted like vegetarian plus citrus ribs that are sold at wholefoods. I will say they added their own twist to the ribs by adding veggies and potatoes. The rice and peas were bland and dry, mixed veggies with cabbage were bland also, and the mac and cheese was creamy a little on the salty side but it was ok. This caused me to give two stars instead of one. The second star is for the large portions. I wasted about $ 16 bucks on this nasty platter. So in short I will never return.

I’ve been eating Jamaican food from Tashes for over two years. My co-worker and I will often travel many miles from Washington Blvd to get authentic Carribean meals from Tashes. I always prefer the curried goat, cow foot, jerk chicken, and stewed brown gravy. The flavor, spices and texture of these meals never change and always has my mouth watering for lunch or dinner. Unfortunately i have tried the ox-tails a number of times and find them cooked too tough. I will continue to purchase my Jamaican meals from Tashes; but not the ox-tails.

As a West Indian food connoisseur, this is the BEST of its kind in all of BALTIMORE! Rice never dry. Not too salty. Full Vegan/ital menu. The cucumber juice is top notch. The Mac & cheese goes quickly so get there early in the day. The kitchen staff tends to be friendlier than the cashiers but the food is completely worth a bad attitude every now and again.

Kind of a little bit of a hole in the wall — but WAY good. I had the vegetable pattie, rice and peas(beans), fruit punch and some potato pie thing with rum(?). The rice and beans were so awesome, and they add sauce on top — whatever you want. I had the chicken curry sauce added — amazing. The vegetable pie was great and the fruit punch was made fresh from real juice — SOGOOD. The only thing I can say bad is that the potato pie was not great, it was kinda bland and weird. Also tried the maccaroni and cheese and it is MMMMMM. I love that they have a great selection of freshly made juices — major points for that. They also had a great dessert selection from what I could tell, just didn’t like the potato pie much. The staff is great too.

I like this place. I only order food that is not spicy, which is not much! I stick to the red beans and rice, brown stewed chicken, oxtail, and curry goat. The Jerk chicken is too spicy for me. The beef patty’s are good if they are fresh! If you are looking for good Jamaican food this is the place to go! If you like spice… it’s spicy! If you like mild… there is something there for you too. The Rum cake was not good at all, not sure what it taste like I can’t describe it… just nasty! But stay away from that and you will be pleased! On the flip side, all of their drinks have ginger in it and to my surprise, I like the Carrot juice! I like mostly all of their drinks!

Disappointed. My wife and I went in for the first time tonight, we ordered the oxtail, jerk chicken, beef patty and a bread pudding. As you can tell by the Jamaican flag in the window, on the workers shirts and by the food we ordered, this Caribbean joint is pretty much a Jamaican joint, which is fine. The oxtail and the chicken were both very good, the chicken had a nice thick coating of spices that wasn’t mild, but not hot either. The oxtail had a nice gravy like red sauce. The beef patty looked and tasted store bought, a major bummer. The bread pudding was a step above terrible, but only just. Both our meals came with red beans and rice that was almost all rice. There were 4 or 5 little plantain pieces that were fully cooked but soft after sitting on the hot beans and rice(the problems with take-away food). There was also a side of bland boiled cabbage. Great mains, below average sides and a bad dessert.

Aloha This is just an update for Tashes Ankh. They have been there for awhile now. I have afro hair, esp down the beach. I was surfing and camping on Assateague one LONG weekend. I was sleeping in the back of my jeep because i had lent out my Tent to a buddy. No big deal, i had a nice sleeping bag and a bug net for my face. I met these crazy Hippies 2 nights into my «trip». One girl was hot, and she said she loved watching me surf. Anyway, i joined in on the group that night, and they all wanted to braid or dread lock my hair. I’m a male nurse, so i have sexual discrimination on my side 100%, so i said«Whatever». So, they dread locked it with all this crazy stuff and wax. And that was that. I either kept it, or shaved my head to get rid of them. I kept them maybe 2 months, and then they got all frizzy and gnarly looking, so i shaved my head. Anyway, i was starving on my way back from the surfing trip, and ordered Cow Foot Soup and Curried Goat from Tashes Ankh. I walked in. I already loved the female owner. She saw my dreads and went nuts !! Gave me all these left overs(mac n cheese, plantains, breadfruit, a whole tilapia, etc) And all the cooks know me by now because at Xmas i usually buy them all a few cases of Red Stripe. This place has the best food ever. Take a step out of TGIF and the fucking Cheesecake Factory 23 page menu and try some real food that real people eat, that is 100% delicious PLEASE !!! Cheesecake Factory? Don’t get me started on chains Just try this place XOXO Blake

I was craving some veggie patties yesterday, so my sis and I scoured the internet for a Jamaican spot that is open on Sunday. Lo and behold, we found Tashes, a 20 minute drive from our homes. We ordered the veggie citrus ribs, veggies patties, chicken curry and sides ahead of time. We left 10 minutes after ordering and our food was hot and ready by the time we arrived. I even added a rum cake. Omg my citrus ribs were great. Perfectly seasoned. I was so scared to find out my entrée wasn’t tofu. My sis enjoyed her food. Our sides were perfect. The rum cake however was just not good. I was hoping for a rum cake similar to one Ii had in the Bahamas and this was just nasty. Overall, I am a fan Tashes is decently prices with good portion sizes. I will go back for the delicious veggies entrees, just not the cake.
