Covered Wagon is my local. Friendly family pub with a warm welcome. Very cheap food. They do two meals £7.50!!! Portions are good sizes. Chips are moreish. I had the veggie burger. It was nice but the bap was burnt. The staff kindly changed it for me. Staff are really good, I’m particular the new guy Jamie. He was awesome. He really looked after us. See you next time.

This pub is generally a favorite amongst other pubs in Moseley. With meal deals throughout the week, it is affordable to eat out here with the family. Range of cask ales, double up on spirits for £1.25. Decent size pub, décor is nice. This pub is part of the Sizzling Pubs chain. The sizzling Skillets are quite popular here. Affordable pub grub and beer –two good reasons to go to this place. Free Wifi and car park.

Upon entering the pub, a waiter wizzed past me with what could only be described as a delicious pile of heaven. It looked like the biggest ice cream chocolate Sunday ever known to man! Before my friend and I had even sat down to eat, we decided right there and then that we had to have one. Inside, the décor wasn’t anything special and I felt that the seating areas were too close together. I’m sure they were of average distance, but we were unfortunate enough to be sat next to a table of 10, 6 of which were children — most screaming! Luckily for us, before our food arrived the army of terrors vacated the building and we were left to enjoy our chicken and potatoes in peace. The food was OK, chicken not too chewy, but we wanted to hurry up and get the main event — the chocolate sundae which by the way was amazing.

This is a bit of a crazy pub from my experiences; There’s one staff member that gets very angry with the chef and shouts at them, while kicking the doors when she brings the food out. She’s always friendly to customers, but it makes the whole dining experience a little on edge. The Brummie celebrity customers can’t mind it though, because I’ve bumped into Carl Chinn sipping on a pint in here on several occasions; as well as the cast of Doctors, which is filmed nearby. Other than it’s claim-to-fame punters, the pub isn’t anything special inside, and the décor could do with a little upgrading. The dining and drinking areas are however very large, and you very rarely struggle to find a table. Sometimes, you just struggle to find a table that’s clean. There’s a very limited number staff on the occasions that I’ve been in, and more than often, only two people are manning the bar and the large dining area; but somehow, they both maintain proficiency.

Just up the road from the Yardley Wood Road entrance to Moseley Bog, The Covered Wagon won’t ever win any prizes for being particularly cool or unique but it is a nice enough place to spend a sunny afternoon. Part of the Ember pubs chain, it offers the usual pub staples of sizzling steaks, wraps, nachos and sharing platters. Drinks are cheap — you can easily get a pint for under 3 quid and it seems a popular choice with pensioners who can often be found at the front of the bar tucking into a ‘two-for-one’ special whilst leafing through a copy of one of the daily newspapers the pub holds. Sitting outside allows you to enjoy the view of Agnes Road and the traffic queues(which is actually quite nice) and staff in the bar are sweet. When I asked what wine they had I was told in an earnest voice that they stocked…‘red or white’ which was rather charming really. As you’d expect there’s a regular quiz night as well as a pool table and a rather racy sounding poker evening.
