Came here for lunch on a Saturday and was the first time either of us had been here and we won’t be in any rush back. We had literally just made it through the door where I noticed the ‘loved by Unilocal’ sticker(which to be honest got me a little excited) when we were ‘greater’ by the waiter who simply said ‘no tables’. That was it, no apology or telling us it would be a wait for a table or anything — simply just ‘no tables’. Shame as although to me it didn’t look particularly busy, it did seem like a nice setting. Still I’ll not be in any hurry to come back with plenty of more welcoming restaurants in the city.

Been here a few times, for both food and drinks. A great selection of drinks and the food is fantastic. It has a very quirky theme both inside and out, and should definitely be admired. They do a mean Old Fashioned!

I adore this little spot! The first thing that catches the eye is the décor! It is like nowhere else I have dined in Belfast and I love it even more for that! It is very shabby shek and you can almost feel like you are in a secret garden with vines and fairy lights everywhere! The tables don’t have a lot of space around them which can be problematic for larger parties. Our food was 5 star, I had the chicken and my other half had a steak. Both beautifully cooked(obviously I had a taste of his) and there was plenty of food on the plate. I was happy to pay the price for the standard presented! Be advised that as a table of 4 we were charged the automatic 10% service charge on our bill!

Been here a few times, for dinner and recently I had breakfast. The food is tasty and filling, and the service very good with staff being friendly, helpful and efficient. The breakfasts we had were huge, and were cooked to perfection — I recommend the large fries!

A group of 12 us went here from work one day for lunch. It was one of the girls birthdays and she’s a big fan of the place. It was in no way packed(3 other tables of 2 – 4). I’ll start with my dish the vegetarian risotto(best of a bad bunch of gluten free options). I’ve never had a risotto so tasteless! The only taste I could get off it was one of nearly gone off milk. I pushed it around my plate and grabbed some snacks on the way back to the office. The two beside me had fried bites. They both said it was as if the food had been reheated or allowed to go cold before serving as there were pockets of cold fat in the dish. In the end out of a group of 12 only 2 people were happy with their meal. Definitely won’t be back! It might be OK for 2 – 4 non vegetarians but I wouldn’t recommend it.

First time at an: pm have to say lovely venue in the treehouse, fairy lights great ambiance and would be amazin with roof off in summer, fantastically organised event by Unilocal and Steve! some amazin cocktails provided by the competitors. However do feel the staff at the venue let the place down, very slow service at there own bar, rather up themselves, place was freezing and after numerous requests for our table heater to be turned on we just got a sorry we are out of gas! Great place, will be back for cabaret club but staff need to remember preparation and customer service!

The setting is lovey. Very quirky. Very difficult to see in lifting. Upstairs in Treehouse tonight. Table heating not working. Very very cold.

The food is ok, I’ve had to send stuff back as was cold and other things on the plate were over done. The venue is lovely though. Nice drinks menu, seems under staffed each time I’ve been.

Treehouse which is upstairs in AM: PM is a great spot on a sunny day. It’s open air and fabulous especially if you manage to get a seat overlooking the street below for a bit of people watching. Good wine, prosecco & cocktails. They also serve good food too. The AM: PM restaurant downstairs serves some delicious grub. Never been to the Cabaret Supper Club but I hear it’s fantastic so I’m planning a trip to it real soon!

