A friend and I visited this branch of Pizza Express the other evening and it turned out to be very pleasant. On a money saving trip, we looked online and found an offer of a starter and a main course for £9.95. This sounded very reasonable so we made our way down! The starters included in the offer were their various styles of garlic bread and garlic doughballs. I opted for the doughballs whilst my friend chose the garlic and mozzarella bread. The doughballs were fine and I was pleased that there was a generous portion of garlic butter so I didn’t run out and I am a huge over user of garlic! Having had such a carbohydrate based starter, we both decided upon a salad. I chose the superfood salad with some extra chicken on it which would have cost £12 usually. The portion size was enormous which wasn’t a problem although there could have been a drizzle more dressing on it. The salad was very leaf based and the«superfoods» were more of an extra on top which was a slight shame. Washed down with a still Sicilian lemonade, I enjoyed my meal but it was very standard and I dont think it is worth the price it goes for when not included in the offer. A good meal but I don’t think I’ll be tripping over myself to go there any time soon.

Pizza was very good and the variety was great. Service was above standard. Beer selection was vast.

Pizza Express is one of my favourite chains and the standard is good throughout. I went for a salad today, being a complete rebel(!) which was actually lovely. Unsure of whether it is worth £10.50 but lovely non the less. The pizza I usually go for is the padana and it is the yummiest. I also have a soft spot for the polenta chips. I could have two servings! My only complaint is the toilets always smell of urine. This isn’t a oneoff occurance because I have visited a fair few times so it is a bit off putting.

I have visited this branch of pizza express, on the waters edge several times, as it situated conveniently close to a large number of bars, gallery’s and museum. The entrance is quite small so there can be quite a scrum of people in the doorway, but nevertheless once inside it feel spacious. Most of the time I have found the service and ability to deal with large party’s that turn up unexpectedly really good. This last visit though it wasn’t quite up to its usual standards. We we’re ignored for quite a while before being seated despite booking far in advance and I could hear lots of other tables complaining about slow service too. Once seated(they hadn’t provided a table for the number of people we booked for!), we had to wait 40 mins for drinks! Thankfully we had arranged a set menu before we arrived, so actually the starters and mains came quite quickly after that. They did us a really nice mezze board of meats, cheeses, olives, salad and breads, followed by any pizza of our choice, a drink and dessert for £17.50, which considering the quantity and reasonable quality was a pretty good deal! Gluten free options also available:) Despite the blip I would go back again.

Another day another pizza express. This branch of pizza express is set amongst a number of bars and restaurants in trendy Brindley Place by the canal. The branch has plenty of seating and there is a raised platform that lets you have a good view of the restaurant. I opted out for a starter this time round and went straight for a main. Pollo pesto chicken which arrived steaming hot in a ceramic bowl. It was lovely and cheesy and the pasta twirls made the dish very filling. Not so filling though as I made sure I had room for dessert! My friend enjoyed her main which was off the new menu — Risotto Pollo Funghi which looked really tasty. We also ordered a side order of polenta chips — a first for me. They were really crisp and soft inside and made a nice change from your average chip and healthier too I’m sure! For dessert I decided to have one scoop of lemon curd sorbet which was presented in a tiny coffee cup with a chocolate twirl. Dare I say I could have eaten more — lovely and refreshing and a bit like a palette cleanser. All in all a good meal and the service was good too. Just a shame that the restaurant was a bit too hot for my liking — hence only 4 stars. Better then being cold I suppose.

Good pizza in a nice atmosphere by the canal. The place is big but the service was still good and efficient. Pizza Express always has some deals going so remember to check their website for discount codes, «2-for-1» is almost always available…

This particular Pizza Express has a better atmosphere than most of their restaurants, though it is still a little too large for that personal touch. I reckon Pizza Express ‘dumbed down’ for a while, and I was apprehensive about my recent visit to this Brindley’s Place branch. I was, however, pleasantly surprised. The menu seemed to have expanded, for one thing. I consumed a delicious salad, with my new latest discovery of goats’ cheese(I know, I know, everyone else discovered goats’ cheese decades ago!), and was pleased to see that there was a low fat option of raspberry sorbet on the menu. Gizmo ordered a 500 calorie pizza, which is restaurants’ latest trick of flogging you a tiny portion, then charging you extra ’cause it’s ‘healthy’. Generally a very good experience.

I don’t understand why a so called Pizza specialist is not as good as most pizza takeaways in general residential areas? I don’t think the pizzas at Pizza Express are that divine. I mean the tin crust is the only thing with is the best thing about their pizzas but apart from their pizzas don’t taste any better than the average pizza place. I’m not also going to pay a large amount of money for a pizza and that’s my personal view on this place. You end up spending lots of pounds for a pizza meal which you could have paid around £5 for. Unless you have a discount offer or a coupon you’ll be paying the huge prices for one pizza. Don’t get me wrong their restaurant is pleasant and modern. Restaurant is clean and airy and the staff are OK, though the service has never been that prompt a couple of times I’ve been there.

