Leo’s Ristorante

My wife’s Scrod with Marinara and salad was excellent. Fresh fish, not over cooked, marinara sauce was thick with a good strong tomato flavor. A large portion of fish, 8 or 10 oz –guessing. Salad was fresh, had cukes, red onion, shredded carrot, celery, + other salad veg, crisp lettuce, medium large portion — we shared. Terrific.
I had the «Seafood Angelina: Lobster, shrimp, scallops, mushrooms & red peppers over linguine».
The scallops were good. The shrimp were a bit dry, but good sized –extra large or jumbo. There was no lobster meat at all. None. Zip. Nada.
The waitress said that (the very numerous ¼″ to ½″ circular seafood tidbit) is «crustacean». She said another customer had asked about the“lobster” and these fish particles. The kitchen told her then the seafood tidbits are «crustacean». Wikipedia says there are 67,000 ‘described species’ of crustacean. The crustaceans in my Seafood Angelina were circular/​curled, very small (less than ½, usually a ¼″), over cooked, had no flavor, a consistency like wet cardboard and were as far from real lobster meat as Paul Ryan is from Hillary Clinton.
Was this a situation of intentional bait and switch?
We think so. Lobster is the first word in the menu’s description of Seafood Angelina ingredients. The waitress knew it was not real lobster meat from a conversation with ‘the kitchen’ she had previous to our dinner. She never said to us «that dish you are ordering has crustacean and not typical lobster meat.» Nor does the menu inform the customer of the crustacean meat replacing lobster meat. She didn’t inform us when she served the dish. So lobster is prominently advertised but it’s absence was never communicated to the customer. Just an oversight? No. It feels intentional to us.
The mushrooms were out of a can. The taste, size-​shape, and consistency were so so far from fresh. There were real red peppers. A goodly number.
There was a fluid in the bottom of the dish. It was ok. Nothing special. I wouldn’t call it a sauce.
The bed of pasta was ok.
The waitress came back to us after the order was sent in to say she had some bad news. The sausage soup I ordered off their menu (under Today’s Specials) was not available in summer. She didn’t know and just found out. It seems then the menu hadn’t got the memo either. Ooooops.
Internet pricing VS reality pricing
Ooooops. The numbers changed. $ 19.95 on the Restaurant’s internet web page (
) became $ 23.95 on the menu at the restaurant. That was for the Seafood Angelina. Similarly the scrod. $ 16.95 online becomes $ 20.95 at checkout.
Maybe some evil virus did it.
Service
Our server was nice, pleasant, and sweet.
But. My water glass, quite small, went un-​refilled for most of the meal, till we asked for more. The salad dressing on the side wasn’t on the side till we asked. She didn’t ask for my wine order till we asked despite the wine list lying open on the table with my reading glasses for 20′ while we had salad and bread which was slow to arrive.
She did get the coffee and check promptly.
I think she needs training and experience.
Would I return or recommend? Probably no

Arrived at the restaurant for our 8pm reservation … Waited & waited & waited for our food! As they deliver food to the table beside us (they came in at least a half an hour after us) the waitress says yours is up next! REALLY??? We had an event we had to get the kids to by 10pm so we started expressing our concern to the waitress. The manager’s reasoning was … all the parties came in at the same time. Obviously this restaurant can’t manage the customer to staff ratio. So by 9:20pm when the food finally STARTED to come out we said we have no time to eat it now! We were going to wait for them to box it all up but we had to flag them down again to try and get the bill! At this point we told them we NEED to leave … keep the dam food!!! What was suppose to be a fun HS Graduation Night turned into a huge disappointment! Myself and the 7 other people in our party will never walk into Leo’s again! #terribleserviceatLeos

Recently, we went to a rehearsal dinner. The food was served family style. Our favorite was the eggplant parmigiano which was far superior to the overcooked chicken parm. The other choices on table were tasty meatballs over pasta and sausage with peppers. They were very good. An excellent place for the event.

The food was okay. The waitresses are awful, and disrepecful. They stare at customers and talk about them. They’re also snobby (specially the ones who wear makeup) they think they’re some kind of models or some crap. They treated me and my girlfriend like we have done something bad to them. Never going back.

