Was pretty good food. Finally and Indian restaurant that can cook lamb properly. My only gripe is that some dishes when served in numbers, I would of liked to of been hot. Onion bhaji’s are amazing… best I’ve ever eaten.

so i was highly recommended from friends and coworkers to try indian food in the UK. disclaimer: i’m not big on curry nor have i ever had indian food. so i decided to take everyones suggestion in mind and went googling and Unilocaling for an indian restaurant. my husband and I took 2 friends along who has never had indian food as well on this journey with us. we came in. got seated right away. of course looking on the menu i felt a bit confused. however staff were really patient and took out the time to ask questions about each of our likes and dislikes i.e. spicy, meat of choice, etc. made their recommendations and was super helpful! ordered: *naan 2.55– so i was really surprised that this was actually pretty decent. not something i would crave but if you don’t wanna get rice then i would definitely say curry works well with this type of bread. *boiled rice 3.35 — personally i prefer curry with boiled rice. *Pilau Rice 3.75 — personally never been a big fan of pilau rice. but it tasted like your typical pilau rice. *chicken banarashi 9.25-thought that this curry was the best out of the other curries i’ve tried during my experience. probably because i am a fan of tomatoes and tomatoes are in this dish. chicken is white meat and they’re boneless. flavorless was on point! unfortunately, i can’t recall the name of the other two curries we tried. probably because i personally preferred the chicken banarashi. i would really highly recommend you to come here and try their curries. the food was good, presentation was on point, service was wonderful, and restaurant was nice and clean. we even asked the waiter to take a picture of us and the staff behind the counter was nice enough to dim the light so that the picture would come out clear. that’s top notch service if you ask me! tips: *no wifi *serves alcohol. *separate restrooms for female and males. *has a downstairs seating area as well. *takes cash and credit card. *staff speaks english really well. *super close by to birmingham chinatown and casinos. *gratuity is automatically added.

This is an excellent Indian restaurant for the food, the service, and the convenient location. Ironically it sits on the edge of Chinatown, but is no more than a ten minute walk from both new street and moor street stations. The dishes are very well done — just the right level of hotness for the dish and loads of spice and flavour. Pilau rice and garlic naan are equally flavourful without overbearing tones. Service was spot on too. Took coats and placed in a cloak room — nice touch. The staff was attentive at the right times without being overbearing. Definitely worth a visit!

We asked around for good curry in the area before we left Birmingham because we heard we needed to experience it. We were directed to Maharaja, even though they were closed between hours, so we waited until they opened again. Bearing all of our luggage before our train, when they opened, they gladly took our luggage for us and helped us settle in. The service here is what blew me away. They gave us our water while we waited, which we flew through. They also offered suggestions from the menu, which were spot on. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, and another curry dish I don’t quite remember. The portions were smaller than what I’m used to, but they came with a selection of either rice or naan, and we chose one for each dish. There was also a creamy mint sauce and a mango chutney that went so well with our curry and naan! They were borderline spicy, but our sinuses were plugged and we requested it! It definitely cleared us out and was perfect! I loved cleaning up with the lemon-scented hot towels they bring, too! When we were about to leave, we poured the rest of the cucumber lime water into our water bottle, and the waiter spotted us and offered to fill our water bottles with fresh water! That was so nice of him. The prices are a little up there, especially when you practically double it for the USD conversion, but the service was so fantastic!

Excellent food and wonderful service. Stopped here while on a business trip and enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and helpful staff. Papadums were perfectly cooked and promptly delivered. The mint chutney was perfect. Pashwari naan was the best I’ve had. Thoroughly enjoyed the lightly spiced and flash-fried sea bass that was recommended. Butter chicken was good, but not the best I’ve had. Consistency and texture were excellent, however the flavor was just not there, and likely would have benefited from more spices. However what dropped this to four stars was the lettuce in the salad. Everything seemed from scratch, except for the salad. The lettuce seemed bulk and store bought. Lettuce aside, I heartily recommend this restaurant.

We were greeted by a friendly waitress who took us to our table and offered us both a jug of water and our choice of an alcoholic beverage; we opted for a couple of glasses of wine which you could taste the good quality and complemented the meal tremendously. Food wise, I tried the classic butter chicken which came in a nice creamy sauce. We shared a rice, chips and nan bread and by the end of the meal I was completely stuffed! I would like to say I tried a desert but it wasn’t humanly possible for me. The waiter was very helpful and kept asking us if we needed a top up.

I apologise for being a bore, but I am once again about to wax lyrical about an Indian restaurant in Birmingham. In fact I challenge you to find a city other than London perhaps, which can match good old Brum in terms of Indian dining. Maharaja not far from the Hippodrome is a great place for a curry and my particular recommendation would have to be the Tandoori King Prawn which is priced fairly reasonably at just under nine quid. If you follow my lead on this one you won’t feel disappointed! Other than that it is pretty much you’re standard Birmingham curry house, which in short means it’s great. You’ll find friendly staff, a good atmosphere for groups both large and small and on top of all that you won’t feel like you’ve been robbed when the bill arrives.

The best indian in birmingham(if not the world). Best to book a table in advance as the restaurant itself is quite small but if you turn up they’ll do their best to accommodate you. All the staff are really friendly and helpful, and are happy to talk to you and recommend a dish, they also have specials which are usually worth a try. If you go for a curry here you will enjoy it!
