I feel like a bit of a traitor considering I’ve always rated Campbell’s sausage rolls as the best in town, but we all have to move with the times and unfortunately for Campbell’s this signifies their end of reign and the Proper Pasty Co’s new reign of the favourite sausage roll test! They are flippin’ brilliant! I actually anticipate returning here to try many more of their foods because I’m sure they are great. I mean, they can’t be called proper pasty co for nothing; I’m sure their pasties rock this world! You can sit in or take away depending on your mood. I will be sure to let you all know how I feel about my next visit, I’m sure it won’t fail to impress. Yum yum wish it was 24 – 7!

Right on the site of the famous Belfast rat bakery this tasty looking place should be considered if you fancy something hot for lunch. I love a good pasty and will always head straight for the Pasty company they have on every street corner in London, I was pretty pleased to see one slap bang in the middle of Belfast. They do a decent meal deal at lunch time which consists of any pasty and a hot or cold drink for £3.15 — pretty good I think. I ordered a chicken pasty and tea to go — honestly I don’t know why I always order tea, its too hot to drink and too hot to carry. The pasty was pipping hot too which was a real bonus as there isn’t much worse than tepid takeout meat. I enjoyed my lunch and will be back another day. Can’t go too often as pasties aren’t great for the waistline. Nice food and no sign of those pesky rats! Yummy!

Hadn’t noticed this place before so out in town on a wet Saturday seemed like the logical time to go visit. Now pasties might not be to everyone’s taste or fit in everyone’s health régime but the one’s in here seriously rocked. I had the lamb and mint pasty which was delicious and so big I could barely finish. For £2.60 I was well satisfied with the outcome and it was nice to have a bit of banter with the friendly staff about the other fillings. The shop itself is in a good central location with a small seating area inside and a few tables outside. I heard rumours of there being one on Royal Avenue as well so will endeavour to check that one out soon. Pros: Good selection, friendly staff. Cons: Perhaps not for those dieting.

I avoided the Proper Pasty Company for a while when it opened simply because the bakery it had replaced was closed by health and safety because of a pretty serious rat problem! I then realised that they had probably washed the floors since moving in, so I called in for a sausage roll one day. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were really nice(possiby because the newness hasn’t worn off the place so the staff cynicism hasn’t set in) and the sausage roll was lovely. There were loads of different pastys on display, so I’ll probably be back to see what else they can offer, which I suppose is a good sign, right?

The Proper Pasty Company is situated in Queens arcade and does a mean sausage roll! Istopped by here on a whim really and was intrigued by the lovely smells and the pasties! Ive always been a fan of cornish pasties, especially the real deal from cornwall and I must say these guys really know their stuff! The pasrtry is perfect and they even get a little adventerous with some of their fillings. But I must say the sausage rolls are my fav by far and tho the place is small, even with seats outside the pasty’s are great as a snack on the go to fill a hole and warm you up inside! The prices are cheap as chips costing about £1.30-£1.50 so definately student friendly!

There are occasions when something like a Cornish pasty or sausage roll with a cup of tea fits the bill, especially on a wet day for some reason I find. This is what you will get in abundance — obviously — at the Proper Pasty Company in Fountain Street. The corner premises that is situated by the entrance of the Queen’s Arcade is tiny, however, so there is only very limited seating. It’s more of a take out place, therefore, but to take steaming pasty back to an enclosed office might not go down very well. This sort of food might trade better for late night snacks on an evening out, though I suggest that Fountain Street is not the best location for that market. I had a traditional Cornish pasty, though are other spicier flavours. Evidently the food is baked off in the shop having been imported from elsewhere and therefore the effect is somewhat mass produced with the pastry a bit tough but as it’s cheap and harmless I suppose.

The Proper Pasty Company has just recently opened at one of the entrances to the Queen’s Arcade. This is a fantastic place for a little eatery as it is just right in the centre of town. The shop offers(obviously) pastries. They have a huge selection from tradition cornish pasties to their own little inventions where they show no fear in trapping most edible things in pasty. I first had a taste of the food here when walking by on its opening day. They were offering lots of different samples for people to try and there appeared to be somewhat of a queue gathering. I had a piece of the cornish pasty as well as some little random ones that I wasn’t sure what they were but they tasted fantastic none the less. Given that its pastries the prices are cheap as chips, perfect for a quick snack on a thrifty budget. The shop itself is tiny and there’s not much space at all to sit down. However, there’s also outside seating which is a little more roomy if you want to sit.
