There are many reasons why ‘Biddys’ is a great place for a father of two to visit especially in a Sunday. The first has to be the great kids eat free deal, where you get one free kids meal for each 3 Course Meal purchased. A good deal as the 3 course meal for the set menu is £12.95. Secondly the food is quite palatable and although not over generous with portion size, the three courses do seem better than a usual Sunday carvery. Lastly the upstairs which serve as a restaurant is divided into 2 sides, one with TVs showing the football the other without. So if like me you are out to treat the family to a nice relaxing meal, it’s nice to know you can enjoy a pint and watch the match too. Truly getting the best of both worlds! There can be some enthusiastic fans in attendance though, so if your kids are adverse to some loud noise perhaps the non TV side is best, but if not it adds great atmosphere to the match and serves as a good way to introduce the excitement and folly of Football fanaticism.

Also known locally as Hoppy’s/Hoppy Dobbin’s, this bar gets particularly popular when something’s on in nearby Casement Park. It’s a comfortable little bar, renovated in the last 5 years or so. The downstairs bar is very small, and always has a few punters milling about, given its location in the middle of the densely populated Andersonstown, which is also a hub of local shopping. Food is served upstairs on the extended first floor. The food’s pretty good, and gets quite busy at the weekends, although there’s always a local patronage throughout the week. I’ve only ever had a Fry in there, which used to be fantastic because they were a sort of «clean» fry — no greasiness or sausages sliding off the plate as you try to stick a fork in them. The last two times I’ve had a fry there it’s been a bit disappointing though. I don’t know if it’s a different chef but they just aren’t quite as good as they used to be — I still go back though because they’re not bad. There’s an extensive lunch menu and this is what keeps the locals coming back time and again. When the food is finished, upstairs just becomes a bar, and it’s sort of a modern take on a traditional style, if you can picture that. I mean, it’s got the whole wooden effect going on, but also has very comfortable and roomy seats. There’s entertainment on there a few evenings a week, particularly at the weekend, but this is mostly aimed at a younger crowd. All-in-all, not a bad spot, especially if you happen to be milling around during the day and fancy a pint or two, or a bite to eat.