Saturday night, ordered steamed mussels white wine sauce as an appetizer. Pretty much terrible at best. Sauce had zero flavor and mussels were just not good. Nothing could save these poor souls :(for entrees we ordered scallop scampi and seafood risotto… Let’s start with scallop scampi: watery, no flavor. Tried salting, added nothing. Scallops were bland and over cooked. Risotto: flavor potential was there it was the highlight of an awful dinner. To say the service was fair may be an exaggeration. We did sit at the bar and were the first ones seated right before 7 o’clock. The bartender was not attentive or friendly at all. I’ve eaten at Leo’s and really wanted to enjoy our date night, but this was just poor and inexcusable. What the heck a going on? Merlot was good and the Bathroom was clean so it’s 2 stars rather than 1.

Great place! The food is always good. Nice atmosphere.

A Worcester institution, but I hadn’t been here in years.
Came with a friend on a slow Tuesday night; coming in through the awkward side door revealed a handful of regulars huddled up to the dark bar.
Seat yourself in the siding room, which seems a little odd in an old-​fashioned place like this, but we were greeted quickly by a perky and pleasant young waitress.
No Campari to be had (no negroni? Scandalous!) but a good martini was an acceptable substitute.
Warm rolls with olive oil and butter were brought out quickly.
Crab cakes were nicely crispy, though very bready. What crabmeat there was tasted sweet and fresh. The accompanying pink sauce added moisture but not flavor.
Salads, both Caesar and house, were decently fresh, but swimming in dressing.
The pasta Tuscany was as delicious as I remembered– sausage and prosciutto in a garlicky tomato cream with a splash of brandy. Served tossed with penne (I think it used to be farfalle?), delicious, and got better with every bite.
My friend’s pasta with chicken and Gorgonzola was satisfying as well.
We were too full for tiramisu or cannoli or crème brûlée.
Nothing earth-​shaking or inventive here, but I’ll be back… A little more attention to the details will restore this to forgotten gem status.
And get a bottle of Campari!

Nothing wrong with the place, and nice atmosphere, but I wasn’t that impressed with the food.

A friend and I went here on a Monday at approximately 5:30pm. The unassuming neon sign pointing you down Leo Turo Way does not do this establishment justice.
It is intimately lit, with beautiful brick and décor as well as a fire place. We sat ourselves and there was one other party present. I ordered the pasta Tuscany and she ordered the eggplant parmesan. We also got a caesar salad and garlic bread with the meal to split.
They began the meal with warm bread and oil, as well as water. Our food was ready quickly and portions were impressive, especially since typically when a place looks as fancy as Leo’s you don’t expect to leave as full as we did.
The food was all spectacular, I’ve had a lot of garlic bread in my life and I can safely say Leo’s is the best I’ve ever had. The caesar salad was also phenomenal and the dressing was very creamy. Our pasta dishes were both excellent and we both left raving to one another about how good the food was. We subsequently recommended Leo’s to no less than four of our friends within moments of returning.
I would 100% return and will continue to recommend this restaurant /​ristorante to people. The wait staff was also friendly and attentive, frequently refilling drinks and just generally being exceptional.

Where do I start, yum yum yum.
We started with the spinach salad which was just perfect, fresh spinach, caramelized walnuts, cheese and cherry tomatoes and onions. Warm bread and olive oil with Parmesan was more than just a starter.
I went with the stuffed backed lobster, and it was a feast. Cooked to perfection with amazing taste and texture. It was huge that I was only able to eat a half of it.
Staff are amazing and very friendly. And the place is very nice.

Very good Classic Italian restaurant… eggplant rollatini was outstanding… simply put

First the reviews for the most part on the money. Had attended the restaurant for dinner once for dinner and thought it was just alright. Ambiance is the plus to this retaurant. Recently attended a charity event in the upstairs area was disappointed to see how unorganized the restaurant was. Drinks were overpriced ridiculously or we just got ripped off. I have to say felt terrible for the one and only girl that was taking care of about 200 plus people all on her own with having to run from bussing to making sure she had buffet area taken care of. I felt so bad I wanted to help her and I did by cleaning my own table. It’s time for this restaurant to start reading it’s reviews and waking up or more people will be checking this one off their list.

I went to a luncheon in the function room today and I had the best Italian food I have had in years. The eggplant parmesan and broccoli/​ziti/​chicken was also incredible full of chicken and tasty light sauce.

Although we are here at Leo’s for a mercy meal (sad day) the food was excellent. It reminds me to come back on Wed for the. 2 for 1 special at the bar /​lounge

The atmosphere was nice. I appreciate that they were able to accommodate 14 of us. However, the food was mediocre. The calamari was kind of greasy. I ordered the fruits de mare. I know its a seafood dish but it tasted extra fishy. Different than other places. My husband ordered the baked salmon. It was completely raw in the middle. They took it off the bill without a problem and offered another but my husband just ate some of my meal. The service was good. No problems with the waitress. Only 3 beers on tap. Not much of a selection. Probably won’t return.

