I used to really like this place. But I went in recently with my 4year old nephew who doesn’t eat deep fried oven cooked food and simply wanted a cheese sandwich. Considering he’s only small and there children’s menu didn’t have sandwiches on there I ask the rude untidy waitress if we could just have one slice of bread and cheese for a lower price than the £6 they wanted for an adult sandwich and they basically said no, so I told him they didn’t do his sandwich and he got so upset the waitress walked off and we had to leave!!!

Having had to get into Arundel for a decent parking lot. I had 2 hours to go before the first over to be bowled. Bit peckish and I didn’t want an Italian that early. Dropped into the Tudor, just up from Pappadelles, and was very pleasantly surprised with a fantastically inexpensive full English.£4. 75ppretty good I reckon. The tea was perfect! Lovely, interesting interior, and the food was great. Very sunny !! atmosphere and attitude from the staff, which looked a bit better than outside,(at the time)!!

I’ve issues with this place. For one, a big menu is never a good thing. We had a couple of baked potatoes, one prawn marie rose, and one with tuna mayo. On the plus side, they were huge, but the fillings were lacking. The prawns were small and frozen, and the sauce was your bog standard ketchup-mayo mix. At least it was better than the tuna mayo, which was in fact half a can of tuna dumped on top of the potato, accompanied by a small sachet of Heinz mayonnaise. Lame. Service was attentive, but people who think a salad can comprise iceberg lettuce, slices of tomato accented with grated carrot need to be brought up to speed. I’ll agree with Sira D on one point — the scones were indeed massive.

There is lot to love about this place, which is clearly on the tourist agenda for Arundel. Huge, well executed menu. Scones bigger than your hand. Charmingly olde worlde décor. However, the service was so slow that it actually had a knock-on effect on the rest of my day. What should have been a pretty speedy cream tea experience turned into an excruciating farce of watching a huge group of waitresses struggle inefficiently to cope with less than 15 tables.
