Only really been here for after funeral type things or christenings… its grand for what it is. a local place that’s decent enough regarding price and quality, wouldn’t be my first choice for a meal but I wouldn’t disregard it as I’ve heard good reports

Nice bar, restaurant and function rooms, been a good few times and food isn’t spectacular but is always of a good standard, nice for a few pints for sports in the dorans bar downstairs and nice for family functions with 2 small to medium size function rooms, my only gripe is the draft beer on selection is tied to tenants which isn’t my personal favourite but overall does a half decent job:)

The Glen Owen is another one of them hidden gems that is right on our doorstep! Great, sufficient service and the food was top notch. My mum did complain about the coke being dead«as a dodo», however other than this i could not fault this restaurant at an inexpensive price of 10.95 for two courses. There is always the option to add desert for £3.00 extra. overall an enjoyable experience in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere.

Stopped in for a late Sunday lunch. Seemed not to busy, and we were quickly seated but unfortunately that’s as far as the speedy service went. We all ordered the same thing vegetable broth and roast beef of silverside, all of which should have been almost ready to go soon after ordering, but for some reason it took 25 mins for our starters to arrive, and after that a further 20 min wait for our mains! The portions provided are generous and generally the food was ok, but it’s very debatable if it was worth the wait. The staff are very friendly and accommodating when it came to our young children(supplying them with colouring sheets and crayons). Nice enough atmosphere but I might just call for a pint next time, and get food elsewhere.

Situated on the Glen Road in Belfast, this bar is always brimming at the weekends with a varied crowd that ranges from 18 – 50’s. I’m primarily talking about Doran’s Bar, which is down the steps at the side of the building, which is where all the entertainment is. The entertainment runs from Thursday to Sunday, and is made up of local DJ’s and two-pieces. The DJ’s play a wide range of popular music spanning several decades, which goes a long way to explaining the varying age groups in the bar at the one time. It sounds strange when you hear of the variance in age groups that the bar accommodates, but it works very well. Admission to all entertainment is free, which takes the sting out of the slightly over-priced bar prices, particularly when it comes to certain bottled beers and cider. During the day, as with most pubs, sports events are screened on various TV’s throughout the bar. The upstairs bar is a bit more relaxed, and it’s good to have it totally separated from Doran’s bar, especially if you’re just in the mood for a quiet drink with a few friends — you always have the option to head down to the livelier option, should you change your mind. I haven’t eaten there in quite a while, mainly because it was seriously over-priced and the food was never that good, so it wouldn’t be fair of me to apply those comments now, especially as they’re starting to do special offers on meals, and have probably made other changes as a result. Finally, it is another place afflicted with Tennents(see Whitefort review), but an enjoyable night out with revellers of all ages looking for a lively venue.
