The idea of BrewDog seems really cool, like many craft beer places I would visit back in California. They have a good selection of craft beer, albeit expensive for a pour here. The space fits the projected persona of the business, wooden tables, benches, and wall graffiti. I know it gets packed in the evenings, so we came in for lunch to avoid crowds. Start by ordering at the bar. It’s probably worth noting that if you’re not drinking, it’s not the best place to order a soda as they had some trouble finding and serving it on ice. My beer was good, but I opted for a common Euro Weissbier rather than an American craft beer for savings purposes. For our food, we had the Sausage Roll, Pork Bap, and Loaded Fries. The fries had pulled pork and cheese, which was nice. The bap was identical to the former and the sausage roll was big, however had much more meat than the thin layer of pastry. That works for some people, but the disproportion made it hard to finish. We would have expected it to be a little warm coming out of the kitchen, but the cold meat may have also affected the flakiness of the pastry. While our dining experience was okay, we weren’t quite enticed to return to another location elsewhere in England.

Still always a fantastic night in here. I love the atmosphere of the place. You can sit or stand and be comfortable either way. The chilled out atmosphere I’d what the regulars of brewdog love. You can grab a board game or Jenga(my fave) and have a game with friends over a nice cold PUNKIPA! Delicious ales and beers its a winner every single time.

Another Brewdog that once again lives up to the great standards set by the other venues. The range of beer is fantastic with things to suit all different tastes. Sometimes worth paying attention to the alcohol content with some getting into double digits. Food is good, and can come out quite quickly although the it’s worth noting that when it is busy there can be a wait, but the staff do let you know if this is the case. Friday evenings and Saturday evenings it can get extremely busy and very loud but overall fantastic venue.

The fries… are to die for. I am an official fries and onion rings aficionado and I reckon they have the best fries going in Birmingham. I know they are a beer place but I’m sticking with that statement. The beer is rather lovely too and it has a very laid back atmosphere which is nice. I especially like that you can try before you buy because despite liking beer, I am nowhere near an expert so need it.

Thank you BrewDog for restoring my faith in English beer! This place is hands down my favorite watering hole in Birmingham. The menu is constantly rotating(no, you’re not stuck between AmBev and Carlsberg!). The service is not the friendliest, but it’s efficient and they don’t serve food so who cares. On our first visit, several pumpkin beers were on tap. I chose to stick with the house made pumpkin because it was delightfully seasoned with cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove in the brew. The beer was crisp and bright and at 3.50 a glass, quite the deal. The décor is a fun punk theme with trendy lighting. The seating leaves a little to be desired, unless you can snag the couches downstairs. Unfortunately, these were reserved for a group. The art is fun and the location incredibly convenient to New Street Station for an easy drunk train ride home.

Another city, another fantastic Brew Dog experience. All the familiar beers available, with I think a subtlety different food menu than in Manchester. Made to feel completely welcome by the staff even though it was rammed with my fellow half marathon runners. Delicious burger and celebratory pint enjoyed, if I’m in Birmingham again, you can bet I’ll be back to this branch of Brew Dog

We split the chicken burger and chili burger. GREAT choices. The atmosphere and food are great here! We went for lunch but I’m sure it’s a good hangout at night.

