I was never a huge fan of Indian food after some bad experiences and I had no intention of going to Indie Spice until a friend took me for one of their lunch specials. I am now converted. The service is very fast and the atmosphere is a very relaxed one. The Chicken Korma and naan bread is amazing. Full of flavour and for 5.95 you cant and wont complain

It’s been a while since I was here so I’m not even 100% sure it’s still there. We enjoyed our food when we visited and there was a good range of Indian food, but something that put us off a bit when we were there was the waiter! We were seated upstairs as downstairs was busy, however we were the only ones upstairs and the waiter up there just stood and watched us the whole time! It was a little uncomfortable being watched as it was hard to relax and enjoy your food, and it was almost like he was waiting for us to finish each course so he could pounce and grab our plates to clear up!

Having been a Patron for years especially at lunch times at the weekend, I invited some friends from London to Indie last night. Sad to say it was less than good. firstly we had to negotiate to be seated upstairs(downstairs busy). Then one of our party had to chase downstairs to get a drinks order.. Upon receipt of our starter one of my guests discovered hair in his kebab which was pointed out in a light way to the waitress. The main meals were not of high quality and were simply not hot for a chicken dish marked with 3 peppers. Nice cold Kingfisher beer and a complementry drink which we persuaded the waitress to change to 2 small whiskeys helped. A disappointing experience at a restaurant which increasingly seems to suffer from staffing problems. May attend at lunch time again but never again at an evening meal :(

Decent food but absolutely horrible service. The people serving are absolutely rude and my experience while eating is one of the worst I have ever encountered. Go there at your own peril

Usually use this place for take-away and it has never disappointed. Equally so when I’ve eaten in it. I rarely get Indian food from anywhere else so that qualifies my opinion but it is good. Nice enough place to sit in too.

I love spicy food and have eaten here many times, usually at luchtime though as they have a special 2 course meal deal for £5.95. Chicken Korma or Tikka Masala is my favourite and the portions are a good size. The place has a very modern feel about it and the staff are friendly. I think the same owners own the Jharna restaurant on the Lisburn Road whcih also receives very good reviews.

If you have read any of my other reviews, you will probably have gathered by now that I am a fan of Indian cuisine. I love it so much I could happily never eat anything else again. Probably. I first visited this little restaurant about two years ago, and have revisited a number of times ever since. Indie Spice is somewhere that, from as soon as you walk through the door, you are made to feel valued. The interior is beautifully decorated with warm colours in a modern, up to date style. The menu incorporates everything you would expect in an Indian restaurant, and for the amount of food you get, the prices are extremely reasonable. Everything we have tasted has been made and presented to an exceptional standard, my favourite is the Chicken Jalfrezi, oh, and the Onion Bhaji to start, it is huge, so make sure you are hungry!

My wife, 9 week old son and myself decided to go to Indie for lunch. We drove past to see what time lunch finished and it said outside open to 2:30. We then spent 5 minutes trying to park and got the baby out and all his belongings. We entered the premises at 2:15 to be bluntly told that they had stopped serving. I left the wife and child outside again and went back in to talk to whoever was in charge. The man who I spoke to said their chef finishes up at 2:15 so how would we get our food. I asked him why it said 2:30 outside and he said that it was to give people time to eat up. I said how unhappy I was with the service and his reply was sorry but that’s how we work here. I manage a pub /restaurant and I can not believe the customer service in the place. They own 6 restaurant and the jharna on the lisburn road is fantastic. I hope this is can be put down to a bad experience but I am gutted we couldn’t eat there.

I’ve always been a bit tied to this restaurant as far as Indian cuisine is concerned. Having lived around the corner it soon became a regular in my student days and I’ve still kept it as my local take-away too. Indie is one of several restaurants across Ireland, a couple in Dublin, one in Naas and one in Swords. They’ve longed prided themselves on fresh ingredients, well cooked and served in more modern and upbeat surroundings than the more old fashioned Indian restaurants in Belfast. Inside it’s mood lighting, flashes and strips of varying neons, a small bar, an upstairs and a booth tables. I actually ate from here last night, I had the Lamb Achari if you must know. A sweet, tangy hot curry served with rice and a peshwari naan. Fantastic. It’s advertised as the hottest thing on the menu but it’s more of a medium in my book(that is unless you bite into one of the dried birds-eye chillies lurking in the sauce. My most memorable experience was sitting in. I had the Tandoori bengal crayfish. One of the best Asian meals I’ve had to date. Served on a sizzling platter are several huge butterflied king prawn tails(evidently fresh) covered in dry spices surrounded by seared onions. It’s served with a spiced vegetable sauce and rice and the taste is superb. It’s one of the priciest things on the menu but if you do sit-in it’s certainly worth the extra cash.

Indie Spice on the Stranmillis Road is the first of the three Indie restaurants in Ireland, all of which are owned by one man, Tariq Salahuddin, who moved to Ireland in 1982. This is the only one I have been to, but as far as I know they are all quite uniform so it shouldn’t be to much of a problem! The décor is quite modern, lots of use of colour in the terms of fixtures and fittings which takes the harshness off the heavy steal chairs and dark leather padded booth seats. I’d heard a lot of mixed opinions on this place. Some people thought it was the greatest of all Indian restaurants, whilst others have declared war on it, trying their best to make sure no one has to experience what they thought was an all together rubbish night. Deciding to make up my own mind, I went one evening with an old girlfriend of mine to see what Indie had to offer. As I’ve mentioned before the décor is fantastic, cannot fault it. The décor was all but important by the end of the meal. In terms of price, most Indians are quite expensive in Belfast, but Indie takes it to a whole new level with the menu dividing and pricing everything, by the time you’ve constructed your meal from the massive selection available, the hopes of a movie afterwards becomes a prospect that could lead to financial ruin! The food was quite nice. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and so did my company. We did however have a problem with the staff. They weren’t particularly rude or unhelpful with our orders, but our seats were quite near to the register. A quieter moments, they would gather round the till and scream and shout to each other. They weren’t doing this to annoy me(I hope!) but having 5⁄6 people standing right over you whilst your trying to enjoy the meal you made after carefully studying the mammoth menu was a little irritating. The food is really nice, so take advantage of their takeaway facilities and enjoy in front of East Enders instead of sitting in the restaurant listening to the staff spoil the plot!

Really great Indian food. I’ve reviewed a lot of Indian restaurants on this website, and this has to be one of my favourites. It’s in a really popular area and is always busy, as well as offering a takeaway service too. The food is quite modern Indian, to match the funky décor — it’s not remotely traditional at all — really bright primary colours and effective lighting, none of that velvet curtains and so forth. The staff are very obliging, and we even got a free liquor once, just because they wanted to give it to us — it made for a lovely end to a lovely meal, and made us fee like special customers, which I thought was a lovely touch and will ensure that we will definitely be going back.
