Went here for dinner and have to say it was the first play I visited in the gay quarter, loved it. The atmosphere was laid back and relaxed and I felt totally comfortable. The food was lovely, they had ran out of steak that night so I ended up with a burger but have to say I was still impressed, the place wasn’t too busy so I was able to sit and chat for a long while. The staff are friendly and greet you with a smile and I really don’t have a bad word to say about the place!

A pleasant bar which can be visited in the afternoon as well as in the evening. I would recommend the loft lounge more for a comfortable drink as for a party warm up. The cocktail deals are good but aren’t presented very clearly. I liked the décor in this place, quite modern. Background music was charts/pop — loud enough to here but not too loud to overhear conversations.

The loft lounge is a great little bar located in the heart of Birmingham’s Gay Village. It has a slightly different feeling to the other bars in the area that makes it work well as a daytime lunch/drinks spot as well as a top nighttime location. The bar is very elaborately designed with large chandeliers and art work on nearly every surface or wall. The designers/owners have definitely adopted the ‘more is more’ approach here and it has worked well for them. The bar feels cosy and full of personality with welcoming bar staff and an equally lovely outside area/courtyard. As we all know happy hours/two for one offers on cocktails are a very good thing… Loft lounge has a two for one on selected cocktails most evenings after work! The drinks are well made and taste as they should, on our last visit our drinks did take a little while to come but the bar was very busy so this was completely understandable. If you are in the area loft lounge is well worth a visit. Great for meetings, lunch or as I mentioned a little after work drink with friends. On weekends the DJ’s are also pretty good so this place also makes a good start to any night out. Ill definitely be back soon.

Visited here on a Saturday night. It was busy but not crowded. I loved the large outdoor seating area which had plenty of chairs. Cocktails were two for £10. I liked the ordering system. You order at the bar and then cocktails are made at a separate section, meaning the server can get on with serving the next person. It made ordering drinks much quicker and less stressful. Cocktails weren’t the best I’ve ever had but were great for £5 each!

Loft Lounge is a cocktail bar and restaurant in Birmingham’s Gay Village. It’s a good place to go if you fancy a chilled-out drink and a bit of a sit down in an area that is lacking in that department. However, in the evenings it can also get quite lively and I’ve heard some good DJs here, so it can also be a good place to begin a night out on Hurst St. As far as the food and drink is concerned, I’d say it was fine but nothing special. There are far better cocktail bars to be found in the city. The menu offers burgers and other bar-type stuff, as well as roasts on a Sunday. The décor could do with a refresh.

The loft lounge is a just nice, it used to be very stylish and colourful bar. but now its lost its touch slightly after introducing a restaurant. Having said that its still a nice environment when you enter, full of lovely people and always get a good service whenever i go in. Drinks were a reasonable price, though the cocktail are awful here. There was a good menu of food but sadly the food we had in this occasion wasn’t that good. We had a chicken burger each and the chicken was very dry and tough. there was no salad in the bun or sauces. it was just a fried chicken in a bun. They need to be more imaginative with their food and provide something better. The rest of the meal was good but really for the price i had paid i was left very disappointed. This place works as a bar and not as a restaurant. They need to buck up their ideas on how to make it more exciting. otherwise it was standard pub grub really. Car parking is available on street for FREE after 6pm till 8am next morning. or there is a Cheap £2.50 all day parking on Hurst street.

Here again! slow service this evening. I can see there is a staff meeting going on but the hot chocolate is delicious. Yet again a calm and chilled atmosphere, great for a quick catch up with an old friend.

One of my first choices for the gay quarter. The food is really good with a varied menu from tapas, burgers and pizza to pie and mash. Long cocktail list and ample selection of draft beers and wine. My only gripe(which has always been this way!) Is the service is shocking! There’s never anyone behind the bar so you have to wait. When it’s busy there’s still only one person. I’ve never ordered a cocktail because it’ll probably take too long and all my friends will be on their third drink by the time I’ve managed a sip of mine. Food comes out at different times and feels rushed. It’s a shame because the ambience and décor is fab!

I’m probably harsher on venues in the village than I am in the main part of town. The loft has a great cocktail happy hour most week days. The food is always pretty swift and tasty. It aspires to be more upscale than it really is. Or maybe that’s because most of the furniture is really quite nice. There’s a large outdoor yard with decking should you wish to punish yourselves and sit under some sort of push button patio haters with the smokers. There’s also a large room at the back for semi private dining which you can hire.

A lovely little dainty bar and eatery in the Gay Village, perfect for a quiet and cosy drink and dinner, or to begin your weekend. Food is standard, and what you’d expect but is plentiful in portion size and taste!

This is a very stylish and eclectic bar in Birmingham’s gay quarter, and probably my favorite in the area. The décor is a combination of modern style with some furniture you may find in your grandmother’s attic. Probably why it’s called The Loft. They have a good selection of cocktails, although not much on the real ale front, but that’s forgivable as it’s a great place to have a drink with friends and relax when it’s not busy.

