Wanted to get a pizza so I can work away through the night. Called in, the guy asked me to hold, I’m fine with that. Except, seconds later, he hung up on me. I could hear him taking orders from another person, but still, you should NOT ever hang up on a customer. I called in again a few more times, waiting about 5 – 10 minutes before each new call, and nobody picks up. I’m new to this area too, and this is the closest pizza joint around. I guess I’ll buy more frozen pizzas from grocery stores, since I don’t think I’ll buy from here if they can’t do proper customer service.

Order delivery from here often because of how close it is to me. good basic pizza food, always hot when you get it. only gave it 3 stars because 9 times out of 10 they mess up orders or forget something.

I was a loyal Golden customer for 7 years. I always order the exact same specialty calzone. This place changed hands not too long ago, and the quality and consistency has taken a nosedive. Very hit-or-miss, and the staff turns over so quickly that there’s no hope of anyone remembering my custom order(the head cook under the old owners, Benny, knew it by heart, wish I knew where he was now!) They keep your phone number in their database so that it automatically pulls up your address. but now I am always a stranger when I call in for delivery. Over 7 years there are bound to be some mistakes, but while the previous owner was congenial and quick to credit on the rare occasion I asked, the current owner, «Tony», is the polar opposite. Imagine every cliché about tight-fisted, chauvinistic pizza joint owners, and you have a starting point for getting to know Tony. The other night my boyfriend and I called in for delivery, my custom calzone and a sub. I have empathy for the hard working immigrants who staff the place, but having to repeat my order at least 3 times has gotten really old. I’m sure these guys are overworked and underpaid, and this reflects in the overall service. Our food arrived an hour later, cold, and the frazzled delivery man kept trying to get me to sign a credit card slip that wasn’t mine. I was paying cash. I made a mental note to never again use my credit card there, and calmly pointed out the discrepancy in the total on the credit slip vs. the hand written slip. I usually check my order while the delivery guy is still there, but due to the circumstances, I didn’t get a chance till after he left. Sure enough, my «calzone» was a pizza with the wrong ingredients. At first I thought maybe they mixed up my order with the credit card people, but when I called I got the same guy, who was very friendly but obviously struggling with learning English. So I slowly told him the correct order 3 times again. 40 minutes later my calzone arrived. minus 3 of the 6 ingredients! I called a 3rd time, and spoke with Anna, who to my relief clearly understood what I was saying. I kept the conversation light and friendly, and requested either my $ back, or a credit that they could keep on file for next time. Anna probably would’ve been happy to do that, but it had to be cleared with the owner first. After waiting on hold for a few minutes, she apologetically said he was too busy to talk to me, and then said it would be easiest FORTHEM to try a 3rd time. I told her I’d already eaten half of my boyfriend’s sub, as well as a piece of each of my incorrect deliveries and was no longer hungry, but I ended up caving, mainly because I could hear a man who I assumed to be the owner shouting in the background and just wanted to be done with this frustrating experience. Another 45 minutes passed, and the delivery guy showed up for the 3rd time(I tipped him each time bc I was guessing he wasn’t getting anything extra from the owner, and it wasn’t his fault). Finally, almost 3 hours since my initial order, my correct calzone arrived. only to sit untouched and be thrown out the next day. Tonight when I called in to order, Anna answered the phone. She remembered the mix-up and apologized. I politely asked if I could get a credit for the calzone considering the circumstances(I had paid for the first order, around $ 15 for the non-calzone, and offered to give the incorrect orders back at the time). When she put down the phone to talk to the owner, I heard the same angry-sounding man shouting in the background about me «costing him enough money» already. He then picked up the phone and before I could say a word shouted at me «Hey, you the girl I give 3 free calzones to already?! Hey sweetheart, I got news for you, I don’t need your business!» I was shocked and totally taken aback. I asked him his name. He yelled«Tony!». I then asked him if we could please discuss this calmly, as I was a long-time customer. Tony’s response? The line went dead. So apparently Tony would rather lose a customer than make even a token effort to appease an unsatisfied patron. And I now think I have a pretty good idea as to why the staff turns over so quickly! I took a deep breath, and called Road Runner Pizza on Hamilton St. The man who answered was friendly, and not once did he call me «sweetheart». The correct food arrived in the specified timeframe. We all have enough stress in our lives, ordering pizza shouldn’t cause more stress! So I’m done giving my $ to Tony’s Golden Pizza on Grafton St, and that means I’ve eaten my last«special» calzone. But Road Runner now carries falafel, a personal favorite of mine, so I think I’ll cope just fine, and enjoy knowing the only man to call me «sweetheart» will be my boyfriend, not some miserable man clearly overdue for an anger-management class!

Called in the other night to place an order at 7:30 got the«Golden Pizza can you hold please.». Sure I hear him in the background taking an order and finish with that customer just as the phone rings again and he says the same to them that he said to me. I continue on hold and finally gets on the phone with me and giving him my information and he can not hear me/understand me(I am a clear speaking english native). I try to give him the first item of my order and after multiple clarifications I get hung up on. Awesome way to do business, I used to know the owner quite well from the Shrewsbury location. With any luck he has since sold it because this is no way to run a business.

As much as I love their food, their customer service is horrible! They dont even delivery 3.5 miles away(shaking my head). As a person who works for the state overnight, all I wanted was to get some food to get me through the night and I called 3 locations and not ONE of them could deliver to me. I’ll stick to ordering from Chandler St. They are much more pleasant and they work with you.

Food is alright. Not what I remember when I lived here 12 years ago. Make sure you pick up the food otherwise you will wait at least an hour to get your food. They will always tell you the driver just left. My family was in the pizza biz when I was young and food never took more than 30 – 40 mins to get delivered from start to finish. That’s even when it’s busy as all hell… Really dissapointed

Worst food I have ever had in my life! No joke. Disgusting. Only reason this place stays in business is because they get the drunks/stoners ordering from them in the middle of the night. If it weren’t for their hours, they would go down the drain. Never experienced a pizza place so incapable of making decent pizza!

I LOVED the sister store on Chandler St. when I was in college, especially their cheeseburger sub and pastrami pizza. So you can imagine how psyched I was to move back to Worcester ten years later and find that this one was in my new neighborhood! Over the years, however, something has changed; the dozen or so times we ordered was hit-or-miss, and more often than not, we found the pizza too greasy and the bacon on the subs too fatty/soggy. The family recommended I indulge my pastrami pizza passion whenever they went away for the day, but I found myself no longer wanting to; it was too greasy even for me, and I haven’t gone back. (On a more serious note, I would advise against using a credit card. Several times we saw that they wrote out the entire number and expiration date right on the delivery slip; no business should be so careless with customers’ financial data.)

Golden Pizza on Grafton Street is a small busy shop by the corner of a intersection. Great place to get food! My party ordered the super steak and cheese sub and the steak quesadilla. The steak and cheese sub was average. Nothing special. HOWEVER the steak quesadilla was amazing. I never order quesadillas but I will now. The quesadilla was fresh from the kitchen and everything went together. The sour cream to the steak was top notch. Great meal for 8.99 and it could fill more than two people. I’ll be back.