Make sure you check for coupons! Pizza Express typically has coupons(buy1, get 1 free) once a week or so! Since I got the deal, I totally enjoyed it as the cost of my food was quite cheap for what we got. I ended up ordering the«Il Padrino(Romana style) — chicken, roasted tomatoes, chargrilled vegetables, tomato & pesto base.»(Refer to the picture I posted!) I also ordered this on THINCRUST. This made it extra delicious because it wasn’t heavy. The vegetables were nice and roasted … the one thing I would say about this pizza … I couldn’t taste the pesto. Soo, where was the pesto? Other than the fact that I couldn’t taste the pesto, it was great. Service was a little slow, but it was fine. This place is very open, so the acoustics aren’t so great. If you are looking for quiet and intimate, this is not your place. Although it’s not a place where you are screaming, it can get loud.

The Pizza Express at Brindley Place is a fairly typical example of the highly popular, slightly upmarket pizza chain. Due to the area, this particular branch tends to attract a highly diverse crowd of smart professionals, students and those on their way to or from a drunken night out. The restaurant is quite large inside, with a great deal more seating upstairs. The usual generous selection of pizza and pasta options are on offer here, which should be enough to please everyone, even fusspots like me! Service is usually quite good, although it can suffer a little during busy periods. All the same, Pizza Express is a perenially good choice for a pleasant and relaxed evening out with some good quality fresh food.

This is the closest thing I could find to Round Table Pizza. After my initial purchase, I was given many buy one get one free pizza coupons. Many happy nights with lots of pizza in a foreign land!

Pizza Express is a chain, but that doesn’t mean every restaurant you go in will be the same standard. I would recommend this particular location though. The staff are particulary friendly and helpful, they are happy to take any vouchers and don’t try and push any extra on you. The location is perfect as well — Ask for a table upstairs if it’s open for a nice view.

What is there to say about pizza express apart from it feels like home. This particular branch is pleasantly set alongside the canal in Birmingham city centre, and lives up to the consistently high standards set by this purveyor of fine pizza. I went for the classic fiorentina, asking for a soft egg, receiving a hard one. What can you do? Nobody can really be bothered to send back a pizza. Can they? It was still pretty good. Stay away from the poncy ones they’re currently serving on black slabs, and I’d also say for the record that I prefer the classic rather than the new thin and crispy larger ones. But each to his own. Oh, and if you can leave without devouring a banoffee pie, then I congratulate you.

A nice looking restaurant with lots of really nice staff, but its just a shame about the food. I wasn’t too impressed with a pancake pizza that went stone cold within 10 minutes! The prices and menu selection are great but the food just isn’t up to scratch for me, it was the first time I had been to a Pizza Express and it has put me off going back to another.

A nice place to go for an upper-class pizaa. Its not your pizza hut and full of screaming kids, where you help yourself to a sorry-looking buffet and some tastless ice cream The pizza’s are more gourmet style, with different and interesting toppings, aside from your usual ham and pineapple. The pasta dishes are also delicious and the atmosphere is that of a restaurant rather than a fast-food eatery, as one often expects with a pizza joint. I would highly reccommend pizza expres to everyone who loves pizza, but likes a restaurant experience.

Great atmosphere, great service and brilliant food. The best pizza express in the area in my opinion. Its a relaxed place to have a meal after work or before a concert or show in town. The staff are friendly and the service is fast but you do not feel rushed to eat. The food is of a high quality and is always piping hot .

Quite a new Pizza Express — it was very busy when i went in at 2pm on a Sunday lunch time. The places feels like it should have been a club — we were sitting in a sunken ara which could have been a dancefloor and over to one side was a counter set against the wall with fridges underneath — which made it look like it should have been a bar. The food was reasonable although the dough balls could have beena little more garlicy. Service was competent enough, although i did have a dirty fork, and as i had used my cutlery for the starter i had to get a friend to take some from an adjacent table. The restaurant at Brindley Place is not as nice as some pizza express restaurants, but if you are in the area then it is an ok place to eat.

I am a huge fan of pizza express so my opinion may be biased but of all the Pizza Expresses in Birmingham this is my favourite. In a great location right next to the canals and some fountains around the corner this is definitely a place to take your girlfriend. The area is full of nice restaurants and there is also a Bannatynes fitness centre around the corner with jacuzzi etc. Anyone familiar with the Pizza Express restaurants will know that the pizzas are extremely tasty and I really recommend the dough balls starter. This Pizza Express has windows all around the restaurant so you get nice open views with lots of natural light. Great place to sit and have a meal with friends/lovers/family.

Good place to go for a cheap meal after work. They have a wide menu of pizzas and pastas at affordable prices. Good size portions accompanied by a good drinks menu. You could have dinner here for less than a tenner. A little bit clinical in the set up, too many bright lights to enjoy a long evening meal. A good place to eat cheaply and then move on.

I like Pizza Express and this one was no exception. Great plate sized pizzas, simple salads, easy service and a bill that’s not scary. This Pizza Express is in the middle of Brindley Place which seems to be the trendy restaurant section of Birmingham near the canal and the ICC. Handy for dinner during a conference at the ICC.