Ok. I am that stereotype… Man with time to kill between journeys. No one to talk to and a few hours to wait. In need of food and not really wanting a beer… Well not a generic beer anyway. Not dressed to impress(probably a little rucsac weary). Not a hundred percent sure of the locale, so wonder around the stunning new new New Street Station(if you are heading here from the station go for the Hill Street exit). But I am a man with time, for once, to write a review! And then I catch sight of a sign that brings me joy(who needs the Golden Arches– not me?!) THEBREWDOGLOGO! I suddenly know where I am like a divine intervention: it is less than three months ago that Ian and I brought Wendy and Betty(two much loved pals from Birmingham) here… And I know they have already been back with their own huddled masses since, because they were so impressed! Firstly I get greeted like a regular! Every man and women’s dream… And hell it works! The cheerful barman with amazing tattoos(maybe they all have them), greeted me– implied he remembered me(probably my faffing over the immense selection of craft ales they have was more memorable). I knew I wanted the £8.00 burger with bacon, cream cheese, fresh lettuce, glorious mushrooms, onion, and BBQ sauce– it was recommended by another happy Unilocaler). And I know I wanted a draft, displayed on an old-school 70’s style cinema screen behind the bar. But I kinda panic by the sheer choice this place offers. However, a couple of supportive questions later, from the skilled barman, about what I like(just the same as last time) and I choose his suggestion: Lacerated Sky, 9.0% £4.05 for a half. This, like many of their beers is strong, to be sipped and will last you as long as more than a pint. This was decided by a small«taster» opportunity– I did not even ask, it was freely given… This bar WANTS you to enjoy the taste of good ale! So I take a seat in a booth… and take in the place… The street art, laid back under-designed decore(wood and putty grey and metal and brick) is wonderful interesting and relaxed. This bar has effortless cool BUT it is also a bar you would feel embarrassed but not mortified-and-have-to-leave-if you dropped your drink in(if that makes sense). It feels welcoming in Brewdog Birmingham. and, more importantly, consistently welcoming every time… ALL the staff seem genuinely happy to work here like few other places I know. And that in itself is rare and adds to the feel-goodness. And I have now been here at all times of days and night and received this content, good service. At the moment, this place is not as busy as it deserves(early lunch slot) — but it has atmosphere and a relaxed warmth… Music made me feel like squirrel or moose from supernatural, simple upbeat, feel good, guitar-drum-lyric heavy music that you can still talk over. Gawd, going on a bit here in my desire to state just how good this place is. Right. Sprint to the finish. Burger is amazing. Yup amazing. One of the best ever. Great flavours, nice toasted bun, generous topping. Only it is served in a chicken in a basket affair and I almost flipped my chips and bap on the table… Again I would come back even if they’d seen me do it! But maybe this is less criticism, and more about my ability to use a knife and fork. The strong craft ale hits the spot and works well(I get offered a second on tab and willingly take it with a glass of water too). Service remains chilled and chirpy, I get work done(yes– I can actually think here, AND enjoy myself). The other«punters» are polite and relaxed(reap and ye shall, and all that…) They also chat and laugh and relax… This is a bar you come to to talk to food friends… All this culminates to make me feel so happy I stumbled across the place. The higher strength, higher taste ales must come with a warning… Make sure you do not relax and order to the point that you pour yourself out of the place because you are going to want to go back. So I am going to get back to my Lacerated Sky*** Knowing, not only do I want to come back here to this Brewdog, specifically in Birmingham — but that I am getting(over ?) excited about the second Brew Dog venue opening in Glasgow’s Merchant City. I am hoping I am going to get this pleasure on my work’s doorstep much more often and very very soon. And know that I will be visiting here again, as I travel through… as I am sucker(and loyal) for good craft beer and food on welcoming surroundings… As with Brew Dog… Birmingham is better for it, and you never forget your first. ***disclaimer– I just edited this from yesterday– for anyone who read version one… Told you the craft beers can be strong!

A helpful bearded(always a plus) barman let me sample his recommendations before I settled for 2⁄3 of a pint of Hop Fiction, a very nice brew. Most Brewdog bars I have been to have been small and cramped, this one actually pretty spacious by comparison. You would never call their bars cosy though. Made a few friends here, sharing our table initially with a laptop user followed by a chirpy couple. Places outside of London I visit keep immediately shoving in my face evidence of how much friendlier people are outside London! Fries with cheese and jalapeños make a great beer soaking up snack

