As I am not especially keen on kebabs it was a big risk to try out Rahmi’s the other day but I was in a hurry before the cinema so decided to give it a chance. The meaty part of the chicken tikka kebab that I had wasn’t too bad, quite tasty and not too dry but the lettuce had certainly seen better days and the resident tomato begged the question — why buy the pale anaemic sort when it’s actually quite easy to buy a nice red ripe one? Rahmi’s, I’m sure your supplier I am sure could manage to get round that particular detail! My companion, who likes kebabs far better than I complained that his frizzled looking steak kebab was greasy, like the chips, nor were they hot enough. Oh dear, I’m sure you could do better

I’ve been here twice, once under the influence and once stone cold sober so I think I can give a reasonable amount of insight into this city centre kebabery. Rahmi’s has only been open a year or less, not sure exactly but it wasn’t open when I moved into the city centre. The staff are more than friendly, and they do their very best not to attack the many arses who frequent the kebab shops across the city during a late evening. Prices are pretty standard, under a fiver for a lamb doner and hitting six or so for mixed, steak or chicken. The last time I was there I had a steak kebab on nann(or a king kebab as it’s now been named) It was quite frankly huge. I very rarely leave food but on this occasion my stomach and heart made the decision before my brain really had a chance to argue. The meat was well seared and meaty, it isn’t reconstituted and is actual beef. Lashings of fresh salad and sauce topped this heart attack special off. There are a few places close by where if you stop by late at night and eat from their establishments you will get food poisoning. This defiantly isn’t one of them. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and well cooked food in a shop which looks clean.
