Me and my partner moved to Belfast in September. We had never been to Belfast before and didn’t know the good areas to live in. The University sabbatical officers recommended GOC, so we went down. The layout in the office made it easy to identify the houses to rent. The agent allowed us to go and look at the house ourselves. We really liked it so put an application in. The admin fees were not extortionate compared to other agents. However when it came to signing the contract it was a shambles, we didn’t know for 100% sure if we were able to sign the contract and would have somewhere to live until we actually moved over from England on the ferry with a car packed full of stuff in the hope we would be able to sign the contract. This was due to a complete lack of communication, all we needed was an email or phone call that would take 2 minutes. We were able to sign the contract and luckily have moved into the house with no problems since. The agent was also helpful once we arrived giving us a list of all the oil companies and their current prices which he didn’t have to do. I would recommend to friends but GOC need to put more effort into communicating with their customers.

After living in Stranmillis for four years it was time to find a city apartment for myself and my girlfriend. I do hate moving but it would be worth the effort once we’d found our little haven. There are several agents working for the company which is based in Stranmillis. It covers both rental and properties for sale in the south Belfast area, moving into the city area as well. The agent who showed us round a two bed city apartment was a little cold but she did give us the lowdown on the property and included all the salient facts. They do seem a little lackadaisical when it comes to contacting clients for a follow-up after a viewing. Several other letting agents are much quicker at getting in contact and getting your opinion, without being overly pushy. That being said, the apartment we saw was exactly what it said on the tin. I may be looking again in the near future and would defiantly give them a ring before settling on another property.