This is great venue in the gay village. Its a great place to head for lunch and perhaps some cocktails on a Sturday afternoon but but equally a good place to spend the evening. during the day its light and airy feeling bar, which is perfect to just sit and chat for a while. This may sound odd but its the sort of place that you don’t have to put any real effort in to feel comfortable. Of a night the place livens up a little more and becomes a great venue. The people who own this place also own the Nightingale, The Village and the Angel, so plenty of experience in venue management. This is a bastion of the gay quarter and the sort of venue that a lot of other places look upto.

I’m back and I’m reviewing the Loft Lounge again! This is just a quick update from last time. The overall rating stays the same. However at my last visit I ate; The menu had changed again! The pizzas were no longer. It’s a shame as pizza is a nice staple, but after last time it’s probably best that they have taken a back seat. Everything else on the menu looked good. I’d like to go back and sample the rest, but the fish and chips was much improved. So the update is that the food seems to be going back on the right track. I hope this continues!

A really lovely venue in the heart of the Gay Quarter. The Gay Quarter of Birmingham is a bit of a chameleon, changing from day into night and then weeknight into weekend. Some of the pubs which seem laid back and friendly in the day turn into packed meat markets in the evening; not so in the Loft Lounge. Whilst being surrounded by both buildings old and new, the Loft Lounge maintains an air of class and gravitas — accentuated by it’s dependable menu and good selection of drinks. If you want a nice laid back place to go in the evening Sunday to Thursday, check it out. If you want a busy bustling bar with a nice outdoor seating area head here Friday or Saturday. The drinks aren’t cheap — but you really do get a little slice of class in a very varied area of Birmingham.

Bad cocktails, slow service, expensive, no vegan options and worst of all, bad music. A terrible and tacky experience in the gay scene.

The Loft lounge is a regular place for my friends and I to start a night out on Hurst Street. It’s a nice bar to relax in whilst enjoying some food and/or a drink. The drinks and are pricey and the portions aren’t that good because half the drink is filled with Ice and half of the plate is empty! The sell small selection of traditional cocktails such as: Sex on the beach and Cheeky Vimto. With all the drinks they have on show on the bar it would be nice if they had their own home made cocktail; a unique drink that would want to make you go there. They sell typical pub food: burgers, chips and chibatas etc and despite small the portions the food quite tasty but I don’t come here specifically for the food. If it’s hot in there I like to enjoy my time with their outdoor seating and it’s a shame this isn’t an available option at night(I’ll explain in a bit,) Even though I don’t smoke I have to admit they have a nice smoking area as it’s spacious and has some pretty plants. I understand it’s a lounge but at night it turns into a club with the loud music but there’s not much room to dance! The majority of the space is taken up by comfortable sofas and chairs. So you’re either standing in the crowd by the bar or standing over people who are sitting down(unless you’re sitting.) As you can imagine it can get crowded and a bit awkward so I with the managers would do something about this. In summary experience has taught me that the Loft Lounge is good to start your night out, a nice place to relax during the evening and day time

Over the last couple of years, the Loft Lounge has quickly gained a reputation as ‘the’ place to be in the city’s lively gay quarter. There’s good reason for this, thanks to an appeal that spreads far and wide beyond the stereotypical view of a gay bar that perhaps other venues in walking distance of the Loft Lounge offer. Although its audience is primarily gay, it seems to be a more mixed crowd than most venues on the same strip without attracting any idiots. Saturday nights are the busiest, when it can become a struggle to get to the bar and the relatively small space becomes apparent; however, on quieter nights, it feels a lot more relaxed than a Nightingales or Missing, offering a sophisticated setting for food and cocktails. It really is super-chic inside too, a fact that has seemed to make other bars step up. So, if you’re looking for somewhere cool to chat over drinks or want to experience a big night out in Brum’s gay area that doesn’t throw drag queens and cheesy pop tunes down your throat(you’re looking more at house and dance-centric stuff here), then this is probably the best place to start.

A popular New York Style Gay Bar in Birmingham, The food is great and staff are friendly and helpful. There is a back room used for functions which looks classy and stylish. During the day there is a relaxed welcoming atmosphere which develops into the evening aiding a smooth transition from Pub Grub to fine dining.

Sharp setting, off-centre to the middle of the city. Within the gay quarter this is a great place right through the day. Though I admit the atmosphere is a little forced, and the décor is a bit ‘try-too-hard’ the drinks, service, food and staff are great. Try the pink lady cocktail, and make sure you have an appetite if you order a meal! Busy in the evenings, fairly chilled in the day, sometimes live music. Busiest nights on the gay scene are Thursday and Saturday, if you want to be discreet, this probably isn’t the place to go for a quiet date! Otherwise, I love it: D
