Zara has recently reopened after a major facelift. The old store was looking a little tattered so the revamp was more than welcome. So what’s changed I hear you ask? Well the woman’s section occupies the first 2 floors and then the kids and mens department is on level 2 which is the 3rd floor(hopefully that makes sense). In my opinion Zara is at the higher end of High Street fashion. I think Zara really comes in to it’s own in the summer as most of their men’s clothing is made from lighter materials. I really like Zara Men’s clothing — it’s great for smart casual gear and you won’t see too many other people about town dressed in it. Their clothes seem to be of Mediterranean style and I’m not sure if a ginger pasty man like myself could pull off white linen trousers but I’m sure there’s some Belfast folk who could. One thing I noticed about the new store is that is that it is impeccably well kept by the staff, there wasn’t a garment out of place and there seemed to be plenty of staff on hand to offer help. Overall the refurb is great and it’s nice to have a Zara store gracing Belfast’s City Centre once again.

This could be done in two words, the latter of which is ‘OFF’ but what sort of Unilocaler would I be if I were to be so judgemental of this over-priced, dreadful excuse for a clothes shop. Though my parents did bring me back a lovely Zara t-shirt from holidays, it is the only thing that I have found that I would not consider pouring bleach into eyes for having seen it. Everything in this shop looks pretty much awful and I would not ever consider coming here for anything other that fuel for a waning campfire. If you are a woman, you would probably love it. All women love shopping. Well most do. It must be something to do with your genetic make-up because I cannot fathom it. Painfully bad this shop is. Two words. The second is Off. And why can’t I put minus stars on this? Ok one star it is, but I’m not happy.

This is one of my favourite clothing shops in Belfast. Although it is High Street fashion I always find they do clothes that are just that little bit different from the trends you see everywhere. I love nipping in here to pick up some fresh, funky new threads. I have been in a few times in the past week, namely because I’m going on holiday soon and need some beach wear, and I’ve got a couple of gorgeous beach dresses for ridiculously cheap!(£5.99 each reduced from £45, now you can’t beat that!) Some of my favourite clothes are from here. I remember getting a Scooby Doo T-Shirt a few years ago that still gets worn; it’s so soft and comfy! So as well as clothing that is professional and long lasting you can also find fun, refreshing clothes. Zara also stock a great baby section(I always ooh and aah over the teeny tiny shoes — bless them) Head here if you’re after something different quality clothing.

I really hate Zara in general but I especially hate the UK version. Having lived in Spain for several years there were Zara stores everywhere — huge big warehouse type shops with loads and loads of cheap fashion but in the tiniest of sizes. I just thought it was because the Spanish ladies are smaller in general so I was thrilled to find a Zara in Belfast. The store is one two floors, dark and moody and quite sparsely laid out. Unfortunately the clothes don’t come in bigger sizes in the UK. As a size 14⁄16 wearer I find Zara Large and XLarge don’t even fit. It’s not a nice experience for me going in here. I feel like I am tempted by the nice modern clothes, which are by the way, much more expensive here than abroad. Only to be dropped back to earth with a bump when I go to try them on! Make your clothes bigger Mrs Zara and us normal sized ladies will spend spend spend!

I really love my clothes and I’ve recently come to love Zara. It;s kind of sad as I can note a mental graduation from the cutesy/hippy stuff of Miss Selfridges onto the cooler and slicker Topshop and now I’m in the limbo of being a young woman and beginning to dig Zaras sleek tailoring. I popped in here recently to get some clothes for an interview(the job will pay for these clothes I told myself– even though I didn’t get it!). I had my eye on a pair of high waisted trousers with a peg leg and one of those fashiony knot belts. I got myself these for a bargain £30 and a crisp white classic shirt. The range of clothes in zara are great. They are more classic than following faddy trends which is commendable. There are some gorgeous dresses, shoes and bags but Zara really come up trumps for tailored suits and jackets. If you are going to an interview and want to impress, Zara is your(wo)man!

I feel the need to Unilocal about Zara in Belfast as it is the only branch in Northern Ireland and because its beautiful shiny glass doors just keep on drawing me in like a magnet. It’s a huge three storey branch and I’ve been told that the top floor is for menswear but as my husband is more of a Gant kind of guy, I’ve never felt the need to go up to that altitude! For me the ground and first floors are a place of joy and shopping heaven. Whatever the occasion, Zara comes up trumps — work, casual, Big Night Out, I always find something fab fab fab. I think the quality is amazing for the prices and given the speed with which the really fashion forward pieces hit the rails. Favourite buys this season have been a furry gilet and a sequinned party dress. But I really must mention the most fantastic purchase I have made — a sensational black silk one– shouldered dress for I kid you not, £6! The Zara sale has to be seen to be believed. Most of the staff seem to be Spanish which is not that surprising given that Zara is a Spanish company and they are all friendly and helpful. Of course, their English is perfect, putting us lazy Belfasties to shame as usual!
