I have been here 3 times when in the winter park area. I have only ordered the lunch special(gyro, fries and drink). The gyro was so tasty and huge too. Very fresh and the fries were hot, crispy and non greasy. The gentleman that runs the place has always welcomed me with a smile so it is unfortunate other reviewers have not had the same experience. I cant judge the other items on the menu since I have not eaten anything else. The lunch special is a great deal of delicious food and a lot of it.

Recently I went to House of Kabob for the second time with a certificate and it was terrible. We were the only table there and the gentleman taking orders, cooking, and serving was kind of rough around the edges. Right after we ordered a couple came in and ordered take away; their two meals were prepared and ready before ours. I was unpleased, to say the least. We waited ages and heard a lot of microwave beeps and door slamming. The pita bread was not soft and the falafel had a chemical after taste. So not only did the service stink, but the food was far from acceptable.

I’m giving this place a 5 because I felt the quality of ether food was excellent, non processed, compared to most restaurants! The food tasted home cooked. I really enjoyed sitting down in a friendly, less commercial atmosphere.

I ran in there to get a quick meal to go. I got the beef kabob which was really good but I was surprised by how much it cost at $ 8.47(without a drink or anything else).

We ate here recently and I enjoyed it. Worth a try, the kebabs were delicious. Food we tried: Baba ghanoush: flavorful, texture agreeable Hummus: thick texture, delicious flavor… I added more of it to the pita — it was that good. Pita: good. Not the best pita I’ve had but it was served warm and it was soft but sturdy. Tabbouleh: yum! It was the most liquidy tabbouleh I’ve had, a bit messy to eat, but so good and flavorful. It tasted like additional spices were added, in just the right amount. Stuffed grape leaves:(side dish) I don’t think they had any meat. Seemed like just rice. But they were pretty standard. Not bad. «Persian» brewed tea: uhh, couldn’t taste any difference between this and black tea. The cup it was in was chipped… Rice: so good. Seems like plain white rice yet something about it is rich with flavor. Some kind of addictive Mediterranean spice mixture was on top… mmm. Wish I knew how to duplicate this at home. Kabobs:(beef and lamb) yum! Meat was tender and bursting with flavor. Fresh veggies(zucchini, red bell pepper, summer squash, onion) were roasted/grilled to perfection. These made me really appreciate kebabs more in general. Overall, it’s worth trying at least once. We went on a slow night and were the only table being served, so maybe that made our experience better than some others’.

I found the food to be quite tasty. I loved the hummus, chicken, and the beef kabob. We got a coupon on off of which saved us $$. The owner was there and he was very friendly, yet not invasive. The food is rather expensive without the coupon and for the portion size you get, but that is probably because the rent is so high for that location and because the food is made with fresh ingredients and tastes like it was just cooked and not microwaved. Will definitely be going to back here again…

We had lunch here yesterday; take-out. Service was crabby. The meal was okay, at least until we noticed the RAWCHICKEN in our kabob sandwich. It did not make for a very pleasant afternoon. We will never return and will try to help spread the word – do not try House of Kabob!

I would not recommend House of Kabob. I will not be returning. We weren’t given a very friendly reception, even though no one else was in the place! Once we selected our meals, we did not receive what we ordered, because there are two menu items called«chicken kabob platter», so be sure to specify which one you want. The hummus was good. I enjoyed that. But the chicken wasn’t that flavorful(dry). Also, I cannot be 100% sure, but I belive I saw him drop a piece of meat on the floor and then pick it up and put it on a plate. GROSS! Also, I am an environmentalist at heart, so when I asked for a glass of water(not a bottle) and he said, «just take a bottle» and I said«no, I just want tap water please» and we went round and round about this… I was pretty turned off. I ended up with one glass of luke warm tap water. Not impressive. Just plain rude. I will be true to Annie’s Café and stick to their incredible kabobs!!!

I’ve been here 2 times… the first time was about 2 years ago… perhaps enough time to forget what I thought of it then. This 2nd, more recent time has me thinking there won’t be a third. I got the shish-kabob platter with 2 sides(you can pick from a few choices). Quite simply, the food was«bleh». The joint is tiny, and had just one person working. Aside from my table, he had only 2 other tables to cover, but that included taking orders and preparing all the food himself. I sensed he was a little overwhelmed. I also got the sense this wasn’t the most sanitary place to eat either. Maybe I was there on an off day for the poor guy working alone, but I won’t be back.

