The Advocate is situated just across from the law courts in Belfast city centre(a dangerous place to be getting drunk if you ask me!). It really isn’t my type of place. I’m more of a pint type guy and cocktails are not something I’d drink so often. I was dragged here, I a sense by a group of buddies who had already made plans to go out and I was surprised to see the place was not the messy packed heap I had heard it was! The drinks were really, really tasty, dangerously hiding any hint of alcohol in their fruity suspensions. Coming in at around £5 for a cocktail, it could end up costing quite a bit for a night out here, but there’s so much alcohol in each drink that it would be hard to handle spend more than £25! An interesting night!

The Advocate was never a bar I went into. Then, a while back, it closed down, was bought over and re-opened. A week or two after it did, a few friends and I called in to take advantage of their 2 for 1 cocktail offer, and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s very nice inside, striking the balance between modernity and style with ease. Unfortunately, when we were there, it was very empty(I think there were only 2 other groups in the place!). This was probably more to do with it only being new though than a reflection on the bar. Plus, because it was empty, we got out drinks served to the table, which was nice! I’d like to go back to see if the atmosphere is anybetter, because I think this bar has potential. It should also be popular during the day. Being right across the road from the courts, it’s usually teeming with lawyer types, which could be useful if you need any free legal advice!

Gets an older crowd. Can’t say anything bad about the place, but can’t say anything great either. Just kind of average i guess.
