We have been a few of times to the The bulls head a few times and the bar is great, But this review is for the cuban embassy restaurant inside the bulls head. The dinner experience was no good, half of the menu is not cuban and is definitely not prepared as per the original recipes. The waitress came over to us and told us about 4 out of the 10 tapas dishes were not available to order. Which is extremely poor being at least 50% of the menu, The waitress was looking after us well, but didn’t recognise the dishes in the menu by their spanish name. We ended up going for the Sunday roast pork loin /Aubergine roast meals instead. They were running an offer for 50% off and when the meals arrived it just looked like they had reduced the meal by 50% too. The food was tasty(nothing special) but very little of it. This was the smallest Sunday roast i’ve ever had. We were all pretty hungry at the end of it and decided to not bother ordering a dessert and went to the weather spoons over the road instead for a dessert and beer. We have been before for drinks which is great and has a lovely atmosphere and I can say i enjoyed the live music lots on pervious occasions. But sorry to say the food may be half price but didn’t live up at all! Such a shame!

Have I really not yet posted a review of The Bull’s Head? This was the first pub in Moseley to be brought up-to-date with a modern re-furb in 2003. It’s the birthplace of Moseley nightlife as you know it today. Under the management of Adam Regan, this bar hosts loads of excellent club nights including Jam Jah which is the longest continuous club night at the bar playing reggae, roots, and dancehall every single Monday. On weekends smart, quality dance music pulls in a crowd who flock upstairs to the only dedicated dancefloor in the Village. At weekends its open late too, so when other pubs and bars shut at 11pm like it’s the 20th century, you know you can safely continue your fun. As live music goes the venue has the best PA for the size of the venue in the UK, with top-notch equipment, and a crystal clear sound for performers and audience alike. This is Tmrw and Bohemian Jukebox run regular events with touring and Birmingham-based acts Downstairs on a weekday night, you might find yourself being witness to the event Canvas, where live artwork appears before your eyes and stays up until the next event. Drinks-wise, there are lagers, ciders, wines, a couple of local ales, premium spirits and everything that you’d expect from a savvy bar. It’s a nice package, and if you like this pub’s big sister,(The Hare & Hounds in Kings Heath), you might well love what’s going down here too

Too cool for school! Decided to revisit this bar for a night out as promised. The Bulls Head is definitely out there in terms of trendy and stylish bars offering a place to socialize. Open till 2am, this place is vibrant and busy with DJ playing Reggae, soul, funk and much more. Reasonable size area downstairs with few tables and lounge chairs. Great atmosphere to chat and catch up with friends. Upstairs is a thriving music scene, with a DJ and local bands playing live music. £4 entry is well worth paying to see some of the most talented bands in Birmingham. I had an awesome time listening to a human beatbox — Ed Geater jamming with other bands and vocalists. Call me Unique and Antelope were two great bands. Amazing guitar, drum kit, saxaphone and even trombone players. You can easily lose yourself in the music whilst sipping on a drink. The area upstairs is small and dark, but adequate for regular gigs. It gets very busy and everyone stands close together, but this is a good thing. The small bar upstairs sells beer by the can as well as draught and spirits. Prices are moderate to pricey. Past the toilets upstairs is a walkway leading to the outdoor smoking terrace… You get a view of Moseley Church of England. There is a taxi rank and a cashpoint machine right outside. The staff are friendly. I have fallen in love with this place and i think you will too. Go there — Definitely a popular haunt in Moseley.

With possibly the best location of any pub in Moseley, The Bull’s Head is fast catching up with it’s sister venue the Hare And Hounds in Kings Heath, with a reputation for being one of the best night spots in south Birmingham. With a lounge style area downstairs and a small venue type space upstairs, there’s generally always something going on that’s worth a look. For instance, every Monday there is a free reggae night called Jamjah with great mcs and a fantastic atmosphere. Other nights similarly promote local talent(such as friday’s live band night Freestyle) but occasionally a big name will be booked to play in the upstairs room. The selection at the bar isn’t fantastic but this is the sort of place you go to for the atmosphere rather than to drink copious amounts of alocohol. Oh, and did I mention the smoking terrace? That’s pretty good too. As you may well have guessed, I’m pretty enthusiastic about the Bulls Head. It would leave a gaping hole in Moesley’s night life that would take years to fill if it were to suddenly close tomorrow.

If you’ve read a few of my reviews then you may well have seen me say good things about a few different Moseley pubs, well sorry to be a bore, but here I go again. The Bulls Head is yet another of my regular haunts in the über cool Moseley area and with good reason, come the weekend there is always an event on in the upper room and if you don’t fancy that then downstairs and the excellent smoking area are just as lively. My favourite night to visit the Bulls Head though, is undoubtedly Monday, when the people from Jam Jah take over the upstairs function room and put on one of the best local reggae nights you will find anywhere in the country. As you can imagine with a reggae evening the atmosphere is relaxed but the drinks still flow and the dancing doesn’t cease! Any night is a good night at the Bull’s head with live music on Wednesdays and more specialist evenings on Thursday and Friday but if you, like me, are a reggae fan then keep Monday’s free.

I had few drinks on my birthday, in April, at Bull’s Head and since then, it became one of my favourite places in Moseley. it’s quite amusing to find a bar where spirit cocktails and great music match perfectly. It’s not a cheap bar to drink, I’m afraid, and their cocktail menu is so vast and tempting that is better to be prepared some tenners there. To be honest, after some glasses of a good rose and a Grace Jones tune, this place won my heart and my pocket. With several different events held each week, the Bull’s Head is a quite popular bar without being too mainstream. It can be a very relaxing venue in the afternoons so maybe this is just the perfect time to appreciate the urban art present in its walls. The funky decoration and furniture from this pub just highlight the free spirit of a great Moseley venue.

First off this venue hosts some great week night acts. Second they have a very extensive cocktail menu. I think that the draw of cheaper chain pubs in the area has limited the cliental in the week; however I personally would rather spend one night of my week at the Bull’s head than spend 3 nights for the same money in on of Moseley’s chain establishments. I think fellow residents of the area should take heed; a good night is about quality, not quantity. On the night that I went I had a large liquid meal. I started with Cherry Lips, a Midori and Disaronno number topped up with Cranberry juice. Then I avoided the deathly Long Island Iced tea in turn for their more sophisticated cousin the Apple Mojito, a Havana Blanco mixed with Mint, Gomme and Lime, topped up with Apple Juice over crushed ice. For my pudding I had Liquorice Allsorts(in a cocktail form of course!) a hedonistic mix of Black Sambuca, Banana Liqueur, Strawberry Liqueur and Blue Curaçao topped up with lemonade. After the large liquid meal of Bull’s Head cocktails I lay back and soaked in the modern décor of the establishment alongside the musical theme, a theme that is clear from the numerous posters of great artists that dominate the walls. I went on a Thursday night, and the DJ was playing everything from Glitch hop to house, a dizzying mix of electrified sounds. I love this pub, I am now hooked.