So my fiancé and I just had dinner at this place and honestly I was not impressed at all. The only reason they are getting a star is because of the waitresses and the ambiance of the place.
Let’s start with the appetizers. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and the grilled romaine salad. The stuffing in the mushrooms had barely any flavor and were very soggy. The salad was actually not as bad and was probably the best thing we ate there.
Now on to our main course. My fiancé ordered the seafood fra diavlo (mussels, squid and clams sautéed in a spicy marinara sauce over linguine.) I got the veal saltimbocca (sautéed with white wine demi glaze Proscuitto, mushrooms and Mozzarella cheese.)
Let’s start with the seafood fra diavlo. Before the plate even reached our table we could tell the sauce was way watered down. Besides the lake on the plate everything looked pretty good, but looks can be deceiving. The squid was over cooked and was like chewing on rubber bands. Now the description said that everything is sautéed in a «SPICY» marinara sauce. There was nothing spicy about it. There was absolutely no seasoning at all in the whole dish. My fiancé probably ate not even a quarter of the dish.
Now when my dish came out it too looked very watery, but I gave it a chance. First bite I took had no flavor what so ever. So then I try some of the veal. Again, no seasoning. Every bite I took tasted more and more bland. I had to add so much salt and pepper to make this dish somewhat edible. I ate the whole dish, but that’s just how my mother raised me, to never waste food.
So now it’s time for dessert. We ordered the brownie sundae and a cannoli. The cannoli was a regular plain cannoli with a tiny bit of powdered sugar on top. I was very sad biting into it. I felt as if I could get a better one from a gas station if gas stations sold cannolis. The brownie sundae was just as depressing to eat. The brownie tasted like it was made from a box. The ice cream on top tasted like they picked the chocolate shell off a Klondike bar and just plopped it on top of the brownie.
At the end of the day I don’t think we will be coming back to Leo’s anytime soon. It’s sad when the best part of the entire meal was a couple of pieces of grilled romaine lettuce.

All of the staff showed up late & they left the doors locked. When we walked in, the cook was kicking back, drinking a beer at the bar. The waitress looked at us like we had 10 heads and had no idea why we were there. The atmosphere is dirty. I didn’t even want to drink out of the glasses. The waitress disappeared & NEVER CAME BACK!

Years ago this place rocked… then it sort of lost it’s way and was regarded as the place for a very old customer base. Before a Pearl Jam concert a few friends and I wanted to grab a drink but all of the bars near the DCU Center were packed so we walked over to Leo’s for some drinks.
The drinks were great, so great that we decided to order pizza (a really heavy guy at the bar was having one and said it was great– if you can’t take pizza suggestions from fat guys you’re an ass)…the pizza was surprisingly good, a bit doughy but very tasty nonetheless.
A few weeks after the concert my wife and I were in the area and decided to stop in for dinner. The antipasto salad was by most standards just so-​so, it was basically too much lettuce and not enough antipasti… But as a tossed salad the antipasto was fantastic! The ravioli were good, my wife’s prime rib was also very good…
Leo’s is a traditional Italian restaurant, you’ll find a righteous plate of spaghetti and meatballs, they do chicken Parmesan well and the eggplant rolantini is good even if it bears no actual resemblance to eggplant rolantini. The place is one of the places we stop for «supper» and I’m glad more people haven’t one back for a long overdue second look!

My true rating: 3.5 stars
First off, I appreciate the old style décor, definitely gave it an authentic Italian look.
The food was a hit and a missed. Didnt understand why there was crab cakes on the menu, but my boyfriend and I love crab cakes so we always order it no matter what. It was surprisingly good: not soggy, half bread/​half crab, and crunchy (but not burnt). Unfortunately, the mussels with white wine and garlic was tasteless. Though the mussels was good quality. The baked lasagna was a okay, but the little necks linguine was a pile of nothing. No favors and no aroma, just plain pasta in my mouth.
The service was good, but seat yourself (!!!) thats a big thumbs down on my book.
However, I do want to give it another chance, seeing that I wanted to try other items on the menu – I shall be back.

My friend described it best during our extremely slow and much too long dinner. «This tastes like food that would be served at a nursing home.»
Inattentive service. Bad food. Overall no good.
