I find Sparkhill is a very congested and busy area with endless narrow roads and busy shopping areas. However, Sparkhill Park is like an oasis of greenery in the middle of all the chaos. In fact, it comprises of more than half of the entire area, so it’s a pleasant surprise that this open space of nature has been maintained rather than developed into. There is a car park accessible from Court Road, but this tends to get very busy because worshippers from the nearby Sikh Temple also use it. As you enter the park from here there is a designated pigeon-feeding area, which can become unbearable to look at when some people leave bags of food that begins to mould! The park has had issues of antisocial behaviour so I wouldn’t recommend visiting after dusk. If you enjoy sports, then there are designated areas for ball games, cricket and football.
