Bangla fusion is a small curry house based near shaftsbury square. We decided to try it one night our local curry house was closed for some holiday or something and ordered take out. The food took a wee while but being a Friday night we weren’t surprised or overly bothered as we had beer in the fridge and prison break on box set so we were pretty much set. Once the food arrived we were happy with the portion sizes which were big and the food was quite good. It wasn’t on par with our usual but at the same time it was edible and the flavours were great. I got the madras which was nice and hot and my partner got a vindaloo which he said was as hot as the best of them so that’s always a good thing. They do offer a sit in service too which I wouldn’t be opposed to trying.

I do enjoy a good curry. When I lived in Stranmillis not one minute from my door was Indie Spice, a fantastic little eatery that served me well. I’ve since had a few takeaways from it too but I thought I would branch out on this occasion and see what else Belfast’s Asian restaurants had to offer. As far as I’n aware this little place is a sit in restaurant but I can only comment on their takeaway service. Myself and my girlfriend after a day of doing on unproductive things decided cooking was off the agenda and that someone would be given that job. I ordered a king prawn bhuna, pilau rice and a plain nann, the other half had a lamb something or other(I think it was perhaps a dopiaza). The delivery did take quite some time to come, especially for a Thursday evening but when it did we were more than ready for, as they often say around these parts, a good feed. The ‘king’ prawns were a bit on the small side, a little bit tough and chewy, they tasted frozen to be honest. The sauce was well spiced though, rich and full of fresh coriander. The rice was well cooked if a little bit dry and the nann was fine. Not a spectacular place to sample some of the east’s best cuisine but it’s certainly not somewhere you’re going to end up getting food poisoning.
