Steakshop Catering and Food Service

I was disappointed to say the least. We were planning our wedding, a very small wedding for 4 months down the road. We had asked about different options and if we could try it before we made a final decision, they said they would call us back within a week to set something up. We waited 2 weeks to give them time figuring they may have been busy with it being mid-​May to June. We played phone tag for almost a month before we finally got thru to someone who told us they would pass on the message and we would get a call back. This then continued to happen with not getting a call back. Now normally I would have switched to another caterer, but by mid-​July everything was booked solid. We finally got a call back a week or two into August our Wedding to be in September and were told «I am sorry but we will not be able to cater your wedding.» No, we hadn’t signed a contract at that point but we had explicitly told them at the first meeting that we had several other options that weren’t going to work out, and that we had planned to work with them. We just wanted to see what the food would be like before signing the contract. After having to argue with them over the phone a month before the wedding they finally agreed to make the food and deliver it. Which was all we needed in the first place. I gave explicit orders as to how we wanted the steaks cooked before delivery, what type of potatoes we wanted, and what vegetables, salad and other accompaniments we would like. The night of our wedding the food was delivered cold, the steaks were rare (not bad for everyone but we had some who wanted a more medium/​well and I had asked for them all to be cooked to a medium/​well before being delivered), the potatoes were wrong, we never got the crackers to go with our cheese and sausage tray. Overall, it was a horrible experience and I would absolutely not recommend them, nor would I go back to them. I know I wont get a refund, the meal was eaten (choked down) and it’s not worth the time playing phone tag with them just to argue more. Thankfully our 14 guests, were immediately family and close friends and were all very understanding. Though I am sure on their way home they all stopped to eat some place else.
