Clean and fresh inside. Great street view to watch the world go by. Yet feels quite tranquil inside. Staff are nice. Had soup. Was nice hot temperature and good flavour. Good choice of menu for a city centre place. Will be back to sample the rest of menu.

Oscars Champagne Café has an impressive sounding name and thus a lot to live up to! It’s not as impressive as its name suggests — it’s more of a homely little café which serves booze. I’ve had just one lunch in Oscars in the past — a nice sandwich. Today I had Prosecco and a glass of Pinot Grigio. Not the best wine to be honest. However the staff are very pleasant and I would drop in again for a lunch or coffee but it just lacks a bit of pizzazz and good wine!!!

Despite have a misleading and slightly off-putting title I can’t get enough of this place. The city centre location is perfect for a quick lunch if you’re out shopping or on your lunch break and there’s always a good vibe in the place. I normally go for the hamburger which is a fresh and juicy as you could ever want. The service is great and there’s a good selection of newspapers if you in on your own grabbing a quick coffee. The café is licensed and there are some chunky looking bottles of champers behind the counter but to date I haven’t dabbled yet. Pros: Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Cons: Can be expensive.

Oscars is a fantastic place for something to eat if your in town working or just wondering around the shops. They are open very early on the weekdays to cater for the business persons working in the local area and is always full even before 9am. As Colm H said, their breakfasts are fantastic but I have never been disappointed with the food no matter what time of the day I’m here. As the name suggests there are a few alcoholic drinks served which is unique for a café. These can be a little steep price wise and the cost of your snack will be all of a sudden a quite expensive affair, but it’s not something that you would do regularly so it’s ok once in a while.

A gret wee café in the heart of Chichester street near all the shops and hustle and bustle. I called in for a Hot Chocolate and it was suprisingly good! So nice I didn’t need to add the extra sugar I normally do. Sweet tooth that I am! The atmosphere was really nice and the café had the usual buzz that comes with the city centre location whilst also feeling spacious and calm. Its funky and contemporary and offers a wide selection of wraps, paninis and sarni’s. I have a friend who swears by their fry’s so will definately be back to investigate furthur. But if its just a quick drink, bite or to linger over the latest gossip mag Oscars is definately a must offering free wifi for all us cyber heads! Also on display were pieces from the Zebra Art Factory which could be purchased and were priced from £55-£75 with an offer of buy two get one free. Really nice canvassed prints to suit every eye.

I think I’m missing something with Oscar’s. Reading the other reviews of this café, I’ve had a totally different experience(ok, I’ve only been twice, but still…). The first time I called in was for a tea to go first thing in the morning. To be fair, I can’t really complain here, because it was literally only a cup of tea(although it wasn’t the nicest I’ve ever had!) The second time I went, my mum and I had lunch with my cousin. We sat outside becasue it was a nice day and ordered our food. Again, I don’t have proper complaints. The food was fine, and the service was grand, but my dish(chicken goujons) was clearly just reheated processed chicken. I suppose there’s nothing wrong with that, but in a place called Oscar’s Champagne Bar, I would have expected better… That said, it’s a nice place to call in for a coffee. I wouldn’t rush to go for lunch again(although if the other reviewers are right, maybe I should), but it’s in a great location, and it’s always nice to support independent businesses, rather than nipping into Starbucks. Again.

This is a must for anyone looking for decent food and a relaxed atmosphere in Belfast’s city centre. If you go before 9am on a weekday morning you can see all the business men and woman enjoying their quadruple espresso and chain smoking their cigarettes before their daily grind. I know this place well, because when I used to work in the city centre, I would probably go here 4 to 5 times a week. I would suggest if you go, go in the morning and enjoy their great cooked breakfast which is one of the best in the city. The service is great as well with the waitresses being very polite and cheery, which helped me no end on those dull Monday mornings before work. As well as all this, you can get a few alcoholic beverages if that’s what you are after. Overall this is a lovely relaxing place that can give you respite from the hustle of the city.