Hmm. I have to wonder if they have stepped up the quality here from earlier reviews. My husband and I drive by this place all the time and always say«we need to give it a try» and we finally did today. I was not disappointed. We had the beef kabobs which were traditional juicy kefta style kabobs, some very flavorful rice with a spice sprinkled on top that I just couldn’t put my finger on but it was tasty, grilled tomato, hummus(which I usually don’t like much, but enjoyed) and one of the best babaganoushes I’ve had. He topped those with fresh olive oil and paprika. Perfect touch. I watched him slice all the veggies for my salad and he even asked if I wanted onions before putting them on. His dressing was a perfect balance of oil to vinegar. The simplest things sometimes really are the best. After the meal he asked if we wanted to try the baklava and though we were stuffed, I couldn’t resist. It was fresh and light. Not too bread crumby, PISTACHIOS and just enough honey. Yes, I emphasize pistachios cause not everyone puts those in their baklava and they darn well should. I left very full but not feeling sick and the owner was very friendly. I also have to mention that his kitchen was immaculately clean as was his store. I will definitely come back, and if you haven’t tried it, give it a shot.

I just finished eating at House of Kabob and was very impressed. The place is very small and kind of inset in the plaza but it is totally worth it! The food was quick and tasty, and the owner really is very nice and conversational. Give it a try!

A nice place to get a kabob or a gyro. It is a really small facility but the folks there are really nice. they have some outside tables that made dining more enjoyable than the cramped inside.

From the outsid, e House of Kabob is a bit questionable, but once you’ve tasted their food you’ll be sold on this place and the size won’t matter anymore. Middle Eastern cuisine is the specialty of this tiny restaurant and they do an excellent job in all of their dishes. As the name implies, kabobs are a staple and comprise most of the menu options. Lamb, chicken and beef are your choices, but it doesn’t really matter which one you choose because they are all very tasty. If you order a platter, you get to choose two side dishes and your options usually include hummus, grape leaves, baba ganoush, tabouli, salad, saffron rice and other items that rotate over time. Their hummus is perfect and goes very well with the pita bread served alongside most meals and also acts as a great dip for the meat. The tabouli and rice are also good options. If you’re more of a sandwich person, they do have gryos which is basically a kabob(without the stick of course) served in a warm pita accompanied with lettuce, tomato and tzatziki sauce(a yogurt, cucumber dill blend). For dessert I would recommend the bakalava. While it’s not the best I’ve ever had, it is not the worst either and is a good sweet ending to a meal. If you’re an adventurous person they also serve some Greek/Middle Eastern drinks that I’ve been told are good but haven’t been bold enough to try. Or if you’d prefer beer or wine they have that too. The owner is a sweetheart and very nice. He’s almost always present helping his staff in any way that he can. The only downside I can think of is that this place is VERY small, with only 3 tables to sit at on the inside and about 3 on the outside. I would recommend getting your food to go and sitting some place in nearby park if you have the time.

Tucked away in a little strip mall on Fairbanks lies the tiny House of Kabob. Don’t blink-you might miss it… although, that may not be such a bad thing. Hubs and I split a platter with grilled chicken, some other meat, a grilled tomato, 2 grilled red pepper strips & halfway decent rice for $ 15.00. We added bland tzatziki sauce and nasty, dried out pita bread for $ 4.95. I was seriously disappointed-especially later that evening, when I was experiencing the after-effects of that other meat. Go to Hovan at the mall instead, save that 15 bucks, and your ass.

On a recent trip to the DC area, I discovered a charming little kabob place run by Afghanis. For $ 10 my boyfriend and I shared a meal of authentic chicken and beef kabob, with a big piece of pita bread and a good size portion of basmati rice. Hoping to recreate the experience, we dropped by the House of Kabob. The owner was very friendly and personable, and the store was bright and cheerful. However, for $ 20+ we each got a chicken kabob, with«pita bread» and rice. The food was mall quality for twice the price. The«pita bread» looked like it was bought at Publix, and consisted of thin flavorless triangles. The chicken was dry, and the entire meal was extremely bland and flavorless. I would go here again if the price matched the quality of the food, but unfortunately it does not. I plan to try another establishment next time I’m craving kabob, and I suggest you do the same.

This is a great change of pace from the usual. I can only recommend the beef and chicken kabobs since that’s all I’ve had so far. They have seafood kabobs as well but they get pricey. The beef or chicken combos will set you back about $ 8 each, without a drink. But their so delicious and their hummus is fantastic. It’s hard to see the place from the road but it’s just down the street from Park Ave and Aloma on the left in the same plaza as that flatbread company place thing whatever.