So me and my mum and a couple of friends hit the Cabaret Supper club last night for their 13th Birthday bash. I’ve been to the venue before a few times for the general show and for some tribute acts. We were greeted at the door with a glass of bubbly, which lets face it kicks any night off to a good start! Seating wasn’t assigned so being nice and early we managed to nab seats right at the front of the stage!(I believe you can reserve tables as well) Entertainment kicked off with a swing and blues singer who was very good. I love the style of music anyway so it was right up my street, My mum and I also got stuck in to a bottle of prosecco. It was nice but at the pricey range of some I’ve bought. At £32 a bottle it was good stuff, but I wouldn’t be hurrying for more except on a special occasion. After the first bit of Entertainment platters of ‘tappas’ style buffet trays were brought round. This was a little different for me as I’d only ever eaten the full sit down dinner before in the venue(Which are great) The food was fantastic, but I think we chose the wrong seat. We had a few nibbles from the first tray and then the rest seemed to pass us by for the rest of the night. So in the end we got enough to fight off the hunger but were left wanting more.(The selection was great ranging from mini-burgers, fries, chicken goujons, pork belly and other little finger foods) The burgers especially were delicious. After food the main show kicked off. Our main host of the night was Robert Brown. I’ve worked with Robert in the past and I know how great a performer he is so it was nice to see other people who hadn’t react to him. I was particularly impressed by the drag performer Cherrie who had an amazing voice and a great repertoire of songs, and off course the Burlesque girls were amazing.(There was a gentleman in the audience I am sure was drooling at one point and was completely mesmerised by the whole show. Also props for the girl who did the take on Jessica Rabbits scene from ‘Who framed Roger Rabbit!) We finished up the second half of the show with a nice bottle of Chilean rose wine. It was nice, but again a tad on the pricey side, at £18 a bottle, just above the average and with a nice sweet bouquet it was ok, but think I’ll hit the pints next time to save the wallet so close to the end of the month. Overall the Cabaret Supper Club is a great night out, the performance is great and the food is good.(I think the average price for dinner and show is around £30 per head so its very good value) Its a unique experience that will leave you wanting to come back for more. Bravo!

Got to do a wee update of my previous review of AM: PM after last night’s shenanigans. This review is for Cabaret Super Club who were incidentally celebrating their 13th Birthday last night. As part of these birthday celebrations they gave an audience of 100 people plus a taster of what Cabaret was all about. The evening started with a crooner who was built in the mould of the original rat pack, he took on some Sinatra classics as well as some other classic sing alongs. The evening was hosted by the unbelievably entertaining Robert who sang all the classics and engaged with the audience in hilarious fashion(sitting in the front row I was inevitably on the end of some of his quips). Between Robert’s songs there were talented burlesque dancers who wouldn’t have been out of place in the Moulin Rouge. The club itself is deceptively roomy and the acoustics are perfect for these type of shows. There’s not many other places in Belfast that couple eating and entertainment so if you haven’t been down to the super club then I would suggest booking yourself in — you are guaranteed great entertainment and value for money.

If you’re looking for a restaurant that is a mix between an old Irish pub with crap all over the walls and an up market tea room then look no further! I went at lunchtime on a Friday and it was rather quiet. So therefore there was ample staff and they were friendly and attentive. Three of us went and we all got some form of burger. They were good, my friends enjoyed theirs a lot more than I did, but we couldn’t help thinking that it wasn’t worth the money. A boar burger with nout else for 8 quid. The flavour didn’t quite cut it. Il be back, but I would get something else and at some other time of day when there is likely to be more of an atmosphere.

A really nice little restaurant, staff very attentive and first impressions are very good. The starter of tapenade we shared was tasty, the mains of wild boar burger for me was great and very filling. My wife had the beer battered fish and chips and voted it very nice. We also tried the cocktails, mine was a Bramble and I really enjoyed it, wife had a Fruttini again very good. All in all a very pleasant visit and will be back again.

I went here with my partner for our anniversary dinner, and I have to say it was an incredible evening. The service was first class, and the meal definitely didn’t disappoint. I had the duck for starter, which was perfectly cooked and just fell off the bone. The chicken which I had for main course was top notch, and though it looked like a small serving on the plate, it was more than enough. I finished off with«Pudding» — sticky toffee pudding to be precise. STP is my usual go-to dessert, and I am not exaggerating when I say this was one of the best I have ever had. Small, but cooked to perfection. To drink I had a ‘Between the Sheets’ from the extensive cocktail menu, which was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Although it seems pricey, the food is well worth the money. I will definitely be back!

I have to say I prefer this AM: PM to the one attached to Madisons on Botanic Avenue. There’s nothing wrong with that one at all, the food is just as good. But the décor of this store is fantastic. When stopping for lunch on a nice day, the seats, cramped onto the footpath of the street just look to cool to be ignored. The food is always cooked to perfection and the staff always friendly. It can get a little expensive. They don’t make any effort to balance the prices between the drinks and the food. Both are usually mind blowingly dear. But it is worth it once in a while. Even if your not hungry, they don’t mind if you sit at the bar area and have a quiet drink.