I couldn’t leave Birmingham without checking out their BrewDog first and it was surprising how ‘familiar’ the place felt to Manchester’s. Booth seating, girders, lots of exposed brickwork and graffiti-style artwork — the ancestral home of heavy metal indeed had plenty of Punks(of the IPA variety that is). Fairly busy inside on a Thursday late evening, we were served immediately by the friendly bar staff. Don’t be discouraged from asking for recommendations or to try before you buy — they’re more than happy to do both. Some of us ordered from BD’s own range, the rest tried a tipple from other breweries. Whereas Manchester has a mezzanine level, Birmingham has a basement ‘den’ with a number of soft leather couches. You’re somewhat shut off from the buzz of upstairs down here though, but it’s a decent spot if you wanted a comfy sit down and quieter drinking experience. A bar that’s now one of many across the country, I really hope that their(what feels to me to be) «we’re too cool to be called cool» company ethos coupled with their produce being available more and more on supermarket shelves doesn’t negatively change what we first loved about them as an indie. That said, having a BD in your town or city gives you the opportunity to try some amazing beers in a great environment, and the one in Brum is just fine and dandy.

I have spent the past 5 days visiting family and friends, and have returned a fully fledged BrewDog addict! Having gone out for a birthday meal at Turtle Bay, my friends and I decided to go to BrewDog for some beers as its only next door. I’d never been to BrewDog before but had heard lot about it so I was really excited to go. I have to say I was not disappointed at all! A very lovely bartender recommended one of their beer cocktails to try(sadly can’t remember the name — it was a long night) and it was fantastic! At around £7 it wasn’t too highly priced. Afterwards I opted for a pint of their ‘Punk IPA’ — wow. I’ve never really been a massive beer lover but for me, this drink has changed the game! It has a really nice aromatic quality to it. I enjoyed it so much, I ended up drinking it all evening yesterday when I discovered my local was selling it for £2 a bottle! I’m quite surprised that we don’t have a BrewDog here in Brighton because I think it would do really well! I’m looking forward to going on my next visit to Birmingham for sure.

Right so been here a couple of times now for drinks on different occasions and I have to say that I enjoy it. It works well enough to try out new beers and then give the guest beers a go. The place is tidy and well presented and the atmosphere is definitely friendly enough. The problem I have with the place is there isn’t really much more to say about, there is never really anything going on, nothing to keep me in there. I get what the place is all about, it started really as a rebellion against chains and having to buy beer in from a brewery but… in a way, thats what has happened to this place. Everywhere seems to sell Brewdog beers now so its sort of a full circle. I could be wrong, I might have my facts completely muddled and I might be missing something. I look around the place though and no one is heading to the bar, people are taking a good hour to drink the beer and then they sort of up and leave. When it moved into Birmingham I really wanted for it to be somewhere new for me to go on a regular basis but I struggle to find reasons to head there other than«somewhere a bit different» but once I am in there I dont know why I am in there. Its by no means a bad place but its not a very characteristic place. If there is more stuff happening there, I am yet to hear about it.

Another BrewDog bar, another identikit hipster bar. Prices here seem even higher than at other BrewDog bars, with a pint of Punk IPA closer to £5 than £4, ridiculous for something you can pick up in Tesco for £1.50 a bottle. As there aren’t many other«craft beer» pubs in Birmingham, this place gets rammed which makes paying so much for the beers even harder to stomach.

Before BrewDog cemented itself into my life I was completely unaware of the«craft beer revolution» which was happening around the country. Ales and stouts were something old men drank in pubs with sticky carpets and bad décor and something I avoided at all costs. In stepped BrewDog. Opening at the end of 2012 and at the bottom of my apartment building on John Bright Street I couldn’t help but take a gander at what it had to offer, and boy does it have a lot. There is something for everyone here. Even those that profess they do not like or drink beer can find something to enjoy, they also offer beer cocktails or wine if you can’t handle a pint, 2⁄3 or 1⁄3. Yep, 2⁄3. Who knew? Though with beers ranging from 4% right up to 15% you can see why you might want a 1⁄3. You can also sample the beers before committing to a full measure. Just ask the staff, they are friendly and knowledgeable about the beers on offer, even the guest drafts which come from all over the world! They even serve food too! You can grab their daily specials, I had a beef stew using their IPA Hardcore beer during their live brewing event or try something from the main menu such as their delicious burgers. They also host music nights Thursday and Sundays as well as infrequent tasting sessions, so be sure to keep your eye out for them. So what are you waiting for? Join the beer revolution. You won’t look at an ale quite the same again.
