This is certainly the weaker of the two stores I’ve been to in the city centre looking for a bit of information regarding a new phone, and I’ll explain why. I had a reasonable, albeit rather pushy service in the Castle Court branch a couple of years ago and all went smoothly. It was quick, fast and the store was well laid out. The store in question however is a little bit confusing in its layout and the main issue I have with it is the knowledge of the staff working there. Of course they are fantastically knowledgeable when it comes to the type of contract you wish to take out — cost, terms of length etc but about each handset? Not good. I wasn’t sure which phone to get as a potential upgrade to my Blackberry and received some rather odd and conflicting information. The HTC Desire I was told operated on a new dual-core processor, which I knew to be nonsense as it runs on the Snapdragon processor most of the big name Android phones run on. Anyways, take a look but proceed with caution.

Carphone Warehouse is a big brand and everyone knows what they will get from them. But if you are looking for a new mobile phone contract it is always best to shop around and see what the best deals you can get are. This way you can use the deals you are offered as leverage against your existing network in order to get yourself a better offer. it’s a bit like bluffing in poker, you have got to have a fair idea what the other players hand is like, but you cant claim to have a royal flush all the time. Having said this when my contract was about to run out I went into Carphone warehouse to see what I could wangle, they offered me a PS3 if I signed up to a 24 month contract on an average phone, but as previously stated I never intended to take this, I just wanted to see what was out there. So I listened to the pleasant sales persons pitch and then said politely, «No Thank You Sir». This gave me great leverage with my provider and I am happy to say that using this info I was able to barter Vodafone down, they are practically paying me to stay with them, not really because this would not work. But one thing I learnt about Carphone Warehouse is that if you want a freebie with your contract sign up with them.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. I have sold mobile phones in a previous life and I felt I actually had to leave before I went mad, sold my soul for an upgrade or threw myself in Bangor Marina. Luckily, I got out while I still had a few marbles rolling around upstairs and got myself into more morally justifiable employment. With this in mind, I recently had to replace my phone following a phantom breaking and called into this Carphone Warehouse to see what was what. The service I got was pretty bad. When I first went in I was pretty much ignored without so much as a hello or a smile from the staff and once I did finally get served I felt that I was getting the hard sale put on me, which is never a nice feeling. Needless to say, I went elsewhere to get a phone. The location of this place is great but I just don’t think the company or the staff are all that nice. Not really up to much.