There are two of these in Belfast and I don’t really think that either are much to write home about. The one near City Hall is the better of the two. Its smaller and a bit cosier and usually have some pretty decent tunes on the juke box or have a good DJ pumping out some good music. Its certainly a solid enough place for a wee pint. The Botanic Avenue one is a different story. I went there for a work night out and didn’t have a good time at all. We were up on the top floor and the staff they made available were awful. Surly and unhelpful to the point of being aggressive. There are no toilets on the top floor so we kept on having to go past people eating downstairs which can’t of been any fun for them at all. Poorly thought out and a bit trendy for its own good.

It’s always a toss-up to which of the AM: PM’s that I prefer. I mean, I love the Botanic one… I had a brilliant lazy birthday lunch/party there once which sort’ve stretched on for about 8 hours with various people coming to met us and eat and be merry. This one on Arthur St has a much more different vibe but I do love it for many reasons as well. First off the place is split into 2 kind’ve rooms with the bar in the opening area and the greeting I find is always warm and friendly. The next room is the main dining area which has some cosy tables/booths and side wall absolutely crammed with funky little framed pictures. Really great ambience of an evening. The food I think is great and they do the wonderful Warsteiner beer which I find is always a good way to get an evening up and running. The prices are fair for the quality of the food and I’ve found the service to have been spot on any time I’ve been in. If you can find it and it isn’t too packed definitely try this downtown one out. Pros: Lovely setting. Cons: They don’t do the chorizo salad anymore, outrage!

I visited this quaint little restaurant on Upper Arthur Street for a quick bite of lunch on Saturday afternoon. I’ve never been before so was delighted with the décor and the small but meaningful touches which adorn the walls. You can tell how old the building is from the masses of woodworm through the ceiling, but it’s cleverly covered by the beautiful wreaths of cherry blossom lining the roof. As I sat down I was pleased to notice the sofas were incredibly comfortable, perfect for relaxing after a long day traipsing around town. The cushions scattered around the seats make the place feel like an old yet chic and comfy living room. The restaurant was notably busy(always a good sign) at least it was outside which thankfully left the inside free for us to choose where to sit. We opted for the chairs by the bright and airy window so we could enjoy the best of the day. We were served promptly by a cheerful waitress who didn’t mind I couldn’t choose what to have! When we eventually did make our minds up, we opted for the homemade lasagne with a side of chips, and the chicken and chorizo salad with two tiger beers. Unfortunately this is where the quality of the experience went down hill. Now I can’t fault the lasagne or indeed the chorizo, but the salad certainly wasn’t up to expectation. The salad leaves had already turned brownish and the tomatoes were neither crisp nor flavoursome but soft and wilted instead. I’m nearly sure the rest of the food would be gorgeous(it certainly smelt and looked that way) but I was disappointed by my meal. It tasted alright(by no means great) but I was put off by the presentation(admittedly not enough that I didn’t eat it!) All in all I would much rather have whiled away the afternoon in the likes of ‘Made in Belfast’(see review) but slave to the cause as I am I went out on a limb to bring to you the strengths and weaknesses of eateries around town. I’ll know for next time not to bother! AM:PM could certainly make a name for itself as mostly all I’ve heard is good reports but personally I was let down so I’ll have to wait to visit again and make a more informed decision.

AmPm is chic, romantic and cosmopolitan with aa rustic vibe. Its a great little restaurant with cushions, fairy lights and candles which makes it perfect for a romantic dinner ar a girlie lunch. They serve wine, beer, champagne and cocktails and prices are a little higher than most haunts but still worth it just for the faulous food! I got a pasta dish which wa to die for and definately complemented my sneaky noontime glass of wine! The big windows pulled open almost make you feel like your on holiday in spain and really help bring the outside in! Average food prices range from £6-£9, whicj is great and Mon-Thurs from 12−5pm yuo can get a meal and glass of wine for £8.95, which is a bargain as a glass of wine is normally £3.95. The place can also be hired for groups and parties and in the evening they have a dj making it a great wee night out!
